The Astral Fury -> Having A Bad Day? (1/2/2013 16:17:07)

Ever have one of those days where everyone elses build is better than your build, where luck isn't on your side and your getting blocked left and right. Just having one of those days where you can't seem to win.

Have you guys just had a bad day?

The build is not the problem. It's the RNG, that's the problem.

Divreon -> RE: Having A Bad Day? (1/2/2013 16:22:55)

I pop into ED every 6 months or so, and the power creep that happened between Beta and Omega was insane. Every six months I had to completely re-stat and relearn to play.

The strategies I had learned were simply unusable, and it lead to some very harsh returns to the game.

Now however, I'm using a "Luck" build (High support, Infernal staff for Maximum crit damage, High dex for max blocks) and am okay with the 1/3rd of the time I lose, because when i get lucky(More than my average 2 crits per 2v2), no build can stand against me.

Blitzex/Sr. Zeph -> RE: Having A Bad Day? (1/2/2013 16:27:58)

Actually today.

I went jugging a bit, got this one battle:
Stun-crit
crit
crit
me dead.

I thought:
What the ... is this kind of madness?

next match:
4 crit over the whole battle.
I myself 1 crit and deflected once.

I mean, i got really mad and changed class to bm to go 1vs1ing, got pretty mad by the RNg today.

I'm 27-8 in 2v2 today; 77.1% D:

Crits and deflections I don't mind, it's the blocks that are out of hand. Many people can easily achieve a max 50/50 block chance which is a little ridiculos I mean 10-20% should be the max block chance. The RNG is the number 1 most annoying thing in this game and it dosen't make it fun anymore.

Also I swear to god do not use the argument "Knowing that you'll win all the time is boring the RNG makes thing interesting". There are 3 thnigs wrong with this argument.
1. It's kinda of a lame poorly thought argument, that dosen't really have any depth or diversity to it.
2. "Knowing You'll Win Everytime" Uh no because if they removed the luck system, you wouldn't know if you would win all the time, they would be other builds you would come across that would counter yours or other builds that you can't just beat. So you wouldn't know if you'd win everytime and you wouldn't win everytime.
3. It's boring to to win all the time, Ugh no really, I mean you won't always win, but let me tell you it's a whole lot better to win cause of your skill and amazing build then losing cause of luck.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Having A Bad Day? (1/2/2013 16:35:09)

@angels holocaust: The Random # gen itself is following messed up guidelines anyways (although it could be lowered a little, 8% base block and 10% base deflection is pretty high), it's skills like shadow arts which boost block chance by a whopping 10% that totally mess up the luck system of the game. Even if you have a 2% chance of being blocked by all your opponents who you face (because you have a strong smoke, 150+ dex, etc) You're gonna end up being blocked atleast 1 time out of every 50 strikes statistically, or even less if some of your opponents have shadow arts. In my opinion, the stats scaling with block/defl/crit chance is pretty balanced, but the base of block/defl chance is set way too high, and the minimum is still a large amount. A 1% minimum for both and a base chance of half of their current would make the fights far more skill-based and less luck-based, although still keeping a somewhat prevalent luck factor. The RNG may cause problems, particularly with all those commanders who have done 15k+ fights, a "bad day" is definitely going to happen sometimes, even if their chance of occuring is less than 1/10 of a %. If you're playing multiple thousands of battles, or even tens of thousands for many players, then bad days are definitely going to happen. Even if the luck factor was severely brought down, they would still occur, although at a far less often rate. What I find is the worst problem is not my luck that makes me lose, it's those other players who are bad sports and call you "noob" or degrade you whenever they win based off of severe luck that gets me really annoyed.

The problem is you don't block when ur supposed too
I had 42-51+5 physical armor from dex
This str blood Mage with 20-24 and a hundred something str strikes at me 6 times, one rage and not a single block...

The problem is you don't block when ur supposed to
I had 42-51 physical armor and a str BM had 20-24 with energy primary. He strikes me 6 times and a not a single block -.-
Next time I vs him I block 1/6 and a stun on him
He's like: lucky noob ._.
Mind you I use stun twice every battle so yeah :/

@Astral
quote:

The chance to block can never be less than 2%. The chance to block can never be more than 35%. *
* The bonus block chance from Shadow Arts can break this limit.

Hard to achieve.

A bad day in EpicDuel is no where near a bad day in real life.

Locking this up, since these posts would be more appropriately placed in the (Dis)Accomplishments Thread.
