@DeathGuard: Agreed.

@Cyber: I'm pretty sure that judging hasn't started yet. So you'll be okay. Might want to ask Asu though, the timelord will tell you if judging has started.

ND Mallet -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:18:52)

I would like to ask you to be civil. Players are entitled to their own opinions. It is entirely fair for someone to win twice because they put the effort into doing so. It would be like winning a marathon and then being told next time you run that you can't win so you can be fair to other participants. I do not know of any contests where you cannot win again if you are worthy of winning. Any further complaints about this will be deleted and warnings sent, especially if they are uncivil and rule breaking.

Redingard -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:23:23)

I just hope that some truly original entries win. We don't need any more "dark princes" or god...actually, we don't need any OP characters in general. If we get characters like this, it'll be a good contest. If not...I won't like the characters, that's it. Can't tell Nulgath what he should pick, so I guess I shouldn't worry. :U

Cyber doom5 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:25:55)

heh redingard

that sounds like my hunter character

or my blood reaper character

and if you view my Soul warden as a enchanted knight like i do

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:34:44)

@Mallet
I'm entitled to my opinion but you're telling me that my opinion is wrong?

Cyber doom5 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:36:41)

@Mallet

American idol, The Voice, Art Prize

those are just 3 where you cant win multiple times

Redingard -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:42:36)

My submission had a pretty huge error towards the end. I forgot to say that he lost a bunch of his power; thus, making me a hypocrite when I said "I don't like OP characters". But Beck caught it and helped me. So there's that.

@Cyber

Then I guess I don't like them. Your point being?

Mritha -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:45:30)

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion. However, said opinion must be posted in a civil manner without complaining or arguing, as I see many posts were doing. You are free to post your opinion, provided you state it in a civil manner and leave it at that. If someone disagrees with you, don't argue the point just because their opinion is different and you think they are wrong because of it. Either take it to pm, or agree to disagree. Do NOT spend a page fussing over a petty disagreement.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 17:52:36)

@Mritha
I thought I was being civil, but I will definitely take it out of the thread if it goes on too long in the future.

Resk -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 18:01:24)

To give a basis for my stance, I'll start with an explanation, I work in a gaming shop, which has weekly tournaments, and of the 30+ players that enter each event, the winners are always among a small group of 5-6 of them.

If they have put the effort & skill & time into the contest, I feel it is fair that they are rewarded for it, and that in turn, it promotes the players that lose to learn from their past mistakes, improve upon it through learning from others. If you lose because you are worse, it's hardly the other persons fault for putting in more time to learn the skills needed.

I haven't won one of these, but if someone else feels that they would rather vote for someone who has won multiple times due to them -being good at what they do- then I'll just have to keep trying until I reach a level to compete with them, if they vote because of biass towards that particular person, ofc that will annoy me a little, but with the number of votes, that shouldn't be too much of an issue for individual entry's.

If there was a way to have each one done anon' until the end of voting, that would be nice though...

-Resk

Beck -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 18:11:41)

@Resk
That's why I didn't enter the first OS contest, and then spent the 2nd drawing fanart instead xP I knew I stood no chance in the art department, so I had to improve first.

Plus guys, keep in mind that even if you don't win, this is still great practice for future events, and a way to get your name out there.

And also remember that whether you like their ideas or not, each contestant put a little bit of themselves forward in submitting their entries. Don't be too harsh in criticizing them, since they at least tried to create something. If it's not to your taste, vote for something else, or even better, create one of your own. Let's keep this civil and supportive.

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 18:12:55)

@Redingard
Why does it feel that you were directing that at me with the dark princes and gods? [:D]

Anyways reason why I suggested what I suggested was because I'm just sharing the characters that I've written out for my novel on their context of description which wasn't written out as properly as I hoped.

I wonder when the polls are going to be up, but the thing is that I've noticed is that the writing entries have seriously grew in length last time I competed. I didn't want Nulgath to read huge lines of text after he works so I pretty much minimized what I wanted to write for this contest.

Resk -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 18:27:51)

In regards to length, many have indeed grown, as has mine, though i did just expand my paragraph that got 3rd last time, to a decent sized story, hoping that it catches his eye at least, but if not, oh well xD, though slightly annoyingly, the number of 'fallen angel' esque characters is 10 fold what it was last time, so i'm less 'unique' than the 2nd contest :3

Cyber doom5 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 18:34:24)

can i be in your novel?

like random peasant infinity was put out of work when he took a javelin to the elbow

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 18:37:20)

@Cyber
I'll try, but my novel expands to countless worlds and different timelines from sci-fi to fantasy or a mix of both.

Next time for the contest I'll use my ace card: "The Embodiment of Madness"

I've got the intro to that worked out well to continue off on the story.

Cyber doom5 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 18:57:01)

i got the embodiment of madness's name

Vezon

look him up

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 19:02:38)

@Cyber
Hehe... he is to say much different than Vezon in my novel.

Out of all the characters I noticed I'm missing one character that is the Engineer who I guess I will find by training VK.

ND Mallet -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 19:10:00)

I'm just going to keep entering Nedric until he at least gets into the finalist section. I'll also be making different characters to enter.

Redingard -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 20:00:41)

@Mondez

It isn't. If not for the herd of others sitting around on Twitter and the Suggestion Thread, I probably would have been easier on you. Just know that you have gotten the wrong impression, but I apologize if you feel insulted.

Anywho, my goal is to get Cyrano into the Finalists at least. At this rate, based upon how my entry improved, he should be in OS lickity-split. [8D]

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 20:08:15)

@Redingard
No worries man. I'm not taking it seriously since I do have to say that the number 1 suggestion would be deities and such because in a mindset a all powerful being is usually the most enticing character to play.

For me the biggest characters are my usual picks. I would love to use DD more, but that lag I swear disrupts my fun when I use him. Once King Klunk is released I will use him almost everyday as my Earth main because in comparison Ogres are just raw power, but their sheer size makes them deadly.

Cyber doom5 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 20:12:15)

I'll tell you guy what I told others

No one wants to play as bob the average citizen

They want to play as The Soul Warden of The Black Tower

Or a powerful legendary necromancer

The stories we must write are designed to make our characters sound powerful

ND Mallet -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 20:15:01)

@cyber My character went toe-to-toe with Nulgath and probably would have turned him into a pile of smoldering ash if Nulgath had decided to stick around instead of sneaking away in the heat of battle.

Redingard -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 20:16:25)

@Mondez

I think Taurus is just as big as Klunk. maybe a little smaller. But he could give him a run for his money, depending on just how powerful Klunk is.

For me, dark and powerful characters are great. But sometimes, you need that guy that isn't outstanding. The classic Vampire Lord or Pumpkin Lord are great characters that aren't too ridiculous. Earth Wizard is also fun to play as.

Cyber doom5 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 20:23:30)

exactly @ND

we write tales of powerful heroes and villains so they sound awesome and we would want people to play as them

we dont write stories about average guys who stand on the side lines and watch as the heroes fight

Are you serious? @thejop

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (8/31/2013 20:25:43)

Most likely when Klunk is released, we will get a different deck compared to the dev deck that has the 5000 damage card.

I like dark characters time to time, but geez have we gotten a lot of them although that is the preference taste at the moment.

You know with the VK on the raptors may be the variation of VK that Nulgath promised for those that missed stress testing, but I'm just pulling a rabbit out of the hate for that one.
