Thumbs up so far and I like the fact we will see new skills hopefully the rabid monkeys skill.

haha, might just have to make a rabid monkey icon now :3 ( I loled ... and still loling at this ) :D

DestruRaGe -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 20:55:40)

Oh yeaa thats what we need! New skills and animations will make this game more fun for sure.
And with other things thatve got mentioned, I really hope that this game will finally be more fair.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 21:31:09)

sounds interesting, and fun.

Stabilis -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 22:02:24)

Hey Charfade, for animations, are you tinkering with the weapon animations like Strike for different motions? Just like when we could toss a weapon in the air.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 22:03:40)

@above yup it is what they are doing, they are making the battle more interesting, so that means more animations.

King FrostLich -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 22:16:14)

Trust level increased.

Remorse -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 22:32:25)

One question I must know.

Can we, or can we not see what our opponent skill cores that they have equipped in battle??

I really hope we can see.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 22:42:24)

Agreed with remorse ...

Xendran -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 23:24:06)

Depends if they want to continue being a hardcore oriented game or not. If they hide skill cores, they may as well go fully casual and hide losses and win ratios as well, because if skill cores are hidden the battle system will become a joke that nobody takes seriously.

Mother1 -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 23:27:03)

@ xendran

I remember the staff was talking about doing that in omega as well when some players complained about NPC going. The hiding of wins and losses which I remember so people were actually for.

Giras Wolfe -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/15/2013 23:49:01)

In the new engine, Omega allows us to define "rule sets" that can be applied to any action. These rules can now very easily be recycled and tweaked. So if Rule Set A defines an action that rains down damage, we can pair Rule Set A with Animation Set A, B, and C to create three different effects without creating loads of extra work.

Sounds like pretty basic programming sense. Good that's finally being taken care of.

legion of souls -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 2:28:02)

It's good to get another update on Omega. I have gotten a new gaming PC specifically for Epicduel's new graphical update. No more lag on high quality!

I didn't realize it was april fools yet.

not even this computer can handle battles on high graphics because of a combination of how bad flash is and the fact that the characters breathe on highest graphics.
And note, that processor is actually not at 3.4GHz, its overclocked to 4.8 GHz

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 3:13:56)

@above you serious? even my old laptop can handle the high graphics with animations XD i don't even have a fast internet connection.

Provide proof of you running this game on the maximum settings at full framerate. Internet connection has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Dimentic -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 3:59:24)

@Xen That's quite mediocre setup for ED,lolz. I had problems with ED even with a pc that was running Crysis 2 on high settings without any fps issues. Flash is indeed very annoying. Let's hope all these code optimizations will provide smoother gameplay.

-Edited. Typing from smartphone sucks. You didn't get the sarcasm tho.

Claiming that my build is mediocre is absurd.

the i5 3570k is a top of the line processor for gaming, nearly on par (Within 1-5% in games) with Sandy Bridge E socket 2011 processors while gaming.
The GTX 570 is a VERY fast card, but flash just has garbage hardware acceleration anyway. Regardless, the 3570k is absurdly powerful and mine is heavily overclocked.
The only possible way i see myself increasing the flash performance would be upgrading the ram from 1666 to 1866 or 2133, and even then, flash performance doesn't scale well.

EDIT: Crysis 3 isnt out...

SouL Prisoner -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 4:38:21)

My suggestion for compensation, other than varium refund : Enhancement Compensation!

Hun Kingq -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 5:03:04)

What about the nerfs on skills will they be undone?

Balance issues will start with the classes with passive armor with classes versus classes without passive armors especially the classes without a debuff skill that increases damage. For the classes with passive armors this is what it will look like:

Edited to reflect Omega, which classes do you think could have low defense/resistance and put more stat points in other areas since they don't have to use energy to protect themselves?
Mercenary

Defense +6 +5 = +11
Resistance +6 +5 = +11
Or
Defense +6 +10 =+16
Resistance +6 = +6
Or
Defense +6 = +6
Resistance +6 +10 = +16

Tactical Mercenary

Defense +10 +5 = +15
Resistance +5 = +5
Or
Defense +10 +10 =+20
Resistance
Or
Defense +10 = +10
Resistance +10 = +10

Cyber Hunter

Defense +5 = +5
Resistance +10 +5 = +15
Or
Defense =
Resistance +10 + 10 = +20
Or
Defense +10 = +10
Resistance +10 = +10

Classes without passives

Defense +5 = +5
Resistance +5 = +5
Or
Defense +10 =+10
Resistance
Or
Defense
Resistance +10 = +10

That is just the bonus added to defense and resistance without weapon restriction defense and resistance can be super high and due to the nerfs on the blood mage skills, other weak energy skills with no debuff skills that affects defense or resistance or increases the damage that class will have greater problems with getting wins due to high resistance and defense equals low damage they inflict, low damage equals very low health return.

With the low damage energy skills these are the builds that the Blood mage be stuck with
5 focus bot build
high strength build (will be the easiest to defeat)
5 focus defensive build (no offensive skills used just weapons)

What about the cost of retraining the stats on the weapons will the players have to pay each time they want to adjust the stats on the weapons?

Goony -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 6:15:11)

Perfomance in battles seems to have been improved with Omega, we'll have to see how that translates to fully loaded servers, but the new engine will be looked at for performance over the Omega testing phase. It's actually quite a noticable improvement... Wasn't the aim when redoing the engine, but came as a consequence of the changes. Anyway to early to be certain yet!

@Hun King, you can forget about the +1 as Agillity is gone. Balance has changed a bit and testing is not showing up your concerns. Remember that most classes without passive armors have DM or ES and those skills are quite a bit stronger than any passive armor even at low skill levels The classes without passives can now stack all defence or resistance into their weakness. Rage build is the key to tanks and balance will be monitored, but I can say that defensive builds will be far more useable in Omega! I hope my answers to your questions have helped!

zion -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 6:22:39)

Wow this is off topic, but Xendran, the latency of your ram can affect speed just as much as the raw MHz value. Of course the graphics doesn't matter much for Flash, but I wonder if a core i7 makes a difference with hyper-threading? I don't know b/c we are PC twins (almost).

I've got a fairly nice cas of 10-10-10-24 right now, i actually just grabbed some 11-11-11-30 and 9-11-10-28 sticks of 2133 ram and threw them into my motherboard (less of it, mind you, i use my 1666 ram because i have 12GB of it as opposed to a single 4 GB stick of the other two each), and noticed no real speed increase.

If hyperthreading helps, then perhaps there would be a noticeable difference between the 3570k and the 3770k one of the SB-E processors, but i think it's just got to do with epicduels original coding being really poor, because as g00ny said, performance has increased in omega.

Pre-post edit: Just went in game, my first, third and fourth cores go to around 30-40% load and second core (the hell?) to around 70% when running a 2v2 battle at max graphics on 150% zoom with malf and reflex boost going.
I'm not sure what the heck is going on with that odd CPU usage, but its noticably slow at 125 and 150 zoom.

At 100% zoom its not bad, but it has a tendency of dropping the framerate a bit.
Also, 100% zoom (On chrome. It actually seems like it's smaller than 100% when i set chrome to 100% though) is actually incredibly small to the point that i can't play it without straining my eyes.

Stabilis -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 7:37:51)

If you guys want zooming or full screen on EpicDuel, you can trust this SwiffOut developer to do that without compromising performance.

Xendran -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 8:00:12)

The reason swiffout doesnt lag is because it stretches the game and makes it look like trash compared to a proper resize.

DestruRaGe -> RE: At Its Core - January 15 (1/16/2013 8:13:48)

I dont like that breathing animation on high quality anywayz. It looks for me like chars are tired all the time lol.
