Chosen 0ne -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 18:28:04)

What if Elon musk shares everything everyone makes 20 times?

Therril Oreb -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 18:32:02)

Don't be brought down beaststyles. Everyone can try to carve a pumpkin. you can be as creative with the pumpkin as you want[;)]
I have seen throughout the AE games many creative ways to work with pumpking carvings ^^

beaststyles -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 18:34:50)

But first i need a pumpkin lol :S

Thanks a lot though for trying to make me feel better :D

Emperor_Blitz -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 18:47:23)

i would do this but i don't know where to get a pumpkin xD

Therril Oreb -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 18:55:28)

If it might be of some advice, if you read through the entire DN's:
quote:

  • You are welcome to think outside the box and submit other non-pumpkin creative entries for our consideration. Just remember that all entries should be fall themed with a focus on the Elon Musk event taking place in EpicDuel.

  • In other words, if you know a very creative way. Who knows? AE has been known to give people thinking out of the box a fitting reward[;)]

    Chosen 0ne -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 19:06:00)

    Maybe if you got a bunch of leavesand made them look like a pumpkin with a carving in it?

    danirasab -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 19:09:38)

    or maybe an apple and paint it orange and carve it?

    lionblades -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 19:42:45)

    Dang I wish we could draw the pumpkin on paper. I'm a decent drawer but carving is another story lol

    The Joker X -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 21:27:15)

    ^ I'm pretty sure that an attempt to draw it on paper will be taken into consideration. You should all try regardless. You guys have nothing to lose! :D

    DeathGuard -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 21:47:37)

    I think Lionblades should ask Devs first, and I doubt it may be accepted since it is a carving contest, not a drawing contest in its whole.

    Jekyll -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 22:35:47)

    I don't even go near pumpkins. It's less of a tradition where I'm from compared to the US, although it still is done by some.

    Gosh, I love my signature. Classy.

    danirasab -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 22:37:58)

    same here in the UK. maybe some people do it but i don't see many buying pumpkins from TESCO since haloween is a tradition in the US and now is inherited in the UK.

    OMG; my local supermarket doesn't sell one lol. I guess I'll think outside the box

    Jekyll -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 22:40:23)

    Yes, it's definitely not as popular in the UK. What can we do? Elon Musk and his companies are all American brands. If there was a horse meat competition I'm sure Tesco will be the place to go, though.

    Jekyll -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/29/2013 23:15:15)

    Where I live, sliced pumpkins are more common than whole, fresh pumpkins. It might be different from you; I heard living amongst pumpkins affects cognitive ability rather seriously.

    I think people like you take pumpkins for granted... Halloween is mostly an American celebration, therefore not all countries sell whole pumpkins solely for carving.

    Then again, who can go wrong with the occasional trick or treating? [&:]

    One week is not much time and ED has a small community. I will be surprised if devs even get 10 submissions that look decent and are not breaking the rules.

    Therril Oreb -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/30/2013 5:36:08)

    How about you guys try to be creative with a few slices of pumpkin then? You can carve with that too after all [:D]

    charwelly -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/30/2013 5:41:21)

    Well considering I'm in Australia and I hate pumpkins I don't think I'll be taking part.

    danirasab -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/30/2013 5:42:22)

    Same ere; cannot afford a camera.

    Or they could try to carve into watermelons or normal melons, I'm pretty sure that would work too.

    Teufel Hunden -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/30/2013 6:12:51)

    I have an out of the box thing that i think is cool :) cant wait to post when it is done :D

    Scyze -> RE: =ED= Design Notes 29th October - Creative Carving Contest (10/30/2013 7:17:00)

    Please do not cheat for this contest! it's very easy to find out especially if it's a picture.
    If you're interested in winning the contest, good luck! I might be participating IF I can find a pumpkin in some shop. I live in the UK now and hopefully I find one.

    So this means you can submit whatever you want BUT it needs to be so good, that dead people would stand up to see it.

    @Everyone: As Therril stated if you cannot find a pumpkin, try thinking outside the box - or try multiple supermarkets if you really want a pumpkin, I live in the UK and have three local supermarkets and a lot of local market stalls etc. all selling pumpkins and the tradition is very strong around this area (though of course, it depends where you live)

    I'd also just like to note that a lot of the Halloween traditions actually began within Europe, Ireland playing a particular part in that, and a lot of the first signs of vegetable carving is actually evident here - though the first records of Pumpkin Carving are in America, there is actually evidence to suggest that the tradition, as with many other Halloween traditions, actually sparked off within Europe and spread to America, just different names were used for them! So saying the tradition is not particularly strong in the UK, is far from the truth, since it is certainly dependent on the area, as stated, in my area, the tradition is still very strong. (Sourced from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween and a few other sites, plus a tiny bit of my personal experience)

    As stated before that little history bit, if you cannot get a pumpkin, put your creativity and effort into something else and it will be considered as long as it falls within the appropriate seasonal and Tesla/Elon Musk etc. themes!
