Snake XZ -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/15/2013 14:24:33)

Acc/Dis: My last, first meet of the XC season for high school. I'm sad and happy for that...
Acc: it was a NIGHT RACE! WOOOO!
Acc: My time? 16:41.62, a whopping 59 second PR from last year.

Chaosweaver Amon -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/15/2013 14:42:47)

ACC: My working out has payed off for this year, it's quite a difference!
ACC: Taking advanced classes in school this year, this improves the chances of getting into my dream college.
???: Helped build a clock completely out of iron, making the time exactly in sync with the magnetic poles apparently. (Not 100% sure though)

Densoro -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/15/2013 23:50:33)

DIS: Facebook debates with dumb people who won't listen. I feel like if I see the violent, hateful ideals another person carries, and I can't destroy them, then I have given that person license to create more victims in the future. I feel like I have to destroy the entire worldview of every abuser and sociopath that I meet, otherwise I have not fulfilled my duty as a psychologist. And there's so many of them. If I can't get even ONE of them to admit that they're mistaken -- or even CONSIDER my argument before cussing me out -- then how am I going to save anybody? Am I morally ALLOWED to get sick of arguing in circles and back off? They take it as a victory for their violent and twisted way of life.

Acc: So glad the debates around here are more fulfilling. I wish more people were like all you guys.

Superemo -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/16/2013 2:31:41)

^I view it as a moral act to attempt to reason with them, regardless of success. There are some people out there with hateful worldviews so deeply ingrained into their personality that the hatred becomes an integral part of who they view themselves as being. For these people, attempting to change their hateful views is tantamount to attempting to convince them that up is down and vice-versa. Attempting to reason with them is the furthest you can get, and any progress made toward changing their views is success beyond expectation.
To put it simply: you can lead a man to school, but you cannot make him learn. Some people simply have no desire to hear any views that do not parrot their own.

ACC: Enjoying my new job.
ACC: More hours at higher pay means bigger paychecks, which means more money I can spend freely.
ACC: Coworkers are all fairly intelligent, leading to interesting discussions during down time.

10inchesjedi -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/16/2013 16:37:06)

3rd year started today.

Acc: NEW RECORD! Fell asleep on the first class of the year!

odsey -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/17/2013 7:36:01)

Dis: Math test tomorrow...
Superdis: The material for the test was lost for me, and I really need to learn
Acc: My teacher will sent a email about the material
Acc: And if he don't, hopefully the test will be postponed.

Densoro -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/18/2013 22:06:00)

DIS: So this is what happens when I pretend to concede an argument against somebody who's advocating morally reprehensible, violent behavior. I end up obsessing over it for weeks, imagining every possible worst-case scenario that could come to pass because I let them go, and end up having multiple panic attacks. It's no wonder my usual reaction is to argue every point until it's dead; this feels terrible.

Womba -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/20/2013 2:40:55)

Acc: Finally finished Inheritance... talk about anti-climactic... Galbatorix is now one of my most hated fictional characters because of inexcusably high amounts of god-mod...

Dis: Getting a tad paranoid again. It is not good for my delicate psyche!

Acc: Meditation. *deep inhale*

Acc: Last chemo for mother... that's one hurdle out of the way now.

Skurge -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/23/2013 8:16:38)

???: Will be leaving AE for a (long) while. Time is unknown, but I will be back eventually.

IceCold -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/24/2013 16:36:46)

Acc: Finally logged in to Herosmash after a long time
Dis: Some people find it hard to believe, that I'm the legit Useless (Ignore the username in here, I made the account before Herosmash)
Acc: Got new guitar picks

Disc Lorde -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/26/2013 1:07:39)

Dis: Failed to complete 3 assignments this week, even after staying up late to try to complete some of them.
Dis: I feel like the homework load for some of my classes is way too high and is getting in the way of my grades, my social life, and my projects.
Acc: I haven't run the numbers yet but I'm guessing I can still make an A in all my courses, let alone a B.
Acc?: I should have more time once I stop farming AdventureQuest for 2 hours most days and cut Friday night game night down from 6 hours to something more reasonable.

Cataclysm -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/26/2013 18:38:08)

???: I have been saying this for awhile now, but it's really coming out now. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK.
Acc: College is fun.

Those two statements are inherently linked.

draketh99 -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/27/2013 2:40:49)

Cata, please do me a favor and get out of my head >.>

Dis: I'm not enjoying being up until 2:40 in the morning sorting out voting method algorithms
Acc- I now have an ISP monitor, and everything looks so pretty on it, I may never leave my room...

Sir Nicholas -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/27/2013 13:59:35)

ACC: A bit of foresight on my part resulted in what I can only describe as a very fortunate outcome. I always have a backup plan in the event my current situation happens to head in a direction I don't like. One of them involves locating the nearest exit - and promptly depopulating the area.

Translation: If you start hearing gunshots, police sirens and have people running away from the direction you're heading - run like you've never run before!

Long story short - a strange man with a gun at my store was involved in some kind of gang-related conflict. I ran and told the nearest security guard. Nobody was hurt, and I lived to work another day.

ACC: Finally figured out how to fix my Youtube page. It's now back to normal, and I will not repeat that same mistake.

DIS: Really need a haircut. My hair is starting to hang down over my eyes. It's never been this long before.

DIS: Some kind of busted pipeline in the front yard - it's resulted in a serious problem with our water bill.

Hollow Knight -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/27/2013 17:41:19)

ACC: Lots of good grades in college.
ACC: Got my license.
ACC: Got my car.

Edgemaster Scion -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/28/2013 16:32:21)

Acc: Just got The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite in the mail and have read through the first three chapters. Having little experience with graphic novels, I wasn't sure what to expect. I really like it. (This is why I don't review books). I just like it. I couldn't tell you why.

Womba -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (9/29/2013 3:36:00)

Dis: Been having some terrifying thoughts that have been bugging me for a while now... gotta figure out how to deal with this soonish or I'll probably go nuts. Already spoke with some of the older people in my family about it... they said: "Yeah you're around that age now. Best to think of something distracting."

Acc: Got my hands on Tales of Symphonia 2 for $20... it hasn't shown any replay value to me so far to be honest...

Acc: Got a bunch of windows replaced. They were "meh" at first but I like them now.

Dis: Prince (old Siamese cat) tore me apart while the workers were taking down the windows and putting the new ones in... didn't surprise me she would get so scared from all the noise.

Dis: Stress getting a biiiit too high again. Can't say I don't take after my mother with how much we both worry about things unnecessarily though...

Dis: Between that, and what's been bugging me for a bit... I can't tell what's making me feel so tired. I eat well and I sleep too much if anything... still can't get any rest.

Acc: Getting cold outside.

Acc: Bought a SPIDERMAN HOODIE! The zipper goes all the way to the hood to make a mask of sorts to boot. Hard to breath but surprisingly easy to see out of it.

Warmonger DragonJax -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/2/2013 6:05:56)

ACC:Somebody gifted me GTA 5

DIS:Don't have PS3

Chaosweaver Amon -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/2/2013 23:40:44)

UberACC: Got a body armor hoodie made of Kevlar with a hood!
ACC: It's freaking AWESOME!
???/DIS? Not sure what to be for Halloween...considered Serial Killer...but it's a bit dark.

Womba -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/6/2013 0:19:33)

Dis: Not feeling well...

Acc: My awful fears have gone down tremendously. But I'm still very nervous sometimes.... this is even worse than all the panic attacks I had some years ago. It's unbearable.

Dis: I just realized... I haven't gone out to do anything besides an occasional restaurant with some family since last May. No wonder I'm so bored.

Acc: I've had a lot of people mildly interested in hearing me out about my new little phobia. It doesn't really matter wether they actually cared to hear about it or not. But getting it off my chest really helped.

???: Lost track of when I'm supposed to return to my doctors for a follow-up appointment. They'll be REAL interested to see what's going on now though.

???: One of the people I've spoken with suggested I probably feel a little empty with all my current woes. When I think about it... that assumption isn't wrong albeit it's not totally correct either.

Dis: Still too timid... I should've called or e-mailed the GED facilities about my dilemma of being unable to pre-register for them... but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm such a weeny.

Dis: If I don't do them soon I'll have to take the classes again once next year rolls around. I honestly wouldn't mind since I wanna get a better grip on math but that also means I'll be forking over A LOT more money.

Dis: Aside from being able to contact them I can't go anywhere since my mother is still ill. So even if I get all my stuff together for it I can't take them just yet. Yeesh... no wonder I haven't spoken with them to get the pre-registration issue fixed.

Eukara Vox -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/6/2013 1:27:01)

???: It is now official. As of 12:00 am, Oct 6, I am the mother of a teenager. My older son turned 13.

Uskius -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/6/2013 10:00:22)

^Congratulations! >:D

ACC: I'm over my pneumonia! Rawr!
DIS: I wrote another Real Person Story...
DIS: ...and I already have an idea for a sequel.
DIS: Still haven't told anyone about the Stupid Incidents with A Knife. :/

draketh99 -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/6/2013 11:07:48)

Congrats, Eukara! And best of luck as well >.> :D

Dis- Laptops are expensive, unnecessarily so.
Dis- I still need one for school, a netbook isn't cutting it anymore now that I have to work with Adobe products...
Dis- Potential customization of laptops is almost as bad as the pricing.
Acc- Finally nailing down a sleep schedule I can work with... I think.

Xplayer -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/7/2013 20:00:05)

???: RIP ArchKnight Xplayer
Acc: I'm still alive.
Dis: My PM box is significantly smaller.
Dis: Wanted to change my name to Qplayer on twitter but apparently it was already taken.
Dis: No more shiny buttons. Lurking is going to be weird.

Hells Elder Brother -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread #33 (10/8/2013 22:44:21)

This may seem late, but I have to post the dates of my events:

September 19th, 2013

ACC: Graduated my final year of High School!
DIS: Going to miss out most of my friends :( On the previous day, I cried. What can you do? Its school life and it is the best as friends are around.
ACC: I will keep in touch with them and hang around with them sometime.

Now:

DIS: Still have to study for my exams. My chances of failing are high :(
ACC: I shouldn't worry about it too much too much. I have better opportunities to find after I complete my exams. Getting a job and going to college :D
