Static Smash is way OP. At max it steals about 30-40 Energy depending on strength while giving back about that amount too. And it costs no energy.

Yep. I'm sure they're aware that it's OP but are giving merc a bit of time as the OP class until it gets nerfed down to a normal level.

Note that it's only SLIGHTLY op, not by a lot.

Ok yeah, I exaggerated a bit. It's only a little OP, especially since it's blockable, but still OP.

So because Mercenaries got a new Skill that works like Assimilation, you call it OP? I mean, we cannot deal damage with that.
I am now finally surviving the caster Tech Mages (and even beating them) who keep on draining my Energy and I presume its OP because you're losing to them.

This Skill has made the Class good again and even if I wasn't a Mercenary, I would've said its not completely OP. You'd rather have Classes which are weak and you can beat them or have a challenging Class?

eh no it doesn't work like assimilation it works like EMP and assimilation combined, with the fact that it drains up to 40 or even 50 energy depending on their strength, so those strength abusers could easily use this to counter energy drain moves that drained their energy so they couldn't use beserk or other skills, the % is too high, it needs to be lowered by a few, and no not just casters get smashed by them but bloodmage, cyber hunter too

Why do people assume OP means "crazy insanely powerful skill that gives wins all the time"?
Overpowered means anything that is stronger than it needs to be. This skill is slightly stronger than it needs to be. Not a lot, but slightly.
OP is not black and white, there are varying degrees of it.

Really? The highest I've drained so far is 21...

Oooh, all that's changed is that you can now drain a percentage of the actual damage. It's still the same thing but you gain Energy. What else do you want? Mercenaries to get Reroute like the Tactical Mercenaries?

It's always been able to drain this high. Even in Delta, you could do this. I don't even know if it's possible to drain that high actually. :/

Before you think of this, don't think I'm defending Mercenaries, even if I wasn't, I would've done this. All that's happened is that Mercenaries are stronger now and you're not happy with that. What is this?

@only lvl 29 just max hybrid armor max static and the rest goes to bunker buster, works for me

i said it works like assimilation and EMP combined, not just working like assimilation lol XD
oh yes I'm very happy pounding other classes with my alt mercenary, I'm not unhappy, just that this skill is a bit too good.

One of the problems with merc is that the devs seem to be encouraging a very specific playstyle: Support spam.


Huge aux damage
Huge multi damage
Huge crit rate
Blood Commander for HP regain and high regular damage
Static Smash for massively buffed EP regain on a support build

This lets you pretty much loop massive damage attacks now. Mercenary isn't a class you can bandaid fix by giving it a load of energy regain. THIS is how you improve class balance.

Stop advertising your ideas.

Why do people only think about abusing builds like Support or Strength? You're forgetting that there are people who aren't those types.

I love my build because it's awesome! I changed it this morning from my previous one since my Atom Smasher in Delta would get 25-29 Conversion and I want it to be similar.

Never seen this happen in the same battle in my life. How often do I see support Mercenaries with a Club? Hmm... Let me think... Maybe twice! It's also rare to even see a Support Mercenary use Blood Commander.

Yeah the new move is fine as is. It's like assimilation except when its blocked
it doesn't steal the full amount and it doesn't dmg you while doing it.

Don't expect it to get weaker at it's current state as it is FINE. NOT SUPA DUPA OP.

Assimilation hasn't been nerfed what is your thoughts on this less powerful moved being changed?

Static Smash that is good move. I like it. That bring back 5 focus club build back.
Now mercenary can be beat caster techmage. Before updates that is almoust imbosible.

I'm pretty sure that Atom could drain that much EP prior to the update. So it now drains it for free, okay. Now the return - is it that OP in Merc's hands? It's a Mercenary, not TM. It's much harder to loop it and I imagine the effect is minimised to 15% at block. If anything, % can be toned down for the return. Nothing else is needed, really. And I don't mean by a lott - look at old SC - but perhaps 10-20% of what it is now (if it's 50% return, 10% of it is 5% less & 20% of it = 10% less).

It's not that bad. Mercs cannot be as powerful as say Reroute + Assimilation combos, Mercs have HA that's ignored on Crits + Rage, and Intimidate as a defensive debuff (defensive, not offensive). It balances out quite well.
