DaiTigris -> What got you into Role playing? (11/11/2013 12:30:41)

Ever since I was little I was always role playing in any games that game me a blank slate character. I'd didn't think about it too much back then but I always knew there was a couple of qualities that I'd make up to make that charterer unique. Over the years I got a little more complex in my character design and started trying to write full on stories. Unfortunately to no avail I had a bad habit of not finishing those stories. Mostly because by myself I often ran out of the creative inspiration and other times I just didn't have the time to work on it by myself. On the other end of the spectrum my brothers where always into Dungeons and Dragons. They often tried getting me to play but the complex game mechanics always threw me out the window. so I thought I'd never try anything like DND in my life. However after taking Theater Classes I found that I really liked working with others to creatively build up a story. I was particularly fond of having to do impromptu acting. It was pretty nice to create something on the spot and bonce off of the ideas others could bring into the situation with little to no warning. Eventually all those things I like about creating characters, acting, and working alongside others would be the things that got me interested into role playing.

That's what got me into Role playing, so how did you get interested in Role playing?

I've always really loved writing, and have been telling stories and making characters since I can remember. When I was twelve I joined an online writing forum, and they had a roleplaying board there. Being curious, I decided to check it out, and promptly got sucked into it. Since then, I've been RPing up a storm, and have hosted at least one RP on every forum that has an RP section that I've been on.

I first RPed here, on these forums. I was completely confused, didn't know what to do, etc. Luckily, I RPed a bit in the Raven Tower, and they helped me out. I started around 2009 (maybe).

I have since RPed on several other sites... but no one has a better community than BattleOn has. Even though it's inactive, I still feel like we're a close-knit community.

I used to draw all the time and it was my main obsession for a good while. I just loved to make characters that looked different and think about what they could do and stuff. Eventually, that enjoyment I got from characters like that got me into trying to actually come up with stories and evnetually personallities for the characters I thought up. It was a natural progression that led me into how much I enjoyed stories and, eventually, led me to the RPing section on this forum. The first site I've ever Role Played on.

I feel like what seperates RPs from just writing a normal story is the lack of control that comes with it. At times, it forces you to read into people's work and think outside of the box. You never know wether a character's going to end up joining you or being your enemy or not even effect what's going on with your character, only take a wild guess at how it'll all come together in the end. When an RP is working quickly and effectivly, there really isn't anything else like it. It's you making a whole new person and taking part of something unimaginably large with nearly complete freedom of who you're going to be and what they could do. My favorite moments have to be when my character ends up having a built-up conflict with someone else that manages to leave a lasting impact on either of them or when something happens that you never planned for that makes you re-adjust what your character would want to do.

This is the first and only RP forum I've ever joined. It will probably stay that way, unfortunately. Mainly because I cannot seem to find any other forums that have the same system, and the system here is what I like the most.

Anyways, I stumbled upon this place after a while of surfing the forums, and came across welcome to the clubs. I saw the thread, didn't get how it worked, and posted without permission in Welcome to the Clubs. Thankfully, Arthur was able to get me out of that before the AKs got to me, but I never was able to muster up the courage to join the RP again. Not really, at any rate.

But in other RPs, I was able to make my first few characters that got interested me in the whole ordeal, and eventually, I started getting better. I even made my own RP, but it barely started until it was shut down. Oh, those were the days. Wait, did I just say that? Wow. I'm getting old.

Why I'm interested? I like writing, but since I'm not altogether determined enough to keep going in my own stories, RPs are a nice solution. I also enjoy acting, although don't get the chance to do it. And I think that RPing is rather like Impro-Acting crossed with writing. So yeah, combine that with a community, and I feel right at home, which is likely why I've stuck around.

Aww, *sadface* it would've been awesome if you'd joined WttC at some point, Lengendium. I'm glad that you stuck around the forums and RPed!
