kingpowerlord -> Varium's role? (12/1/2012 14:22:10)

Well, me and mother1 were discussing this ingame and I seriously believe that these new items are too much, I as well as many other players know that the point of these new credit items was to make free players be able to par with barium players however in the past 2 months they have released 3 non barium armies and roughly 20 new level 35 non varium items that beat some of the older varium items. This is IMO uncalled for, along with the suggestion shop release and the rabblefroth shopnon varium players have gotten so many items. This seriously needs to STOP, with these new items what's the point in buying varium? They not only equal but BEAT varium items.

So what are your opinions?

Vegafire -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 14:25:42)

This is not going to be a pay for power game and was never intended to be, pay for less work, variums role is to give a time advantage now, so you dont have to battle to earn credits for stuff. you can get the stuff and then battle

Mother1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 14:32:22)

It is like trans told me some time ago. Get it quick with varium or work for it in game with credits. Besides Varium still get you promos and varium gear that non variums can't get.

kingpowerlord -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 14:33:02)

The main point is, these new items BEAT old items, which have been paid for with real money, making them null and void compared to let's sy the charvringer weapons, for example the harbinger armor is stronger than the delta knight. You have to grew that this os top much. Delta knight cost 2k varium and the hatchery 28k credit.

Mother1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 14:50:48)

@ King

Now you are bring up something that i heard about with the Gamma bot and the Infernal android. Also don't forget that the delta knight is a level 34 armor, while the harbinger is a level 35 armor. Plus the armor while it is non varium has varium stats and can be brought with both varium and credits.

Varium as of now will is now more of a convience thing more then a power thing. But it also does get you special weapons that non variums can't get. The only special they have that is useful in battle is lucky strike with the celtic weapons while Varium players have that and every other special to use in PVP battles. There is your advantage.

Stabilis -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 14:52:45)

Starter,

Do you actually expect to succeed in a contest from bribery? Wait, there is a term for that... cheating. Why do we ban performance enhancing (steroids) drugs in the Olympics, Kingpowerlord? Is it because it is hipster? You, among other people who think by this primal regiment, are not the only players in EpicDuel. That is because EpicDuel is multiplayer. There are players that play for free here, and although they do not pay 5, 10, 20, 25, 50 dollars, they play, and sometimes for hours at a time. I think it is quite possible that there are free players that have been online for the amount you have been online, squared. To give you some insight about how long these players have played, let us pretend that you have been online for a total of 9000 hours (more than a year in hours), and some free player has been online for 18000 hours (more than 2 years in hours). That free player has given up 9000 hours compared to you to get about the same or less quality in items in EpicDuel, but guess what? 9000 hours * $7.25 minimum wage before taxes/deductions is more than $65000. That player has given up a potential annual wage and a half (after deductions) from playing EpicDuel because they did not or could not pay for varium, and still have equal or worse items than you.

The nerve!

Power from Varium
One goal of Omega *is* to diminish the power gap between F2P and Varium players. We want to shift the gains given by Varium from granting overt power to giving new options and convenience. It can also grant things like cosmetic options, etc that we haven't explored as much in the past. We also don't want Varium players to feel a constant obligation to upgrade just to keep up. Instead, we want you to be excited about the loads of new options that you can play around with.

What this means is that Varium should get you what you want faster, and should grant additional awesome options, strategies, and builds that otherwise might not be available, while still providing awesome stuff to F2P players that you might have to work a little for. In the end, everyone should be better off with these changes.

Trans nailed it, game over.

friend18 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 19:37:46)

I'm sad that the countless Varium packages that I purchased may possibly go down the drain... If I could have obtained the same gear via credits, I'd rather go that route. The point of me purchasing varium was to gain a clear advantage that non-variums would not be able to have. That gap has been disappearing more recently, but now, there's the possibility that f2p players will have access to the same enhancements/stats as me [&:].

Vegafire -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 19:59:36)

But not the Weapons abilities and custom style - Rarity and it will take the players ages to get the credits to not only get the items but maximize them, also credit, battle token and exp boosts? for when they do raise level cap ect? i mean comeone varium was meant to give a advantage and it still will (A time, rarity, item skill bonus) it was not meant to put a PAY to WIN system in place, theres no fun if us variums are easily crushing every apponement apart from other varium users with ease....

arthropleura -> RE: Varium's role? (12/1/2012 23:13:58)

Wait... ur saying varium ISNT worth it? Ermagod... this is weird

As an example: Would you rather spend farming total of 24 hours for an item + enhancements you want rather than spend some Varium and not work for it? Majority of ED players are casual players, we don't have that much time on our hands so Varium is better. And since you have advantage first, over the F2P, you can beat them easier since they gotta farm Credits for it thus having advantage over them either way.

Hey I paid for 2nd Amendment at lv20, why is it weaker than charbinger weapons?

Devs buff pls. I too lazy to buy stuff pls buff.

You cannot be serious with this thread.

Jekyll -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 17:55:09)

Sorry ansh0, that's an exaggerated example. While i dont fully agree with kingpowerlord, you have to understand his frustration. He's saying that non varium items should not exceed the power of varium items at such a quick pace. Delta Knight almost immediately lost out to the Harbinger Husk. As a paying player, i do feel this sometimes too, while you probably may not. Nonetheless, we need to gradually accept the change in the role of varium. I hope you understand.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 18:30:47)

with enhancements leaving in the future, i expect the credit weapons to have a higher cost. (since they no longer have to put more credits in to enhance their weapons)
and if they wanted varium to be more valuable, they would drop the credit charges to VARIUM weapons.
theres no need for me to pay 1500 varium for a weapon and then be charged another 12k-15k credits ontop of that.

it should either be Varium OR Credits. not both.

in any case, this thing about old items being outpowered by new ones, should *hopefully* stop being an issue after the lvl enhancements update.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 18:32:35)

Varium is switching from a power boost to time saver. From what I have read in the DN thread when you buy Varium you are basically buying time.

From RabbleFroth
quote:

The plan is that Varium and credit weapons will have the same total stats in the new system.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 18:35:34)

@OWA
in that case then, if its to save time, Brainwash should be unlimited.

Ranloth -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 18:37:48)

@goldslayer1
howaboutno.jpg

Time = money, just so you know. That's your opportunity cost.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 18:41:04)

@trans
so some people its
Miles = money

but which post are u disagreeing with?

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 18:52:26)

@goldslayer the Developer only have so much time to give for your investment or more likely they don't want you to be a lazy bum of an NPC farmer just so you can have a perfect ratio even if it would net them a boat load of cash

goldslayer1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 18:59:09)

@OWA
good point, just an idea though.
then again, some people only do NPCs for faster battles.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 19:15:45)

It doesn't get much faster then four rounds but then again I hear you can three round the mechachillid

Mother1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 19:18:40)

@ owa

During the ebilcorp war people were 2 turning the mechachild.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 19:18:56)

@OWA
with STR CH i use to 3 round NPCs. they didn't use shield on me as a str CH, so it was pretty good if u added in malf.

but public matches usually go past 4 rounds these days if ur trying to win.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Varium's role? (12/2/2012 20:09:35)

good to know doing a real fight is too slow for some people haha.

But variums role as Omega gets closer is luxuries and time saving
