Unfortunately, there isn't going to be a January release. Lycus already said the testing period will take 3-5 days (IMO 2, if they go hardcore). I guess we'll have to settle for a February release, an early one at that. As players we really can't do anything, but you know the saying: Better late than never.

gangster a -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 8:04:31)

^ also to add on to jekylls post they have started testing just not updated the DNS yet as they are very busy

SouL Prisoner -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 10:21:44)

To be honest i like Reki's armor design, they look perfect for base armor, must hve a look : http://twitpic.com/bzocc5

Ranloth -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:08:00)

^ Good for you? How does that relate to the DNs? Besides, design is ready for base Armors so Reki can go and suggest it as a new Armor instead.

Lycan. -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:15:17)

C'mon devs, leave omega tournament till after the release (If it's possible) so we can check out the new features and everything before go hamburgers on the war.

The Astral Fury -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:33:37)

Lol with respect to the dev's hair cuts, tournaments, art improvement and other things shoudl be done later their small things, battle engine revamp, new skill cores, new battle upgrading system and TESTING should come last jeez it's not hard to figure out.

Trans- Does everything have to be an argument I know it dosen't relate, but let a mod do that, jeez next you you know my faviorite color will be argued.

It actually pretty easy math, big things= do first, small things= do last or wait until after omega do make these small art and little things that don't affect game play much.

Charfade -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:35:21)

@ Lycan The Tournament wont start when Omega releases, so like you said, players have a chance to learn the new features and practice first before the tournament. However there are some back end coding and graphics that need to go into the release even though players wont be able to start yet. That's what's being implemented now.

Lycan. -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:36:28)

^ That is good, what i was hoping for.

The Astral Fury -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:38:17)

Charfade- I hope the staff knows that the big things should have been done first along with testing and the little things like art improvement and such should be done last or after omega, but I guess that's to hard to figure out. Now we probably would have had Omega, but because you guys worked on hair styles and those small little things (rly?) we have to wait longer because trust me I don't mind waiting for hair cuts and art improments.

Ranloth -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:41:18)

By that, ND meant that they cannot release a stand-alone release and then Omega because that's additional work (coding release and then re-coding to work with Omega). Yes, they initially planned to cut on features when releasing Omega (planned in December) but these features were ones such as interface or hairstyles, these kind of things. So back then, it was 'half' complete release with perhaps changes with battle system at most, rather than any other improvements.

Also trust for Devs and what ND has said? Only because he's an AK, it doesn't make him any special in terms of ED. He's one of the players & he said what Devs said before themselves.

Blitzex/Sr. Zeph -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 11:58:47)

Omega not in January?
What a surprise...

Its only 6 hours till 1 February here but since im 6 hours ahead they still got 12 hours.

I hope they can accomplish what we have done earlier.
(ebilcorp war, won in the very last hour)

Charfade -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 12:30:33)

In regards to your comment Astral Fury, I can legitimately understand from a bystander view this might seem like were dragging our feet. I assure however this isn't the case. I'd like to take a moment to explain a little bit of how it works. We use a system called "scrum" scrum Wiki pageto divide and label the tasks at hand. There are Programing tasks and Art tasks. From there we label the importance of these tasks and make stick post it notes. You've seen these sometimes in our DN posts. When we are finished with the tasks we move the post it note to "Done Land " then move onto our other assigned tasks. Some tasks relay on others. So while one task might not seem important, it might link to one that is much more important. So art tasks might relay on programing or vise versa. Sometimes programing tasks take longer then that art ones, so what you have here in this case, art team is technically a head of the programing tasks. Sometimes this isn't always the case where programing is waiting on art side to complete. Each of our tasks are labeled by how much time we suspect they will take and we block out on the calendar when we expect to complete them so the whole team knows who is actively working on what. Its a delicate balance that changes everyday as hang ups, bugs, and other issues happen where we need to adjust. Which is why having 2 programers and 2 artists come in. Where one might get the hang up the other can move though the task list faster.

Anywho, I know this probably wasn't the answer you were looking for, and chances are everyone is going to take my words out of context. Though I just wanted to mention and perhaps shed some light on the system we use and our work flow.

Thanks again for everyone's patients with the development of Omega. Its been a long and tiresome wait for us too!

Remorse -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 12:37:28)

@ Charfade,

Actually that is pretty much the exact answer we were looking for.

I now know that the art is linked and therefore necessary to complete the coding.

Plus I honestly dont mind long waiting releases.

If they are so feature filled such as omega I would only suggest you guys change from weekly releases to monthly releases.

This way you can actually get full features out instead of having to do small ones which don't need linking in time consuming work and therefore start to become a bit repetitive, Slowing long term progress.

King Helios -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 12:45:27)

11 hours, 15 minutes. Come on DEVS!
EDIT: 94.0625% finished! Let's go!

Charfade -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 12:46:39)

This post was merged and edited without my permission. Its now out of order now in how it was originally posted. It can be disregarded now because it didn't make much scene as the original meaning in the order it was posted was lost. -Charfade

Calogero -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 12:47:00)

I don't mind Delays, I mean the later it gets released the better really.
I just don't like the " stamping a date on it "

I keep hoping that it wouldn't be done but every time a big release is scheduled, there is a date sticked on it and then it's delayed. =/

People would be a lot less annoyed if they don't know the date instead of having a date and then not getting it on that particular date, people will be whining for a date, that's human nature but they can't be disapointed if they don't know when it's released...

It sorta makes a release lose its hype (imo).

I also hope they refrain from making Promo only Cores, because now that Varium isn't that 'needed' anymore, I really wouldn't like to buy 10k Varium just to get a core.

What ?? Do I lose freedom of speech ??(more like freedom of posting) even though the armors r just suggested in forum, not just dragged from Twitter ...

They just look perfect for.basic armors, i dont demand any change, they could always design and can be used later... But as I said "honestly" IMO

Remorse -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 13:46:53)

10% through testing already!

That is a good sign perhaps it won't take a full week to test?

The Incredible Hulk -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 13:58:37)

In my theory, update should be 10 Hours!!!!!!!

-Midnight release would be cool ;P

Ranloth -> RE: Progress!!! (1/31/2013 14:02:25)

DNs have already stated that the release is NOT happening today.

The Incredible Hulk -> Final Balance / Testing Pass (1/31/2013 16:41:35)

quote:

Final Balance / Testing Pass 10%

Prior to going live we'll be working with ALL of our testers to perform several balance tests and make adjustments accordingly. We'll use this time to uncover and squash any remaining engine bugs.
This step is critical and I will NOT release Omega until I and the team are confident that we will launch you the best update you've ever seen.

Wow, 10%, that was quick! Squash those bugs titan!!!! & find those bugs testers!

Hope we have the best update we've ever seen in EpicDuel History!

President Obama -> RE: Final Balance / Testing Pass (1/31/2013 16:47:59)

Yeah hope they come quick! They are saying at the beginning of next week!

SMGS -> RE: =ED= Weekend Progress Report - January 26, 2013 (1/31/2013 17:40:07)

Threads merged and main post updated to reflect the updates to the DNs.

King Helios -> RE: =ED= Weekend Progress Report - January 26, 2013 (2/1/2013 7:21:15)

The developers have finished the Yeti tournament progress! Good job devs!

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= Weekend Progress Report - January 26, 2013 (2/1/2013 7:36:34)

All that remains is testing and bugs (found during testing). I'd expect probably Monday/Tuesday release, depending on how much work is done over the weekend.
