I am simply highlighting the fact that there are 2 types of shields - stat based and non-stat based. Stat based ones offer bonuses, while non-stat based ones offer greater values.

The detractor was suggesting that classes with a non-stat based shield (lasting 4 turns) were at an advantage, but failed to consider the other advantages of stat based shields.

I hope that was clear enough.

Oh, and many BHs out there have level 7-8 Reflex, just take a look for yourself. Why is it such? Because it comes in handy when they meet another BH who smokes them.

Scyze -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 11:11:29)

Every time I record, I start to get lucky. It's not going to help.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 11:45:49)

^

Then keep recording :P You'll either get the video you wanted, or win all your battles. Win-win situation, no?

Dual Thrusters -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 11:54:36)

Lol, half the Bounty Hunters in 2v2 don't even use reflex boost.

Scyze -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 11:55:19)

I can't be bothered to keep facing the same build over and over again. Yes it's a win-win situation - if I'm bothered.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 12:06:40)

Just beat a level 40 STR BH (5 levels above me!) without luck XD (damage ranges notwithstanding)

ValkyrieKnight -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 17:49:15)

^ Then that BH must have been using a build that isn't OP. Otherwise, no, you had luck.

So the argument I'm hearing is that us 36s now know what it feels like to be under leveled, that is non sense. I think to myself all the time how unfair it is to fight players who have no chance to beat me and have countless times lost on purpose because I don't get any benefit from thumping them. 36s live with this in 2v2 aswell, you and a 30 vs 2 36s, its a lose lose situation unless one of the 36s has a terrible build. I strongly consider the devs look into that countless stats while being the same level soon. My patients is wearing very very thin. I hate fighting players lower leveled than me and hate when they're higher as well. Not everyone can pull varium out of air to class change whenever they want to if and or we should not be expected to change because the developers goof and gimp a class so I have multiple characters to avoid such a expense.

Scyze -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 18:48:04)

@ValkyrieKnight,
Right now, it's a tough time if you don't have debuffs. It's not nonsense that we are feeling like a Level 32 against a Level 36. It's completely true, we feel the same as Level 32 players right now - the stat point difference is the same, isn't it? Unless you think that being Level 40 gives you 30+ stat points, your point is wrong. 4 levels difference means you have a +16 stat points and +4 Skill points at any level.

If you already have a Level 32 account, face a Level 36 player who is using a Strength BH build. Tell me how it feels, it should be the same. The reason why it's nonsense in your mind is probably because HP is probably higher than normal and offense is high. Let me tell you, the experience is the same if you're against someone who is higher in level than you regardless where your level is.

Balance is bad right now, it's like the beginning of Omega; balance could be worse than the beginning of Omega. If you cannot withstand the BHs, I suggest you be like me and just wait until next week and hope that next week addresses the sudden shift in balance. To make the process easier and better for the Developers, let's all suggest things to be done to each Class. If we all help, we all can make balance better, not just for us, but for everyone!

GearzHeadz -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 19:25:20)

I have been thinking the same thing Scyze. The main problem I see with my class, BH is that 5/7 of the skills deal damage based off of str. This will lead to many str builds. Also the multi/stun skills scale with dex just like the mages stun/multi skills, only weaker. BH needs to get those skills fixed, and possibly a new skill dealing damage based off of something other then str.

martinsen5 -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 21:57:47)

Got miserably beaten to death by the same player right before, was a nice feeling when I blocked his finisher and gave him the hawk :D

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 22:44:16)

@ValkyrieKnight

Well, I've never had an issue with these 'OP STR BHs' everyone's going on about (though they're tough, I admit), and no, I didn't have luck.

@Jekyll

The point isn't that they lasted longer. The point is that they protect the user overwhelmingly more. For stat-based shields, you usually only mitigate the debuff; for non-stat based shields, not only do you mitigate it, you gain a significant amount of def/res. The one-turn DEX boost BHs and BMs get after the debuff fades is hardly useful, save for the occasional block (assuming the opponent is silly enough to strike), and while a one-turn Tech buff would be more useful for TMs, it is insignificant compared to other skills like Battery Backup. The point is, stat-based shields are definitely not a factor for classes being overused or OP, as you initially suggested.

Jekyll -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 22:58:40)

I've never suggested that OP classes were being used because of their shields. Gearzheadz said that classes like CH/TLM were not UP because they had powerful shields, and I my examples were meant to debunk that argument.

Another thing for me to illustrate:

Let's say a BH smokes a TLM - the TLM uses the shield, but his dexterity is still very low, further reducing his connect chance.
If a BH smokes another BH - the BH uses reflex boost, increasing his dexterity to around its original level, preventing any hindrances to connect.

The impact of stat-based shields aren't just in the turn when the debuff fades away. The impact is far greater.

ValkyrieKnight -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 23:19:15)

@ Scyze

That is what I was saying, even though I play mainly on my 36, I still feel the injustice of me being a former max level character fighting against players who stood no chance against me due to level. Some of these players would have beaten me if they just had a level 36 character. When I grow bored of my BM, I jump on my Merc,Tech,BH whom are level 32, 32, and 33 and as soon as I do I'm fighting the same 36s that I was fighting on my 36. The system is downright irritating to have to say "Hey, I just fought you on my BM" of course I say it jokingly when in reality I'm thinking "Are you serious?" I've always felt that 5 levels is way too big, even 3 levels puts you at a significant disadvantage. I don't "Now" feel like I'm the weakling, I've always known how it felt.

Pemberton -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 23:23:38)

The problem isn't much the level gap, but the fact that the level 40s are using OP builds and class and add to that the stat advantage.
The stat advantage is normal but when you pair that with imbalance, it is almost impossible to beat them.

GearzHeadz -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 23:27:10)

Its not so much as the class being OP, just the way str and support are interacting right now. A high level tech is just as deadly as a high level bounty.

Pemberton -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/26/2013 23:54:02)

^I agree. I think a good idea would be to add another stat to balance the game and counter strength.
This huge numbers is also confusing and why would you increase level cap to 40 when the game just went through some big experimental gameplay changes?
Idk, it's just weird. Personally, I would have fixed balance first, give the players more time to adjust to the changes before raising the cap and adding legendaries. Just my 2 cents.

Gen Stryker -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 0:14:38)

[&o] Sad [:o]

Jekyll -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 3:06:10)

There are only a handful of level 40 players out there, and they are either TM or BH. Haven't seen any other class yet.

Pemberton -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 3:29:32)

Is the change to bigger numbers supposed to help balance the game? lol

ED Divine Darkness -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 6:26:16)

str isnt that OP. when i was BH i made a perfect str counter build.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 9:16:28)

While everyone is complaining about STR BH, I'll just like to inquire - how effective are STR TMs, BMs, Mercs, TLMs, and CHs? No theoretical answers, please - I wish to hear from real experience. I do know a pretty cool STR TM build with high dex and tech that used max overload. Was in 2v2, though, so I couldn't gauge the true power of the build.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 11:09:42)

When facing someone up to two levels above me as long as I go first my STR TM build wins 70%-75% and I'm no expect with builds but I like those numbers. Now if I could get some more levels and add some support to my build increasing my chances of going first my overall win rate would improve which is the STR Support synergy that I believe them to be talking about

DanniiBoiixD -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 11:31:44)

Str TLM's do work.

GearzHeadz -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 11:34:13)

Str cybers are doing pretty well, especially if they have poison, malf, and a good static.

ValkyrieKnight -> RE: =ED= December 24th, 2013 - Legendary Patch Notes - 1.5.42 (12/27/2013 13:33:06)

Its pretty apparent that strength and slapping your opponent with strike is the main cheese right now. Strategy need not apply.
