Exploding Penguin -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 11:39:23)

Another thing I've noticed is that people don't acknowledge they got lucky, and just become extremely arrogant and full of themselves, which is also quite infuriating. Anyways, just like mother1, I try and treat everyone with respect and consideration, trying to understand the other side before saying anything too offensive. I'm glad you brought this topic up, though, because I know quite a few people who rage quit ED for a month or a couple of weeks just because they got real ticked at these players with terrible sportsmanship.

Vypie -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 12:35:22)

@dragonman111
dragonman111, I understand what you are talking about. People let themselves affected by it and make a huge deal out of it, when they should just ignore them.
The problem is that not many people can handle it as well.
Many players feel bad when others insult. The game can lose its fun for them, specially if they retaliate. And "noob" is just the beginning. There is much worse, worthy of a ban.

I'm one of the players that wont counter-insult, and wont feel a bit of anger or hate or anything. I play to have fun, and I don't let others affect my gameplay with such immature things.
The reasons I wrote this thread were not because someone called me a "noob". Actually, it was from another thread that mentioned the subject, and many people seem to suffer from it. I wanted to help people see differently! :)

And I said it was basic psychology, to not say common sense, because it is not. It is something that usually we don't know. What's so wrong with psychology? It's the way people function or think!
And most of the time people just evaluate others from a limited perspective, when there are real reasons for this or that behavior.

I'm glad you just ignore and carry on. Many people should do that and stop refueling the insults.

D.v.D. -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 13:00:34)

Psychology cannot be proven,therefore is not scientific,therefore I do not believe it.
Reason for name calling?
Those words exist ,they will be used at one time or another.

Unknown Menace -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 13:01:52)

Couldn't care less when someone calls me a noob or anything in that matter. Personally i feel sorry for them to trie to make everybody feel that misarable. Now saying GG while getting owned by a BM (before the last nerf) was a real pain. That could drive me nuts. Often when the opponent is way to lucky or i am way to unlucky i just shout out loud like some wild animal. When you hear it, it sounds like a bear is about to attack and eat you alive. It's not normal i know, but it's better than to trie and make some random kid feel bad by calling them names. Find another way to relieve the frustration. Buy a boxing bag and give it a punch when needed.

Yo son -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 13:17:54)

A noob is a player, your level, the same class, somewhat similar builds, who you have 30 more dex than, but he crits on you, deflects your rage, and blocks you; then right when his about to kill, he calls you noob.
@goldslayer, please your bad luck is viral, after losing that fight to you! I lost 4 consecutive fights to the same player who some how managed to blocked me 4 times in our fights, even though I have 60 more dex than him, on top of that he went first, even though I clearly had more support than him. Yes after the 4th fight I really really wanted to call him a luck noob; but it wasn't his fault it was the game!

A lot of players will mad rage/ mad rage quit in omega, especially since npcs will be removed due to luck and you will start see a lot of players being called noobs, and without a doubt it will probably come from non varium players who are getting there revenge for getting pwned a lot by varium js.

rene196 -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 14:16:56)

People are just:
1)jealous of you/your equipment ect.
2)You get lucky in the fight and they get mad.
3)They have a bad/unlucky day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just ignore ppl like these or call them back.
But keep in mind you are just as immature as him/her as you do.[:)]
Gull.. -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 15:19:33)
I think it funny when people call me noob, or that kind. - but annoying another way..
i have note most of people dont win much, and when thy got near a victory then thy just have to call oppenent a noob, for enjoy thy victory anymore probably.. -especially when i play jugg..
I never call people noob. I like to be respected :)), and if i can see a player "is a beginner" i try to give them advice. Some laugh at me, other listen to me, and by then i have got some good frinds.. - it recommended [:D]
DunkThatOreo -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 15:26:14)
How bout its just fun to call people noobs because it makes yourself feel better? Thats all there is to it.
DOOMdeath -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 15:31:59)
i usually get called noob like that : @whoever(K.O.): N00B!!!!!!!
LatinLover/Martini -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 15:37:04)
Everyone was a "noob" at one point. There is no point in calling people noobs when we were all one at one time. Many of us still are. I am a noob :) Forever will be
ND Mallet -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 16:52:35)
Most I get is about my color scheme honestly. Then I usually beat them anyways. If anything it's when I'm not lucky and they win that they start calling me names.
It is a kids game.
J.U.S.T.I.C.E. -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 17:32:18)
So what if they call you a "noob" you gotta' be at least UNDER THE AGE OF 13 to think this hurtful, therefore you probably haven't got your parents permission to play the game, and are going against illegal terms and policies.
8x -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 17:44:27)
The main reason why people call you noob is because you give them a loss.
ambien -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 18:33:57)
one thing about this game kids do they call mods noobs no and u know why they dont they could get banned from chat log.
it is sad about when someone gets beat they say noob. but one thing u can look at alot of noobs have great winning records.
and some are on alltime and lb during the day.
if ed came up with a mute button they would be lost the ppl that like to use the word noob.
but kids will be kids so l just dnt talk to them at all let them talk and talk and when u beat them say( now go lay by your dish)
they have no come back for that just a game
always the syfy[;)]
arthropleura -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/9/2012 19:30:41)
@dragonman111
In case you haven't realised, by 'abuse' I mean actual expletives and not words like noob. I don't bother doing anything about the word 'noob' or similar usages.
Deiselman -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/10/2012 4:14:07)
midnight santa -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/10/2012 6:22:16)
it simple
becuz you a noob...
RageSoul -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/10/2012 6:37:22)
Ah , i remember those times there are people calling me noob yet the funny thing is that most of them are Varium players . So i just lol'ed at them off-screen . "Leave 'em ", said by myself to myself , "it took them power but at least i'm having fun" .
@Goldslayer1
lol'ed on them nooblings ( noob + weakling , or in other case , a nooby noob ) !
Jekyll -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/10/2012 7:36:32)
While I was using my non-varium Mercenary alt, I realised that the main culprits are varium users who feel sore and upset after losing to a non-varium, regardless of level diference.
Its gonna be a huge transition for them into Omega wheb the gap closes even more.
This is just my view as a player with both varium and non-varium characters.
Unknown Menace -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/10/2012 10:26:15)
Played a 2vs2 match earlier today when i decide to heal my partner at some point and this is what happened.
Me: Heal
Partner: ?
Partner: why heal
Partner: i am noob
I didn't even know how to respond to that, because i didn't expect him to say such thing. He wasn't a noob actually better than most of my partners. Not the one that gets k.o.'d in 2 turns. Is this what happens when people that are doing good give in to all the name calling? Honestly i only heal when i see that you still have something to contribute to the fight if not i use the energy for a massacre and finish the match myself.
Vypie -> RE: The reasons for name calling (noob,etc) (12/10/2012 16:43:21)
^ now that is weird xD
Oooh, i remember so many many times when i could do a massacre in my next turn, but my opponent decides not to heal me, and I die.
Most of the time they don't seem to know one heal equals to +damage dealt by partner, more turns wasted by opponents too. Unless they are going to die anyways.
