The Basic Instinct -> Op Bounty Hunter builds (7/5/2013 19:35:38)

I have noticed Bounty Hunters getting obsessive amounts of health and strength not to mention also having shadow arts and blood lust making it the most OP build in Epic Duel
This class CLEARLY needs to be nerfed. Nuff said. A combination of the skill Shadow Arts and the core Ninja Reflexes makes the possibility to land a strike slim to none.

Bounty hunter build Ex.
150 health
78 total strength
66 total tech
33 support
max smoke screen
lvl 6 heal
lvl 5 shadow arts

How should it be nerfed? Devs won't do anything because what should they do? They can take out Smoke and BL, it's a nerf but overshot. But hey, you've said enough which helps the Devs, right? <.<

BL and SA will be turning into active skills. There won't be any changes until then (after the War) so you have to put up with it until the change is made, then you can talk about nerfing or buffing classes.

i think bounty hunter's other skills needs to be stronger in order to change tactics and stop using the build and use any other build with ought thinking whey cannot win with it
every other skill needs to be stronger so that bounty hunters don't have to rely on smoke to get the most out of their passives to they can win. I want skills of my own choice but if i do it will make me a loser.[8|]

Seems like you're pretty angry about this. I mean I was just saying it was Op and your getting all aggressive over it. Do you have a similar build?

I don't support a nerf to bounty hunter. In fact I don't even find them overpowered. they have high HP which means low defenses. I win sometime against them I lose sometimes against them but as for overpowered I don't see it.

Not only that you haven't even given any suggestions on how to nerf them at that. I can take one point of damage from their stun grenades at each level and leave it at that and the class would have received a nerf. Next time give some ideas so the readers of this thread can give suggestions on either how to improve on the idea, or stay why it is a bad idea.

:( dude, dont you already think bounty has gon thru enough? db gone, massacre nerfed, whatnot. they hav aleady recieved their share of nerfing man. they are fne as it is right now. the builds you talk about are easy to counter. just build tank or have a strong physical shield. or just go focus 5 tank with a high emp or energy taking skill. trust me, the builds you are talking about arent op dude.

Honestly, it depends what class you are. But str BH i know for sure is easily beatable with CH.

Static smash their energy away so they can't smoke you for starters. Since Merc is a mix of offense and tank if they can't weaken your defenses they will have a harder time. Also use intimidate on them. Since these bounties are high HP strength bounties weakening their strength helps more.

As a BM it is a 100% loss if they EMP you unless I get lucky. Face it--without shields or heal they can smoke away and slaughter you. Even if they don't EMP, once they use their second smoke, your dead. Frostbite does not help against those who have level 7 smoke and somehow--not sure if it's a coincidence--have 15 left over energy after that 50 energy for 2 smokes. I have seen many of them like this. But the "stupid" ones who don't have this extra energy, do not EMP, are extremely easy to counter and defeat. Still though; all in all, they really need to reduce the effectiveness of smoke and EMP. This would help with tech abusive focus BHs too which I also see a lot and lose to if I get EMP'd. I mean c'mon. Even a strength BH with only moderate tech can get a smoke 40 easily, and it doesn't even have a very high energy cost or support requirement. And tech abuser or not, those EMPs always hit 40 if yo level it up a bit. Extreme 4-focus BHs are nearly 50 and even with a level 1 smoke manage to reduce your dex by 30+. It's ridiculous for the amount of energy these things cost. If someone can happily tell me a step by step counter to defeating these 2 builds I'd be happy to stop complaining. But even now, with a solid 85%+ win rate in the 1,000 battles I have done since I changed to Blood Mage, these are the most challenging (well, that and Strength Blood Mages.)

this just says one thing. This build is your bane build the one you are suppose to have a challenge with. All builds are suppose to have a build they struggle against and from what you are telling this one is yours. As to counter it you have reflex boost to counter smoke, and you also have intimidate as well to lower their strength.

Unless you hadn't noticed static smash does no damage; furthermore, it would be a waste of a turn especially when they have over 130 hp and great strength.

Well, make sure you get an assault bot.


Also, intimidate, static smash, and maul (lvl 1) will come in handy. Maybe get berserker when u need to take em down.

But please, intimidate and static smash are the most important.

I mean when they EMP you. Otherwise they are extremely easy. That's why I am saying both Smoke and EMP should be nerfed--Tech BH is the oher build besides Strength and this will bring them down a bit too.

Smoke and EMP simply should've been moved where they aren't close to each other in the skill tree. Things will become too easy with that tech spamming.

I'm just going to speak from personal experience. The only BHs that are difficult to beat are the ones with Azreal Aux with I've made heavily clear I despise it far more than any cookie cutter Tact Merc. The rest I simply reflect and go to town.

Defense Debuff + Azreal Aux = no no.

As a merc I'd say stick to deflectables and abuse intimidate, normally these BHs have all their physical attacks as strength-based skills. It can also help to use static smash or an energy remover after the first smoke so that you can't get smoked again. Surgical strike can also be very useful if used before the BH rages.

Hold on hold on Bounty Hunters are not even Overpowered. Most players just become angered because they can not find a way to counter the builds. I've seen my friend (who is a mercenary) go 100% on the Leaderboards for nearly 50 wins and that isn't overpowered?? Actually, it's not. It's all about countering these days. You won't be able to take out every class and every build with the build you have now, or any build for that matter.

Class actually does matter in this game because some classes can take out other classes easier and some can be harder. I've seen some Bounties with like 75% to 85% on the board but I have also seen Tech Mages, Mercenaries, Tact Mercenaries, and even Cyber Hunters do that as well. If anything, none of those classes should be nerfed, but Blood Mages need a buff. Maybe switch out Intimidate for Smoke Screen, and Bludgeon for a Passive skill that boosts connect chance to counter Shadow Arts.

all passive skills will be turned into active skills sometime after the war, so giving bloodmage a passive skill to counter another passive that will soon be going is counterproductive.

However everything else in your statement I actually agree with.

It doesn't have to be this way though. They don't have to turn them into active skills. If they do, I will guarantee you we will have all types of problems coming up out of no where. Best thing to do now is change the little things and see if we still need the big changes.

Your probably getting offended because your a bounty hunter.....yeah I looked at your character page. Anyway I SPECIFICALLY said that bounty wasn't OP. I said that the BUILD was ok?

Except when that bounty hunter has the Azraels will skill core. I'm not saying that bounty hunters are OP, I'm just saying that the specific build they use Overpowers merc. And to have a very good intimidate would require good support which would take away from a decent tank build.

Reduce the effectiveness of EMP?

It wastes a turn to spend a relatively considerable amount of energy to take energy that is only notable with higher technology and is usually healed or otherwise looped back, doesn't return any energy, and doesn't deal any damage. But I suppose it still needs a nerf.
