Seems like Antithesis is winning for Art, come the next Contest. I'd be damned if I was wrong, too; that art is amazing! The short excerpt he has for it is quite good as well. After some time, I'm sure that it'll be a great entry. Both story and art; that's a shocker.

Gonna be mean here and say that the outstanding entries didn't make it. Nulgath chose them according to originality. It doesn't correlate to skill. The entries are far less than stellar...especially the Writing portion of the contest.

And all I had to do was make an Evil Gentleman.[:D]

But all jokes aside, it gives me hope that one day I WILL get a Gentleman entry in game. Lords know I won't stop trying till I do.

OK, let me stop you right there guys! It`s always difficult seeing that something that you worked hard at and are proud of wasn`t appreciated. And that can lead to outbursts of frustration and discontent.

Understandable but the forum rules are clear regarding this type of behavior. So if you haven`t got something nice to say about the contest entries, don`t say anything. It`s difficult but it is a better choice then posting things when you are angry and disappointed, things that sound harsh, even if you think they are legitimate. ~Balu

It helps to come up with something already possible in-game when you choose the cards. The entries I made for the previous contests involved plenty of cards I just made up, like energy stealing and utilizing ones so I never made it to voting.

Just curious, what are people's opinions on my entry? I'm always willing to accept criticism long as it's constructive. And getting even into the running is pretty impressive considering I wrote it just after waking up, though in fairness I DID write it for a while.

Also, tis a shame I'm not winning. It would appear even when I make a Gentleman evil AND a Nulgath follower I STILL can't pull the winning votes. That's... kinda demoralizing me in Gentleman making TBH.

Also, the other entries look good. Though I'm not a fan of angel characters. As usual, I am glad to probably lose to such good ent- AWFORGETBEINGNICEIWANNAGENTLEMANINGAME! (breaks down crying)[:D]

But seriously, the entires I'm against are good and also deserve to win.[;)]

And THIS gives me hope that my League will one day be in game:

It's a good story that clearly appeals to people, but it could use some more story details. I find that more details make a character more appealing because the final image of it becomes clearer, so you could add some descriptions of animations, quotes, and cards for future entries. I'm sure you'll get another chance, because you were also in the poll for the second contest if I remember correctly.

But I will keep your suggestions in mind. The thing is, I tend to focus solely on the story when it comes to making a Contest Entry, and I never recall the cards when making it or know what would be a good deck. However, the quotes and animations thing is noted.[;)] I also saw your saying that The Gentleman should have taken longer to give in. Yeah i can see that, but he was never particularly strong to begin with. If he was, he would not have sought Nulgath.

Fantastic. I really shouldn't be in the art section taking up a space, I'm guessing that it at least counts as original concept, but my execution is laughable...

Dude, if Nulgath picks you he can clearly see something in your work. I always look at the entries as a sort of proof of concept, which is why in my entry I say the Gentleman should look like a normal gentleman until you look REALLY closely for small things. Then Rev and Nulgath take the ideas be it badly done or well done, work their magic and make a masterpeice from it. I know I've said I don't like the angel chars, but if anyone can make want one it's those guys.[;)]

Looks like I`ll have to work harder next time! I`m thinking that if and when the next contest will be available, i`ll just cover all bases and submit a lot of entries. Apprentices, veterans, masters and legendaries... with stock decks and unique cards. That might boost my chances more i think. Regardless, I`ll never give up until I see one of my earth character ideas ingame. :D

I liked the entries that were picked. Voted for the golem art because golems are AWESOME (thinks of his Mr. Snuggles earth golem xoxo) and voted for Tower Knight`s Slime Guard submission. The origin and background of the character was very well depicted and constructed!

Regarding the other entries, to give some feedback, the art ones were all really nice! When it comes to art, imo, it comes down to preference. You could submit something done with ketchup on a big white canvas. If it`s something interesting that triggers an emotion in a person, then you are the winner. For me it doesn`t need to be flashed with pro skills. It`s the actual idea that`s important.

Regarding the story submissions, i voted for Tower Knight`s one because the rest weren`t descriptive enough. I wanted to know more about the origins of the char aka more exposition. I`m a big fan of lore, background story and such, but that doesn`t mean there weren`t quality entries.

I really hope that Nulgath...when he gets time, decides to make characters after as many of these submissions as possible, because it`s fascinating the amount of quality work and awesome ideas the OS player base can produce!

well anyway, still looks like a close fight to first place and with all my spirit I say I will not make it easy >:D . Jokes aside, I'm kinda glad the contest is bringing some much needed life back to the OS community. Hopefully the non-contest suggestion chances will keep up this trend of bringing out people's creative side.
