Elloisoul -> Mentor system (4/6/2013 23:46:10)

In an old game i play called Dynasty Warriors online if you reach a certain rank/level you can become a mentor and newbies can ask to be your mentor if you accept they will be your students, and as they grow you get a reward in this game you get gold by a system called stipend which is like payday in that game however , why not make it like this for this game, once they reach the level where they can also become a mentor they will graduate from you and earn AP(Like this games varrium)

For each time your student levels up you get 20 gold , 2 battle tokens
if your student graduates you gain 200 gold, 200 battle tokens and 50 varrium

you can be a mentor starting in level 30 above
you can get up to only 5 students so it doesnt get abuse to much and you can only invite a student once per day or if they ask to join or if you leave as some one mentor it takes 1 day before u can do it again
the graduate reward will only be given if your student levels up 15 levels when u were his/her mentor that way people wont do something like mentor a level 29 to abuse the varrium reward
as well as a Cheevo for
Being a Mentor Teacher
Graduating from being a student
being a student
having a student
Having all 5 of your student graduate

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: Mentor system (4/6/2013 23:48:29)

<3 OH EM GEE LOVE THIS. Id mentor the next comical biker ;)

odsey -> RE: Mentor system (4/6/2013 23:50:52)

Supported, this will encourage player to help people and it has its own fun to teach a newbie/new player:D.

theholyfighter -> RE: Mentor system (4/7/2013 2:13:32)

Sure! However, I'd like to see something like "Increase credits gain by X%" instead of the varium part,

Maqximus213 -> RE: Mentor system (4/7/2013 2:24:15)

Supported. But the Varium idea is no good since some people are able to open multiple tabs, create new accounts and actually, in essence mentor themselves...thus supplying themselves with X amounts of free Varium.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: Mentor system (4/7/2013 2:33:05)

no varium should be included whatsoever.

zer00x -> RE: Mentor system (4/7/2013 3:11:06)

Supported if you only get credits

Sipping Cider -> RE: Mentor system (4/7/2013 12:40:41)

Supported if no varium is given out. This is a genius idea, I know I wished someone would help me out when I started playing EpicDuel. This would also help EpicDuel expand as more people would be inclined to keep playing knowing they have a top level player there for when things just don't seem to be working.

Hey I played that too my name was Voidsun.

I strongly support the general idea of apprentice and master.

ansh0 -> RE: Mentor system (4/7/2013 13:47:16)

How about making it available to Commander rank and above?

I've seen plenty of high levels with a win-loss ratio of 1:4

Tf2 has a system like this.

If you are premium, you can volunteer to coach a f2p, help him understand the game, what to do etc. If that f2p upgrades, he gets the option to select the person who helped him the most.
If you are selected, you obtain an item called Professor Speks.

Support :)

Vagaran -> RE: Mentor system (4/7/2013 13:49:21)

Supported!
It would give older players a reason to play and help.

bobby145 -> RE: Mentor system (4/8/2013 10:49:14)

Supported. When new players join they sometimes don't know what to do and it would be good for more experienced players too teach the new players.Why not make you can become a mentor at level 35 because lower level players will be trying too level up.But make sure no varium is given out.

omega fighter -> RE: Mentor system (4/8/2013 17:45:20)

Supported but no varrium should be in included[:)]

Scyze -> RE: Mentor system (4/8/2013 18:58:36)

So you got the idea from another game? Isn't that copying what some other gaming company made? I know that sometimes games copy each other but they're mostly small things. Copying something like this will probably involve copyright charges.

Hard boy -> RE: Mentor system (4/8/2013 19:07:39)

this is a F2P game on the internet, its not like call of duty taking stuff from battlefield, and its not exactly the same this that game has, he just took the reference, it would be called something else and will have different conditions than that game. just like baseball and cricket right?

It is not copying (stealing and using someone else's (infra)structure exactly as it is laid out). Copyright abuse happens when you sell something exactly the same in detail as someone else who has copyrighted the original product whether it be the patent or the trademark. Dynasty Warriors Online's "mentor system" is not a copyrighted piece of property while the game itself is. People can deviate the original product in few ways and avoid copyright issues completely. Example I make a windshield wiper (movie reference) and then Ford after reverse-engineering my design, rebuilds the windshield wiper but with a differently-shaped blade and a fuselage for holding an amount of wiper wash fluid. Even though Ford basically used my idea and altered it, because it is no longer a "copy" of my wiper they cannot be apprehended on copyright claims. As is the nature of a patent. This is my blueprint, you cannot use these designs; if this component is used I will sue you for copyright. Etc etc, this gimmick of mentoring is not legally bound in any major way. In fact most games sell the same kind of premiums, cosmetics for example and although scarily similar, nobody is up in arms about the other because the copying is not exact. Especially since the graphics themselves are often completely different. So yeah, this is not copyright, even if the inspiration came from another game.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Mentor system (4/8/2013 22:06:13)

Supported, as a low level player who wasn't that experienced I had a lot of frustration from repeatedly losing when I was a level 25. This would really help lower levels become more experienced.

Scyze -> RE: Mentor system (4/9/2013 4:31:11)

@Depressed Void,

Considering what you posted, you're saying it's not copyright-ed?
Yes I know games (and other things) copy things and have nearly/same features in the game itself but they're mostly the basic things. Things that do not matter or affects the outcome in a great manor.

Copying things is still an issue. If you became more popular once that feature was added, can you say, "Oh, we didn't copy your ideas. All that happened was, we were inspired by your ideas"?
As far as I've been told by my I.C.T teacher, copyright charges doesn't always come with selling products. If you make artwork by copying the whole design, it is copying and if you take ownership of it, the original creator can take action with the authorities.

Before you create a game, you need a good name. Names that are legal and not offending anyone. HeroSmash was supposed to be called something like SuperheroQuest. That wasn't allowed since DC comics said "super hero" was their trademark. O_O

As much as this will be helpful, it is also going into the style of other games. If you recruit someone, you get a percentage of experience gained by that person.

Stabilis -> RE: Mentor system (4/9/2013 11:34:03)

^

Here are some things that make this different:

different currencies

achievements

different rewards (DWO is items), gold and battle tokens here

different name (mentor system)

BUT WHAT SHOULD BE CHANGED:

"graduating as a student"

"5 students graduating"

Because that is too similar.

ansh0 -> RE: Mentor system (4/9/2013 11:46:40)

@Neos

Then ED copied credits and varium from a game that came before ED(which uses a premium currency and an in-game currency)?

Then ED copied Turn-Based PvP from another game?

Then ED copied tournaments from another game?

Scyze -> RE: Mentor system (4/9/2013 19:09:01)

@ansh0,

Did you even read what I posted? They're basic things which nearly all games have. PvP is different since its more technical.

Droidzx3 -> RE: Mentor system (4/12/2013 0:03:17)

Sounds good, but maybe there should be a price to become a mentor. Just like jugg, you should buy a mentor ticket for 10k-20k credits.
This would keep out "noobs" and "trolls" or people who aren't comited to farming the credits and helping other people.

kaiseryeux21 -> RE: Mentor system (4/12/2013 3:35:22)

just my opinion, i guess this new system will only get abused because you can use multiple accounts (alts). You can use your alts as your students and getting all those benefits where in fact, you are not helping other players, you are only helping yourself.

Sipping Cider -> RE: Mentor system (4/12/2013 13:10:06)

@kaiseryeux

Unless the Benifits only occurred once you reached a certain level, and spending that much time on alts could e not as benificial as just playing on your primary.

JariTheMighty -> RE: Mentor system (4/12/2013 14:19:18)

Supported alongside with the ideas with no varium involved and ansh0's idea where you need to be a certain rank too (not only level) to be a mentor.

Ban mentors/apprentices that log in from the same IP?
