Xendran -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 19:20:23)

I don't want to seem like im trying to be insulting or offensive, but just because you enjoy the challenge and have the correct mindset does not mean that you should be taking so much of it on yourself.
This game is so riddled with inherent mechanical issues that are piled on with bandaid fixes, and a seeming unwillingness to change the core of the game in a significant enough way to fix it, despite the battle engine already being nearly or entirely rewritten.

Also, yes, i would like to rephrase what i said, as it did come off excessively harsh and didn't get the point i was trying to make accross correctly: What i mean is that although the balance team is capable of influencing you in your decisions and potentially changing your mind on things, you still have the capability to veto things, even if the evidence from the balance team indicates that it's not the correct decision.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 19:52:36)

WOW! These are some of the best cores implemented into the game! Finally worth buying :P

Ranloth -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 19:54:45)

With the core that reduces damage on deflections, I'm tempted to switch back to Platinum's Pride and get the Core rather than have higher chance to deflect which is unreliable anyway. But Chairman's Fury or Generator is a tough one - I'll have to forgoe being able to Intimidate twice + Heal + even Shield, to having one cast of each at most. Rage drain seems useful at that.

Tough choice. I quite like Nanosteel Core as well on my Bunny Borg. <.<

Xendran -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 20:00:48)

Chairmans Fury vs Generator is very situational, and are pretty much on equal ground. Sometimes an extra bit of HP will save you from a rage, sometimes removing rage will save you. Often it's one or the other, so it's really luck of the draw. The benefit to generator comes in the fact that you can use it outside of those rage scenarios, but it costs a turn instead of being able to strike during that turn like chairman.

These are examples of good cores that provide actual thought behind which you want to pick for your build.

Ranloth -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 20:08:08)

Although, unblockable + undeflectable attack is also good to have, especially with Energy weapon since Fury is locked to Physical. For a BM, Fury seems better because damage + BL is good but not exactly if you're looking to tank. I like both. .-.

I really do hope these kind of cores keep coming out, i.e. Overshield or Laser Sights. We can reduce the impact of luck on the battle without creating imbalance. Although I could see Aim Assist coming, I doubt we'll see any more cores like these due to everything being covered.
Perhaps cores that give passive boost to HP/EP could be good, like set number (i.e. +15 HP). Could be interesting. Or passive boost to stats - like stat boosters give - that could be a % of our own stats but with a cap so you wouldn't be able to abuse it - possibly good with the idea of HP/EP boost cores. But let's not turn it into a suggestion thread.

What I'd love to see is passive Armor core that reduces the effect of Poison by set %. 3 classes own Poison skill + the new Bot. It'd be somewhat situational core - since it depends on enemy's build - but could come in handy. Probably another example of a good core, passive at that.

King FrostLich -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 22:03:58)

I have to say though, Overshield is useless among all these cores. Why? If I deal 40 damage and it gets deflected, it only does 18 damage which is BARELY any difference to a 50% deflect which only does 20. Even if I do further math, most players never do a 50+ damage on auxiliary or gun except a support merc or someone malfed by a tech mage with high strength and deadly aim.

Ranloth -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 22:28:04)

The % added to deflections (45% to 50%) is lower than the boost of Deflection Shield which 6%, whilst Ninja Reflexes is 4%. I'd say a mini-buff could do, perhaps 2% to make it 1% above Deflection Shield (7%) and I bet they will release same core but for Blocks and that could do 5% instead.

With 40 damage, 5% more gives 2 damage difference. With 7%, it'd be 3 damage. Small difference, yes, but that's per 40 damage + it rounds up (so at 30 damage even, it'll be 2 for 5% and 3 for 7%). It adds up over the course of the battle so that's still a difference of 3 HP less taken in per each deflection.

It's not meant to be too powerful, since it's a passive but a mini-buff could do.

apw_10 -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 22:30:25)

first azrael weapons got ruined by those azrael spirit swords cores, now forst weapons are ruined by this frost shards core... oh god [&o]

Mother1 -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 22:40:22)

@ apw

If you haven't noticed ever since the start of omega they have been making cores that are weaker or exact copies of what was once varium only items. Heck in a year the masses will have access to what I call the azreal's borg in a aux.

I can't wait until they make a core that powers up crits by the amount the infernal intridictor does or less [:-]

kaiseryeux21 -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/26/2013 23:06:25)

might as well try this new cores later. now its proven that the dev's really wanted to turn this game into a luck based games. well, i hope everyone can adapt sooner or later. for the meantime, time to collect those pores.

Blitzex/Sr. Zeph -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 0:55:13)

Hunt is again so lame, requires no skills of whatever.
PvP-ing for not even an hour and i already got
5-4-4-5-7

Seriously way to easy..

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 1:04:35)

^

HOW

I got 4 spores and 1 purified spores after 1 hour

Mother1 -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 1:07:07)

@ zeph

only difference is that the purity spores will continue to drop even after you turn them in. I already turn in 10 of them and more still are dropping.

Blitzex/Sr. Zeph -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 1:07:37)

@SSm
Making 38 wins in 1 hour and some luck should do the trick.

EDIT: Just unlocked the shop.
There are still 486 E's and 490 P'e left.
So you can take your time.

Kogane No Kishi -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 3:02:48)

both gun are physical ?? or it is a bug?

Blitzex/Sr. Zeph -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 3:11:56)

^ It indeed is bugged.

Mother1 -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 3:12:49)

Just finished the missions with an alt. When it is done you get another cheevo worth 1500 rating.

EggHunt one is 1500 Not 1500k

Blitzex/Sr. Zeph -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 3:31:06)

^ Touché.

Didnt notice...

Lycus -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 4:55:44)

I think at the end of the day balance is balance and overall if you look at balance now in comparison to back when RabbleFroth stepped into the position, it has improved greatly. The Balance Team is now mostly the Testing Team, granted, but this makes things much easier since it is a Team of individuals who know the game very well and know balance problems when they see them. The issues noted by them are always taken into consideration, but a lot of the time, things cannot all just be fixed in one week. There are constant changes going on in the game since there is an update every week and if not, very close to; meaning that you cannot just employ one fix, because the game is so dynamic. In a PvP game almost everything effects balance and quite a few times, in unpredictable ways. So creating the correct 'balance patches' for this is something you have to do over time, which is why there are continual balance changes taking place.

One fact that is disputed and has always been disputed is the influence of players and the balance team. People seem to think that if their personal opinion is not taken into account then that means that the whole of the player population is being ignored, not taking into account other players suggestions in the Balance section that have clearly been listened to and implemented a patch similar to what is suggested. As for the Balance Team, they do get listened to a lot, the question is though how long the suggested changes will take. Some balance changes are not simple number changes or a few extra lines of code, they take a lot of time to create and put in place - again, leading to it happening over a period of a few weeks. The main problem with balance though is the fact it is all down to opinion. Numbers of the balance tracker can say one thing, but there will always be players who debate every issue they have with a class even if it is not a balance problem, they simply have a bad build or something of the sort. What is real balance? Balance is a subjective, hypothetical thing at the same time as being a real thing and sometimes it is very hard to distinguish these things apart, both for the Balance Team and for RabbleFroth reading all the suggestions.

One thing that does need to be realised is that people will ALWAYS be bias towards their own class (if it is their favourite class), even if they feel they are not and do not feel they are being, on a sub-concious level it will inevitably make an impact on their verdict. This bias could go both ways, saying it is OP because they do not want to be bias and are over compensating in the other direction or claiming it is too weak, when in reality it is fine. You also have people who go down from a 90% win ratio to 70% then decide there is obviously a balance problem with their class and it is not as powerful as the others and therefore unfair. The amount of times these things happen is insane, but it is a human thing to do. However it is part of the reason we need someone like Rabble in charge of everything since he knows the game inside out, but has no personal connection with any one class and therefore will not be in anyway bias. He also can use the balance tracker with all the information being given by the players/balance team to create fixes for any issues that arise.

It is easy to sit and say 'the issues are here, here and here fix them and you will all be sorted', and 'there are clear mechanical problems, fix them', but balance is something that is very hard to truly achieve, mainly since most of it is in peoples minds and their judgement of fair. We implement all of your suggested changes and I guarantee there will be a whole other party saying how they are wrong and how bad they are, maybe they do help, but that is just how these things work. RabbleFroth introduces changes he can see and/or feels are the best for the game but there will always be people who have a differing opinion.

At the end of the day, if you feel you do not like the balance, then post it in the Balance section and it will be read. If it is not all implemented, maybe it is because you are asking for too much or because of other reasons, not every single change suggested can be implemented into the game. Balance is one thing that will be moaned about by at least one person as any time because people naturally like to moan, we've given out free Varium in the past, people moan about that as well - it is just how it is. Best we can do is read through all the thoughts of the balance team and suggestions from players and formulate patches taking all of that into account as well as what the figures say.

Baron Dante -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 5:53:41)

'm curious about how we are STILL at 1%.

Jekyll -> RE: Patch Notes - 1.5.12 (4/27/2013 5:54:14)

Am I missing something? I don't seem to see a mission which gives the cheevo, only sub-missions which give the credits, sword, et cetera.
