Part 1: A Glow in the Dark


Location: Falconreach -> Zyrain -> Quests -> A Glow in the Dark
Level/Quest/Items Required: None

Objective: Could this surge of magic be a sign of Warlic?
Objective Completed: No Blue Mage, but a White Mage instead!

Dialogue
Zyrain: Greetings, Hero.
<Character>: Hello there, Mage! I haven't seen you around before, so I presume you've made your way to Falconreach for protection from the Rose?
Zyrain: Ha, yes well, the shelter I've found here is rather comforting. However, that is not the reason why I've traveled so far to reach Falconreach.
Zyrain: I came to find you, <Character>.
<Character>: Oh? How can I help you?
Zyrain: I can sense strong magic in the outskirts of Falconreach. Light magic. I think there's a chance it could be--
<Character>: Warlic?!
Zyrain: Yes, the Great Mage, Warlic.
Zyrain: If it is him, then he is in danger as the Rose will eventually find him. Will you help me find him first?
<Character>: Of course! Let's go!

After traveling through the forest, defeating monsters, you find a Light Dragon.

Light Dragon: RAWR! You have no business here humans!
<Character>: Nothing will stand in our way from finding Warlic!
Light Dragon: Then I will have to end you now.

After defeating the Light Dragon.

???: Please stop!!
???: He was only protecting me.
<Character>: Warlic? Is that you?!

Scene focuses on Whitewind, a young, female Mage with long white hair, beaming white eyes, dressed in glorious, white Mage robes.

Light Dragon: My lady!
Whitewind: It is fine, my guardian. I can see in their eyes that they mean no harm.
Zyrain: Who are you?
Whitewind: Excuse my bad manners. My name is Whitewind. It is a pleasure to meet you.
<Character>: It would be a pleasure to meet you too if we didn't have to fight your Light Dragon beforehand.
<Character>: Sorry if we don't seem overly happy. We were expecting to meet an old friend of mine. One I haven't seen in years.
Whitewind: You speak of the Blue Mage?
<Character>: You know him?!
Whitewind: Well of course. I have been studying his writings for years. In fact, it is because of him that I am at this place right now.
Zyrain: And what exactly are you doing here? Has it got something to do with all the Light monsters suddenly roaming the forests outside of Falconreach?
Whitewind: I am looking for a peculiar item... something to help keep balance between the elemental realms of Light and Darkness.
Whitewind: As for the Light monsters, yes, that is me. You see, many years ago I was blessed by the Avatar of Light, Celeritas. Because of this, Light monsters follow and protect me.
Whitewind: However I can't protect them without this artifact.
<Character>: Did you find it here?
Whitewind: Unfortunately, no, I did not.
<Character>: Well follow me, I know the next place you can look!

Part 2: Expanding Light


Location: Falconreach -> Zyrain -> Quests -> Expanding Light
Level/Quest/Items Required: Completion of A Glow in the Dark

Objective: Travel to Braughlmurk to hunt for the mystical artifact.
Objective Completed: You have found the Chiaroscuro Crystal!

Whitewind: I must thank you both for aiding me on my quest. I am sorry that you did not find what you were hoping for though.
<Character>: You're welcome, and it is fine. He would want me to continue adventuring and helping others.
Zyrain: So where are we headed, <Character>?
<Character>: To Braughlmurk.
Whitewind: Ah yes, I have heard of this place. An ancient ruin once owned by Paladins, until Necromancers took it by force.
Whitewind: It is said that since the many years that have passed since the war, ghosts have remained on our plane in the form of Light and Darkness elementals.

Ennwen enters the scene.

<Character>: Hi Ennwen!
Ennwen: Long time no see, <Character>. What brings you back to Braughlmurk?
<Character>: We're looking for a mystical artifact.
Whitewind: It amplifies the mana of Light and Darkness beings to create a balance between the elemental realms.
Ennwen: What you speak of is the Chiaroscuro Crystal.
Zyrain: Is it here?
Ennwen: Apparently so. Though it is a very dangerous item and has been lost ever since the Necromancers tried to take it all those years ago.
Ennwen: It won't be easy to find, and that's presuming it is still somewhere within Braughlmurk.
<Character>: We have to at least try!
Whitewind: I can attempt to locate it's area by using Celeritas' gift.

After traveling through the ruins, defeating monsters, you find the Spirits protecting the crystal.

ShadowSpirit: Mortals...
SunSpirit: You have come for the crystal?
ShadowSpirit: None shall take it!
SunSpirit: It is ours!

Scene returns to outside the ruins.

<Character>: We found it!
Whitewind: I can already feel the Chiaroscuro Crystal amplifying my mana and Light magic.
Whitewind: I am overcome with a feeling of serenity, peace and balance.
Ennwen: Be careful. You are a Light being, and legend says that if you encounter a Darkness being with equal power to you, the crystal will merge you together in an attempt to create balance.
Zyrain: So we must keep Whitewind away from all Darkness monsters. Understood.
<Character>: I doubt she would want to hang around in Doomwood anyway...

Part 3: Darkness Incarnate


Location: Falconreach -> Zyrain -> Quests -> Darkness Incarnate
Level/Quest/Items Required: Completion of Expanding Light

Objective: The Rose have traced the mana amplifying ability of the Chiaroscuro Crystal and have sent a full force to retrieve it!
Objective Completed: The power of magic lead to Whitewind's death. Are you really on the right side?

Zyrain: <Character>, hurry! It's the Rose! They've come for Whitewind -- they've come for the Chiaroscuro Crystal!
<Character>: Where is Whitewind?
Zyrain: Hidden safe. For now.
<Character>: Come on, let's go! We have to protect her.

Scene changes to the outskirts of Falconreach where the Rose army is preparing to attack.

Rose Soldier (1): <Character>! Where is the girl?
<Character>: Far away from you!
Rose Soldier (2): Resistance is futile. Do not get in our way.
Zyrain: You have caused enough damage already. Whitewind is trying to heal the elements.
Rose Soldier (1): Fools. Magic will be the end of you all.

After defeating the Rose Soldiers. A Darkness Dragon enters.

Rose Soldier (3): Wh-what is that?!
<Character>: It's a dragon!!
Darkness Dragon: The crystal shall be mine, you puny humans!

After defeating the Darkness Dragon. It regains its energy.

Darkness Dragon: Hahahahaha! You think you could finish me that easily?
Zyrain: Agh! The dragon is too strong.
<Character>: We need to hit it with its weakness; Light!

Whitewind enters, glowing in Light magic.

Whitewind: Allow me.
<Character>: You're not safe here!
Whitewind: I must help you! After everything you have done for me.
Zyrain: Whitewind, no! The crystal!!

As Whitewind casts a spell at the Darkness Dragon, the Chiaroscuro Crystal causes Whitewind to unite with the Darkness Dragon into an ultimate being of Light and Darkness.

<Character>: Whitewind..?
Whitewind: The White Mage is no more. I am Light. I am Darkness. I am your end.

After defeating Whitewind as a Light and Darkness dragon, her human figure remains, but as a spirit.

<Character>: Whitewind... I-- I'm so sorry.

Celeritas enters with a flash of light.

Celeritas: You have fulfilled your destiny, my child.
Whitewind: Celeritas, you came!
Celeritas: Of course I did. I blessed you as one of my own. Through your efforts you have freed all creatures of Light and given them the strength to fight the darkness.
Whitewind: Uh, I did that?
Celeritas: Yes. Your strength and courage to fight the unbeatable is a beacon for others to follow your footsteps and rise against their enemies.
Whitewind: <Character> and Zyrain, my friends. Thank you. You gave me serenity, peace and balance.
Celeritas: Come, my child, and take your place beside me in the realm of Light.

Celeritas and Whitewind leave with a flash of light. Jaania enters.

Rose Soldier (3): Commander!
Jaania: Hmph. Look what you've done, <Character>.
Jaania: You've caused chaos between Light and Darkness magic to the point an Avatar intervened.
Jaania: Magic is too powerful. It will always end in pain and death.

Jaania picks up the Chiaroscuro Crystal and shatters it in her hand.

Jaania: You have only furthered my cause to put an end to all magic once and for all.
