The Three Pillars of Swordhaven

Music

20 years prior to the rise of a hero on a lone cliff just outside Oaklore Keep a room beneath the castle in Swordhaven was being refashioned. The years before that it had served as a part of the dungeon where King Slugwrath had put away and tortured prisoners for all sorts of vile reasons which would make most people shudder with disbelief. Not just humans, on the contrary the old king had indiscriminately loved to wage war on all races and nations he saw as a threat or an opportunity to expand his realm of power.

In this room, three pillars were placed to support the castle and should they haven't then 20 years later the hero could've probably seen the castle collapse from the lone cliff just outside Oaklore Keep.

The first pillar was coated with steel of molten weapons, some still visibly reminding one of their past form and function, from the many wars that had occurred in the years before. It signified the lives of humans, orcs and elves that had been lost to bring victory over the latter two. From the molten steel a dragon's crest stared with its hollow eyes at anyone who would meet its gaze.

The second pillar was made of grey stone from which a dragon's crest was hewn and painted half black and half white.

The third pillar was adorned with crystals which made it lit up and its light made the other two pillars seem like pale shades in comparison. It too was adorned with the dragon's crest.

Between these three pillars stood three chairs, though thrones would be a better term to describe them. These thrones themselves weren't all that interesting for the books of history, but the people who sat on them and the words engraved in them all the more.

On the throne between the steel and stone pillar sat Sir Pulchure, the champion of Swordhaven and acting chief of mastery.

"Bringing faith and pride to the world and all."

On the throne between the stone and light pillar sat Sir Alteon, the balanced through which order manifested.

"Balance we bring with order so fine."

On the throne between the light and steel pillar sat Lady Lynaria, the light which banished ignorance and fear.

"Our light grows brightly with mighty shine."

Both men loved Lady Lynaria as devout as if she were the Lady of Light herself.

Their love brought strife and chaos which threatened to break the bonds of the three pillars.
Though they valiantly tried to keep together, the cracks were apparent and needed only time.

Years after that two of the three thrones lost their owners, King Alteon thought he had no purpose for the room left. Just at that moment he met someone and recognized the reason for its continued existence. He showed the person the room with the three pillars.

"What are these pillars for, your majesty?"

"They serve as beacons."

"Beacons of what?"

"Hope, Faerdin. Beacons of hope .... tell me, have you ever heard of the prophecy regarding the dragonboxes?"

The fourth pillar is history ....
