From what I've seen of Freezing not sure that's the...best inspiration. Touhou or Madoka Magica, overkill as they are could work.

Madoka had those awesome Witches and whatnot.

Also, Moose theme. As in normal War Machine Mech, but with Moose Antlers and a MOOSE MASH Attack. I would buy it.

Selutu -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:24:17)

I don't mean more mature art such as the ones in Freezing, but merely the Pandora mode they can turn into...

Moose? Speaking of animals... We need a Hedgehog! They're really nice. Full Needle attack.

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:26:02)

Similar to the weapon, in terms of aesthetic change.

The Mecha would be completely identical in every form, only differences being the horns with every use. Moves/weapons would have to change according to attributes in the different trolls. I'll post an example:

FA- arm holding a weapon correspondent to the horns.
Aradia: Psychokinetic blast of energy
Tavros: Lance that discharges lethal gusts of wind
Sollux: Electric throwing stars
Karkat: Sickle that drains blood
Nepeta: Sharp claws of ice
Kanaya: Light-empowered chainsaw
Terezi: Cane-sword that can inflict either a HP or EP DoT
Vriska: Set of dice with a random effect for an attack
Equius: Fist, just a fist. STRONG PUNCH!
Gamzee:Juggling clubs of different colors with different elements of DoTs
Eridan: Harpoon gun-shaped laser rifle OR a hits wand of SCIENCE!
Feferi: A trident that shoots out psychic pulses

That's all I got.

ND Mallet -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:27:12)

@selutu Hedgehogs already have their time in the spotlight with Sonic the Hedgehog. I can't name one popular game or show nowadays with a main character as a moose.

Selutu -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:36:34)

Hmmm... Sonic doesn't seem like a Hedgehog though... But I see your point.

Cataclysm -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:43:44)

Rocky and Bullwinkle, good sir. Rocky and Bullwinkle. Extra points for also featuring a flying squirrel.

Hmm... I'm trying to think of a good anime to reference with MQ, and I'm not coming up with anything off the top of my head, probably because I read a bunch of random ones.

Megas XLR mech is still the most awesome idea I've heard of in the history of ever, though. I would pay all of the money for that. My MQ farming song (Chicks Dig Giant Robots, the Megas XLR themesong) would be even more awesome. Though the mech would have to be built around the theme of "MOAR DAKKA" which we've done a lot...

ND Mallet -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:48:49)

@TCO I did say nowadays, unless they have a new version of the show that I'm missing. I do agree that Megas XLR would be cool but a repetitious mecha idea. You also have that some of the greatest attacks that mecha has done can't really be replicated in MQ(the Magna-Flex, that giant flaming phoenix thing in the same episode, Coop's Karaoke blast,etc.)

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:55:00)

@TCO
I suggest the Arm Slave from Full Metal Panic, however they fit the standard militaristic style Mech as they are basically twenty-story tall elite Mecha soldiers, complete with Mecha sized knives and sniper rifles in a specific case.

Selutu -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/26/2012 23:56:49)

@Teh Cataclysmic One
If you read/watch Rurouni Kenshin, I'm sure you'll like the idea of a Rurouni Kenshin-based mecha. I'm would hope for the FA to be a Japanese Katana that can use many different attacks of the same style. Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū to be exact.
A Katekyo Hitman Reborn based mecha could utilize different Dying Will Flames with the BD Attack being something like X-Burner/XX-Burner.
Soul Eater... I'm thinking of the BD being something like Soul Sync and giving more specials to the default attacks and maybe the second usage would turn it into Kishin... FA Scythe that can do Witch Hunter/Kishin Hunter. BA could be something like Soul Purge.

Megas XLR is a pretty good idea actually. What about a Fish mecha resembling Nemo?

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:02:59)

@Selutu
What about a Hollow Mecha from Bleach?

Selutu -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:08:30)

Bleach is too main-stream over-rated even though it is a fine manga/anime.

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:11:26)

@Selutu
What makes it mainstream?

I'm sorry, it's just that everywhere else on the Internet the word is so overused. Every five seconds something is considered too "mainstream".

EinhanderX01 -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:14:55)

Just a friendly reminder; while it's nice to offer up some unusual/unexpected suggestions, do remember to stay on-topic. We do have the lovely Mecha Base Suggestions Forum if you have a mech idea that you feel is amazing enough to share and detail.

That said, I firmly believe that the SCM series are better off keeping the parodies/homages to a minimum; keeping mainly to the military-like design aesthetic. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of having a unique line in the first place. The occasional BC/Viking/Mechtron is fine, but if MQ did have to go for more parodies/homages, I prefer them being more like the Dharmahp, which parodies the Apharmd but retains the unique SCMM design aesthetic.

Not to pick on or insult anyone, but some of the suggestions are better off as April Fools Mechs. Megas XLR, Finding Nemo, Rocky & Bullwinkle, etc seem better fit for April Fools. Where the parody/homages can be as blatant as the Staff desires and as OP or unusual as the Staff desires. And besides, I'm sure that there are a lot more players who'd want a blatant parody of such unorthodox mechs than just SCs.

Glais -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:15:03)

Incredibly popular sort of things. Though I'm not sure what separates mainstream from famous as TransFormers is famous, but not mainstream.

I still say we need a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference, as far as Manga go. Not even a full Mech, just the rapid fire punching move MUDAMUDAMUDA/ORAORAORA thing.

Selutu -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:17:20)

@glai
That would be pretty amazing.

@Einhander
That's what I mean. Not exactly overly silly or something, but just a simple parody/reference in the MQ art-style.

Cataclysm -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:20:31)

@ND Mallet Guy: Fair enough. It's still a great show.

@Selutu: I've read all of Rurouni Kenshin, and it was a pretty good read. I just don't see it translating well into a mech though.

@Zanzibaarus: Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece are the manga/anime that people who haven't really read much manga/anime typically think of when someone says "manga" or "anime." No one thinks of, say, Sakigake!! Otokojuku!, Count Cain, Necromancer, Madoka, Psyren, Mirai Nikki, Sun-Ken Rock, etc. They're the three that are always there and, as is popular opinion of those who've dipped outside the three and into the massive pool of manga/anime in the world, not of the same quality (I'm inclined to agree).

I'd love to see a mech based off the available mechs in the game series Armored Core. Those mechs look AMAZING. They've even got similar slots to the ones MQ has (shoulders, head, body, arms), so it wouldn't be a difficult transition.

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:48:51)

@glaisaurus_x
You have not commented on my wall of text at the top of this page. Is it not good for a base idea?

Glais -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:50:41)

It might be. Bit too much. Over random if you may. Narrowing it down to four or so would be more realistic.

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 0:59:18)

But which of the four?

I understand that out of all of them, Karkat is the first to appear in every single way out of the group, but what other three?

Glais -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 1:03:18)

Well Feferi got that huuuuuge Lusus, so maybe her. The girl with the 8 vision who was friends with Scratch could work too.

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 1:06:16)

So, it would be Karkat, Feferi, Vriska and...maybe Gamzee?

I'll change my idea with Feferi right now:

Feferi: Trident that summons Kathool-Atchoo

*trollface of some sort by including KA*

keng4896 -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/27/2012 22:38:02)

It could be even based off Reborn! Or Code Breaker.

savage soldier -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/28/2012 13:14:18)

I'd like to see a Bane themed mech or something from the "The Dark Knight Rises" to honor those of the Colorado attack. Kinda like what was done for the Crocodile hunter on Adventurequest withe the sword and pet

Or if not that then maybe something from Total Recall or Expendables.

VanHellsin24 -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/29/2012 12:33:02)

The front page mech, only when were ready for another all out offensives mech

ND Mallet -> RE: =MQ= Art Style for Next "SCMM" - We Call Them SCEM Now! (7/29/2012 16:39:17)

Since it seems people want a more serious parody then I suggest a Mighty Morphin Megazord praody with parts like a LlamaZord, MooseZord, DuckZord, and/or various other less media popular animals. I'd vote for the head being the MooseZord because it's got antlers!
