We'd like to offer congratulations to all of the Finalists - best of luck to each and every one of you in the battle ahead.

For the Finals round, a more aggressive enforcement of the post schedule will be followed: You must post once every three days (every 72 hours). Speak to us if you have questions or concerns.

The Finals are slightly different from the drop-offs: every three days a character will be cut from the competition while those remaining continue to fight. For the sixth cut, when three combatants remain, the victor will be chosen. If you are cut, you have three options:

  • Withdrawal, where your entrant will know that he has not been deemed fit to continue, and can thus withdraw if he or she so desires,
  • Surrender, where your entrant becomes open to free kill by any remaining competitor or
  • Spite, where your entrant may use all of their remaining energy in a final, last ditch attack against the other competitors; however, after doing so, they are open to free kill by any remaining competitor.

    The first cut will be the following Tuesday, July 30th, unless someone idles out, which we certainly hope does not occur.

    The Finals Arena is posted, and open!

    As such, the Cellar, Sky and Fountain Arena's IC threads will be reopened for those remaining to continue the fight (or depart) and those chosen to post any remaining actions before they are transported to the Finals.

    This might be sticking my nose out a little too far, but what happened to Aura and Phaera? >.> I don't recall them dying/disqualified. <.<

    Aurauris was not disqualified. Her showing with Phaera was duly considered (and we were in fact impressed.) However, RoninofDreams, with Kieran, gave the better showing in the preliminary round this year, and was therefore selected as Wind Finalist.

    I had an awesome time competing in the Championships. Will deffenitly be entering next year, I've already started thinking about characters.

    Good luck everyone! And just y'all wait till next year, I'll blow all competitors out of the water! That is, if I can pull of my champion well enough.

    Anyways, Scylla, fight well and show everyone that water always wins!

    EDIT: Reading through the first post of the IC, I realize that the announcer has an odd speech mannerism that vaguely reminds me of Wintin. Do last year's champions become the announcers of the present?

    Made a small exit post, as well as set up where she could be found in a future RP.

    Never intended to make the finals this year. Congratulations and good luck to all finalits, and I hope to be here next year, trying my hardest to make the cut!

    Yeah, it said it was the "Champion of yesteryear," so it's Wintin.

    Aaaaaaaaaand posted! Sorry it's so long. T.T Gabriel has a lot of issues that need working out. I figure I'll be the first target, this time, instead of attacking everyone at once. ^_^

    I can't wait for everyone else's posts! Congratulations to everyone who made it in, and good luck next time to those who didn't!

    Posted. Due to circumstances not in my control, I wound up being beat to the first-post punch after all. Ah well. =P

    Frankly, I'm tired and thankful to be done with such a massive post. It actually is an intensely frustrating feeling for me to make such a long post for the EC, even for a Finals intro...but there was simply that much to have to cover. Hopefully, I'll be able to have more concise posts as things progress!

    Or maybe not. Depends on what you lot throw my way.

    To clarify - while the first cut will be made on the 30th, you need to post by the end of tomorrow, Sunday, July 28th, in order to avoid idle death.

    Why did I not attack, one might wonder? I will answer by quoting a wise Kellhound who shares my thoughts on the nature of an important topic relevant to combat posts: "Simultaneity only stretches so much, and then it snaps like a rubber band and stings your hand." At least one attack of note has to at least partially resolve first, before it would make sense without stretching to a snapping point.

    Now if only that same Kell wasn't one of my opposition, making me internally gripe about giving him credit for a quote. =P

    It will still protect KJ
    It will not protect the fake
    However, it will protect the fake if someone is actively trying to hurt KJ and mistook the fake as the real deal.

    It looks like the time for the first cut is finally upon us. After reading all of the posts to this point, TD and I have discussed them at length and found ourselves in pretty strong agreement on this one. We'd hoped that the grammatical issues we found in the Dropoffs would improve come the Finals, but that seems to not be the case. Combined with a character that is neither engaging for the reader nor truly engaged in the contest, we're left with little choice.

    The Pillar of Energy lets out one last roar before flopping down on the scarlet sands below. xaxtoo, it is with regret that I announce that you have been cut. Should you want to retreat, your gate will reappear on the wall behind the Energy Pillar and will transport you and only you out of the Arena.

    The next cut (barring idle) will occur on the evening of August 2nd, three days hence.

    Tis literally just a paragraph! Yet one whose very timing of action pretty much necessitated happening in media res of Kell's post. (Also, by not trying to insert it in mine via Agreed Action, my post remained a tighter and better flowing product if I do say so myself. Less issues!)

    Here we are once again - another day, another cut. This time, there were two individuals that ended up being discussed - in terms of skill and ability, they're just about even. As a result, we were forced to consider everything about each. In the end, it was this participant's general attitude and OOC conduct that managed to tip the scale ever so slightly in their direction.

    The Pillar of Darkness smoothly slides one of its legs back and kneels before the crowd, gracefully admitting defeat. Necro-Knight, I must regretfully announce that you have been cut. Should you wish to retreat, your gate will reappear on the wall behind the Darkness Pillar and will transport you and only you out of the Arena.

    The next cut, barring idle of course, will occur on the evening of August 5th (Monday), after three more days have passed.
