Xendran -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/19/2013 15:21:51)

@Drianx

1. Answered previously. Was just a bad use of wording, i'm gonna fix that.
2. Build change, fight 15 npcs, change back till end of hour. Seems easy enough to me. If you want the more predictable wins, you gotta build for it.
3. 15 seems fine.

Drianx -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/19/2013 15:33:31)

@Xendran

One observation - retraining in Omega, which includes reallocating points for your items, is quite expensive to be done twice an hour. In fact it could be more expensive than the gold you earn from the wins during that hour.

Oh and I support this idea. I've mentioned the benefits of bringing NPCs back myself few months ago, but perhaps the community and devs were not prepared to take it seriously back then.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/19/2013 15:39:18)

@drianx
doesn't have to be twice an hour.

u can change to the NPC build at 1:45, do ur 15 NPCs (assuming it takes 15 minutes) wait for the next hour, and do the next 15 and be done at 2:15.

then change regular pvp build, and u wont need to change to the NPC build till 3:45

kosmo -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/19/2013 15:44:34)

npc are unfaire to all of those players that like pvp.
if someone has problems getting alot of wins or a good win ratio (80-90%) its not rlly foult of npc change, most of u guys are raging on old npc return only because of this, i will just suggest u to try and enjoy pvp(even if rewards r not involving...)

Drianx -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/19/2013 15:51:00)

@goldslayer1

Yeah, well I'm not against buffing NPCs, it's just that I think it is rather useless.

Just to see my point better, what would you prefer,

1. Having harder NPCs but to be allowed to get 15 NPC wins an hour, or
2. Having rather easy NPCs but be allowed to have like 8-10 NPC wins an hour?

As a casual player I would prefer #2.

Main question is, what kind of player would prefer #1?

Or maybe why couldn't we have 2 types of NPCs?
- Easy ones, but limited to 8 wins per hour,
- And hard ones, limited to 15 wins per hour.

Sorry for inconsistence, but I kept writing ideas as they were coming.

Which is the kind of response i'm looking for, because it helps evolve concepts.

beastmo -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 0:41:48)

Honestly I agree, tons of people quit cause of NPC removal. Bring back the herd.

comicalbike -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 1:54:41)

at least we got something from the game and it was fun
now we have nothing to do every day till missions or wars
give us dailies or weekly thing to do or both you took the fun away

kosmo -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 6:37:24)

npc was just a bad idea, and the fact they have been here for almost 5 years doesnt change this.
why should i try to get a good ratio in pvp when other ppl just need to fight 15 npc an hour to get in lb whit 100%?

whatever i agree whit goony's idea; i suggest like a 5% to face an npc in battle, it will still give u like 10 free wins a day.

Drianx -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 6:52:57)

@kosmo

You fail to get it.

There are millions of people on the planet that can run 100 meters in 20 seconds, but there are only few thousands that can run 100 meters in 10 seconds. If you could virtually make money from every runner, would you ignore the millions of casual runners for those hardcores? By the way, the sport wear companies make money out of regular people, not of professional sportsmen.

There are a lot of casual players which are not interested in going hardcore. They are happy with 20-50 wins a day without having to be called 'noobs', getting annoyed because of bad balance and so on.

NPCs were here for them.

EDIT: If I were a game admin, I would be happier if the majority of players stayed around for years NPCing rather than going hardcore and quitting in anger after few months.

kosmo -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 7:11:51)

old npc were not here for casual players at all, NOW they are usefull 2 casual players, because they can get credits from them whitout lvling up, so they can upgrade weps.
if a casual player is not intrested in going hardcore, why should he be intrested on getting a good ratio or a lot of wins?

whatever, i think that a pvp win should not be compared 2 a npc FREE win.

Drianx -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 7:35:32)

Do you know anyone in Epicduel who is completely ignorant about his ratio?
quote:

...or a lot of wins?

Nobody said casual players want lots of wins.

They actually want
- to be able to enjoy peaceful and predictable gameplay
- to be able to play but avoid being cursed or other unnecessary chat
- to not be forced to change class or retrain to the strongest build whenever a bad balance shift occurs
- to know precisely how much time he needs in order to help his faction with a required amount of wins

These are some of the benefits NPCs provide.

quote:

whatever, i think that a pvp win should not be compared 2 a npc FREE win.

A win using a weak class and a weak build should not be compared to a win using a strong class and a strong build.
A win of a lv30 against a lv35 should not be compared to a win of a lv35 against a lv30.

And the list continues, quite a lot of unfairness eh?

Doesnt matter, because the leaderboards have already been desecrated.
Also, you seem to have completely ignored

quote:

Your rank icon should be pushed a bit to the right, and a new category beside losses called "Win Ratio" should be added. It would just show your % win ratio.
Below Juggernaut wins is NPC wins.
This way you can keep your wins counting towards your ranks, but also have your true pvp win ratio displayed.

which is at the very top of the thread. Because of this, it makes it look like you're arguing simply because you want to argue.

Also,

quote:

A win using a weak class and a weak build should not be compared to a win using a strong class and a strong build.
A win of a lv30 against a lv35 should not be compared to a win of a lv35 against a lv30.

And the list continues, quite a lot of unfairness eh?

is something that you cannot ignore, and further invalidates your point.

EDIT: Funnily enough, NPCs actually could end up being HARDER than fighting a level 30 at level 35, since you have to fight a level 35 NPC to get the win.

Noobatron x3000 -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 7:46:48)

I completely agree with this NPC should be brought back how they were. I don't think people should have to pvp in a game that isn't balanced correctly. But above and beyond that no game should be solely PvP or PvE there is more of a argument for solely PvE as that attracts a larger crowd it makes no sence to me the devs move on NPCs its like they are trying to siphon the player base. And i don't want people to say you can still NPC cause after 100 you get nothing for it . If someone wants to play NPCs all day that is their business its their gaming experience. Tbh the whole counting towards your record doesn't bother me but you should still get xp and credits regardless.

Xendran -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 7:49:32)

quote:

The reason i don't like this is because it creates a LOT of 2v2 players that are so bad that my mind literally cannot even begin to understand the things they do in battle.

Noobatron x3000 -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 7:54:00)

^ I must admit I've come across a few "lol builds" with strategies to match. However honestly i don't think the npcs are to blame for such cause bluntly i don't think they could kill a npc.

NDB -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 20:55:09)

^lol, yep.

Mother1 -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:02:49)

Something that confuses me big time. A lot of people have been claiming NPC were used for an escape of bad balance from PVP. My question is what is stopping you from doing so now? You can battle NPC unlimited unlike before and you can still escape the bad balance by gathering credit rewards for things you want.

Or is it that people just want NPC back so they can have their punching bags for wins back (since it doesn't take much to find a NPC within you level range or even at your level to grind on? Because in all honestly that is the only difference between all the other phases and omega with NPC.

hijinks -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:06:57)

They could bring them back with EXP and decent Credit rewards. Just without counting for wins or losses.

NDB -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:07:50)

@Mother1 um, first of all, to get decent rewards you have to fight someone your same level or close. Second, you can't kill nearly as fast, especially since no one uses the debuff+mass trick anymore. And... yeah. There's not much of a point when they don't count as wins, give xp, or tokens. I mean really. I lot of us don't even need those credits. Escaping bad balance is one thing, but wasting time is another.

Mother1 -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:20:44)

NDB

The point I was bring up was that even without wins they can be used as an escape. From your response it is proving the point that people only challenged them for easy wins due to them not being able to counter like a regular person could.

NDB -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:23:38)

quote:

read that. i'd rather have bad balance rather than nothing. either that or i'd just stop playing.

Mother1 -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:25:23)

NDB

You are still getting credits which means you are still getting something in return. and the point that no one wants to challenge them because they don't give WINS proves my point once again.

NDB -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:26:57)

You question is why nobody NPCs anymore even though you still get credits. And I answered it; people don't care about credits.

Mother1 -> RE: Why NPC wins are good for the game (5/20/2013 21:31:29)

NDB

I kind of find that one funny because if this was the cause then the staff wouldn't have put a cap on NPC rewards which was in a one of the last updates.
