Where are you getting your "facts"? Angels pointed to a specific situation that happened with this game where people were completely taken for a ride and had no effect on the userbase/varium spending whatsoever.
The devs are not obligated to give any compensation, yet they say they will.
Why not let them give the compensation they see fit?
If you have literature of similar situations and the effects of those business decisions, would you care to share them?

This is what i am trying to do, because i'm confident that the developers understand the business. Angels is actively crusading against having the devs choose, and trying to make them instead give out compensation as a bike or an achievment, rather than just letting the developers decide it.
Also, war cannons had a significantly smaller impact on the game, and zero impact on the actual core gameplay (battling).

The current example i'd use is WarZ, they have their PR at such an abysmal state that the only reason the developers made profit from it is due to not giving refunds for things that were lost in hackings, database crashes, etc.
I'm not saying that ed will die instantly if they give a poor compensation, but it will be a very bad PR hit, and will damage the game. If they give a proper compensation, it encourages people to continue their brand loyalty to ED/AE and continue spending money, so who in their right mind WOULDN'T do it?

Xendran have you considered that angels might be winding you up

Thank you for pointing to a specific example. However, from what I can tell, WarZ was deliberate false advertising to sell a product. I mean, Steam is offering a full refund for that game.
In the case of enhancements, it was never meant to be a complete solution, just a temporary solution for buffing old items. Players received tons of value for said enhancements, and the game is transitioning to a system where you can actually bring all your items to level cap without enhancements.
Seems to me, that if they bring your enhanced items to the level cap, that would be a great transition without the need for some vague "compensation". I'm sure the devs are kicking themselves for using that word...
ps I realize that already maxed items would need something else - like a free core. Hey you can add it to your core list: enhanced: +5% damage
