How about a gentleman on one of those bycicles with the giant front wheel x D

Megadragonknight -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 10:22:16)

Sounds like a gentleman performing in a circus. Oh anyway, when is OS birthday again?

BJEBLE -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 10:48:29)

@MDK Well it was like August 29th I think, but there probably won't be a release because the voting ends on September 9th, a Monday, so there will be a release on the 13th(Would this be the first Friday the 13th release for OS?)for the Contest characters and maybe something else?

Megadragonknight -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 11:09:18)

@BJEBLE
Hello, BJEBLE. Haven't seen you for a long time. Hmm, I see. That's quite sad since nulgath is still too busy with the Omni project that he can't focus on OS. For the Friday the 13th, yes, this will be OS first Friday the 13th! I heard Rev stated that it is a great time to release brutus, jono and todd who are from the abyssal themed characters for the GQ. I don't know why but I don't really think they should be release for Halloween since it would be more interesting if they are release during the GQ about abyssal since this is my main attraction for GQ.

Asuka -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 11:11:06)

I believe OverSoul's birthday is beta, not alpha so most likely Halloween.

Blackshock -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 11:14:27)

best to pray for a legendary pumpkinlord evo :D

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 11:44:20)

I would much rather have a... you know, none of the OS characters thus far really appeal enough to me to be a main, and I can't for the life of me think what would or why.

Ranloth -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 12:12:01)

I've voted blackshock when it comes to the art. I see it having much more potential in-game rather than - pardon my wording - a simple Angel. In terms of the writing, I've picked Tower Knight's story. Just found it better - nothing more than personal preference. ;-;

I haven't played OS in a while but I still remember some of it. :p In fact, you don't need to play at all as long as you enjoy art and writing. :p

Antithesis -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:02:35)

The art entries are decent, I just can't bring myself to vote for any of the written entries since they're all pretty meh. I still feel like multitudes of wonderful entries were robbed of a chance at getting in-game because of Nulgath's apparent "we don't want obvious winners to win" policy.

quote:

I chose entries that would make predictability of the winner more difficult.

:| Not fair at all, man. Regardless. Yeah. Voted for Blackshock, because he's always full of amazing ideas. Not voting for a written entry.

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:08:38)

@Antithesis
Think of it as a way for people with budding talents to get a chance to win although it was kinda a big surprise knowing the multitudes of more than decent entries that were submitted. I wanted to vouch for Balu if he was in the finals after I saw his entry.

For writing I voted for Megakyle's entry because I wanted to see how a gentleman is represented in Nulgath's style while for art I voted for Deathguard (I think).

Antithesis -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:13:16)

@Mondez

I'd be less disappointed if they didn't strip those that have honed talent of all opportunity to win. Had they done something like a "Bracket 1 is for pros and Bracket 2 is for beginners" then I'd be totally okay with it, but they announced it as a contest of skill...

Then they suddenly turn the tables on us and tell everyone that worked ridiculously hard on their entries that we can't win because we're too good and might win by a large margin...? :\

As you can imagine, this kinda makes me a bit angry. I understand that my ideas are not to everyone's tastes (if they WERE I would be in the lead[;)]) but I am always willing to learn and am curious as to why you think my entry, to quite yourself, pretty meh, or that I robbed the chance of a decent entry.[:(]

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:17:09)

@Anthithesis
He never said he picked entries made by untalented people, he said that the winner would not be as predictable from the entries chosen. You don't have to speak negatively of others just because you're unhappy with your position.

Antithesis -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:17:09)

@Megakyle

That isn't to say I DON'T like your entry, as you know I gave feedback on yours before the contest even started. It's just that some of the entries are so well done that they deserved to be in that top four.

Don't think of it as "good entries vs bad entries," think of it as... "extremely talented vs potential talent"

@The Jop

I'm not speaking negatively of others. I genuinely don't consider most of the entries on par with the ones that were ignored. Fine examples would be Asuka's and Redingard's.

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:17:14)

@Antithesis
From the last contest there was a bit of an uproar against Migo because he won a second time. Some people though it wasnt fair because he had *better* art. I personally think this was an interesting change for the finals because it gives others a chance although it is a shame for myself and others who also worked hard on their entries, but the finalists also worked hard on their entries so they at least deserve a spot.

Overall with this matter I say just try again and maybe you'll get picked next time. Don't over analyze it, the judges choose the finalists and we choose the winners.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:18:23)

@Anthithesis
It's not "potential" because they've already been chosen by Nulgath and voted for by hundreds of people. Can you please stop saying the finalists have no talent?

@Mondez
Migo didn't actually win a second time, did he? Darkon Drago was by DarkonDrago, Aqueous was by MigoDavid, Witchblade was by Shaister, and Fiend of Vergil was by Vergill.

Antithesis -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:20:34)

@The Jop

I edited my previous post with my response to yours, and I'm going to leave it at that.

@Mondez

I can see what you mean by that. Perhaps if previous winners were excluded, at least for a while, then it would be fair in my eyes.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:21:11)

In regard to your last post, saying players don't have talent is speaking negatively of them.

Antithesis -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:22:01)

I didn't say they don't have talent. I said they have potential talent, or to quote Mondez, budding talent.

There is a massive difference between honed talent and budding talent.

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:22:21)

@The Jop
Oh my bad. [;)]

Well you get what I'm pointing out on terms of this contest.

Enough you two, don't make an arguement out of a small issue. What's done is done.

Good luck, The Jop. I'm rooting for you as well.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:22:50)

It's not really needed to say how you think people don't deserve their positions because they're not as talented as others.

@Mondez
It's just that I had this same conversation with Redingard yesterday. How would you feel if more than one person said that your entries are so bad that they won't bother to vote for them and they don't deserve their place in the finals? It's just mean spirited, and seeing it twice is especially bad. (Thanks, and good luck in future contests)

Antithesis -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:25:17)

How is that not okay to say? It's true. If a new upcoming artist draws something in a contest against a honed artist for a scholarship to a top notch college, and the honed artist was disqualified because he would predictably win, then there is something wrong.

I'll quote the DNs again;

quote:

I chose entries that would make predictability of the winner more difficult.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:26:48)

It's okay to say whatever you want, it's just cruel and only your opinion so you don't have to force it on others. Obviously I disagree with you.

ND Mallet -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 130 - READ THE FIRST POST (9/4/2013 13:29:22)

To be fair, we probably asked for this. The forums were an uproar that someone could win twice so Nulgath instead took entries based off of ideas. No matter how talented you are, you can't get far with a bad idea. And great ideas don't come by every other day. If we judge off of idea then we'll see a lot more variety in these contests other than "Undead Darkness based evil looking people FTW!" winning these contests. I personally would like to welcome our new idea overlords because it's sure going to be a lot more interesting with these contests and more variety of winners. Darkon is a great artist, but his entries this time around weren't something I'd want to see in OS. Maybe in an anime or some RPG where they're an enemy, but not something you could control. Beck's dragon is great and would make a great addition to the game, which is why Rev chose it personally instead of placing it in the finals for it to curbstomp everyone. The last two contests were the same for art. You could already tell who was going to win, even if you wanted someone else to win. I like this one more because I can't be sure if we're getting that golem or an angel. You can boast about talent all you want, but when it comes down to it, ideas matter. Who wants to read about paint drying, no matter how well written it is?
