Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 12:53:53)

@The Death Angel: They didn't implement a flee option since the get-go because they had more important things to do like actually creating/launching the game for the first time ever. Sure it's not intended to refresh farm, but the truth of the matter is people will do it anyways. It is a feature that is part of every browser to refresh and coincidentally, OS is a game played in your web browser. Also, a flee button has been established to be part of the game sooner or later. You may not like it, but a lot of people need it so its going to be implemented. Otherwise, people will continue to refresh farm as it is something that can't be helped.

The Death Angel -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:06:18)

You actually think Refreshing is a feature? It's a nasty side effect of having their games run on webbrowsers and something you can't prevent. How is it a needed feature for you to continue playing? Do you not like actually playing the game, or do you just want to log on and capture your character ? You've got a year to catch the character at that. It's meant to be a low catch/sight character for reasons that might not be unknown to you.

Can you quote the devs/mods on an upcoming Flee button or do I need to take your word for it?

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:23:04)

@Death Angel
It can only help people, but you want to prevent it because you have some strange need to spend hours on a repetitive task. I guess that comes from working for Nulgath for too long. It's not like you're losing anything; you're still getting gold and experience while the people fleeing just get characters faster at the cost of gold and experience, which is what they really wanted.

The Death Angel -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:27:36)

I guess it was too much for me to imagine people actually playing the game I guess. Also ruins the incentive to use SG on characters hence less profit for AE if we have to look at it from a business side of things.

Asuka -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:29:16)

Okay, the flee button thing is back. Let me explain a tad here.

Nulgath himself said there would not be a flee button. (correct me if I'm wrong, this was early beta. Plans can change, I know.)
But to my own knowledge, it has said it's not going to be implanted for "Convenience"

I don't think there is any intention on adding a flee button.

Beck -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:29:26)

I personally don't like the idea of a Flee button, but if they were to implement one at a cost, I'd support it. For example, it 'd cost 10 Gold every time you use it, or something. This is to encourage playing this game the way it was meant to be played.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:29:56)

@Death Angel
Not really, do you have any idea how difficult it is to capture characters like Poison Drake and Time Gentleman without Soul Gems?

@Beck
I hate the idea of charging gold for a flee button because that's just several times easier for people with X-Boosts. And they do not need any more than they already have, which is potentially 690% gold and experience.

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:33:38)

@The Death Angel: Look, there is no need to get hostile. Also, I never thought that refreshing is a feature and I stated this clearly. I simply said refreshing is a possibility that will be taken advantage of due to the reliance of a web browser. A flee button is a needed feature to prevent refresh farming as it puts a strain on the servers. It is also a needed feature for those like The Jop who do not have the advantages of carrying SGs. These free players will be pressed for time as the deadline for catching incredibly hard characters to find and catch nears. Luckily though, we have a year but other characters may not be like that and people have the real world to attend to. That is 2 reasons why it is needed feature.

As for the quote, you can ask Axel as I hear he is good at finding these things. Or you can ask some forumites that have been here long enough to know, I'm sure they can back me up on that quote.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:36:49)

Ah, found the quote:
quote:

A "Flee" button will be implemented later but only for PvE and only before the fight begins, not after. There will not be one for PvP. -Nulgath

daichi -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:43:42)

Well, I never said I was against a flee button.

I was was simply stating that refresh farming could be seen as being a bit questionable in some lights.

since it does circumvent the games intent if looked at from a specific view point.[:D]

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:49:50)

@The Jop: Yes, that was the quote I was looking for!

Asuka -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:51:08)

Again, with the SG thing. Let's look at basic knowledge and facts here.

-SGs (Paying customers) will always have some kind of advantage over things than regular players due to well, supporting the game. There's no other reason than that.

Now let's look at Character total count which is roughly about 240+
About 70-ish of them are SG, as well as being in the wild for a free chance t get. (Some seasonals such as love weaver, cupidtheus, etc etc)

Now lets take a look at f2p, which include some of the strongest characters in the game

-Example: Volt Engineer
Very great character, a nice, well put deck and a strong character overall. Offers not only great attacks, but some protection as well.

Another? Recent Xmas Elf.
I seen enough complaints about it to know[8D]

If characters aren't your thing, let's take a look at Card decks then.

Yes, there is an sg option to get cards. Is it "amg bbqsauce op"? No, not really. Does it yeild better card cards? Well just a tad because if you kept spending 4 SGs on it and kept getting 101 damage cards, you'd be pretty disappointed :P

But the fact of the matter is that only things that benefit a player's experience are the soul gem capture rate and characters to look so kawaii. Like every option option in Free to play games, there's always gonna be options to support the game with some sort of payment, either big or small. (Xboosts also fit in here as well)

And really, you have a year to get the Time Gentleman...And Poison drake isn't going rare anytime soon.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:53:29)

@Asuka
Sure, but there's no reason to charge gold to flee. SG buyers will still have huge advantages in terms of leveling and card customization. It seems like just making players' lives more difficult. Why do you have to pay someone to flee? Are you paying the enemy? Why is it called fleeing if you pay someone to stop attacking you?

Asuka -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:55:07)

Beck said something very little as 10 gold..
10 gold ain't hard to get, free or sg wise. o-o

As the famous Crypt Rogue once said
"Your gold or your life? Your choice."

Beck -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:55:32)

@The Jop
I only suggested it since I believe fleeing battles all the time isn't how they meant for the game to be played. And I proposed 10 Gold because you could earn that easily, in a single battle.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:57:19)

@Asuka
You're thinking from the viewpoint of someone with a lot of boosts. Imagine having to skip about, say 500 battles to find the character you want and possess. Without SGs to guarantee possession, you will have to pay for a lot of flees to encounter and possess a rare character. In that case, 10 gold really adds up, and you're not getting any from the battles since you keep fleeing.

@Beck
Can't it just be something like a percentage change to flee, and if you fail you lose a turn? I would prefer being able to do it with no penalty, but clearly people are against convenience.

The Death Angel -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:57:47)

If Nulgath has said so, then so be it. I am fully against a Flee button, it trivialises most of the game, the sense of accomplishment and incentive for people to use SG on captures which further results in a lack of income for the games sake.

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:57:58)

10 gold? They might as well make it free. Incorporating logic into the equation, it would be much better to have an SP feature like they did in AQ (I think it was called SP).

edit: Guys, let's not blow this thing out of proportion.

Beck -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:58:58)

@The Jop
The point of a minor Gold cost would be to discourage you from fleeing 500 battles to find that one character. But if you didn't have the time, you could choose to do that, and basically spend 5000 Gold buying a chance at finding that character faster.

I don't see charging to flee as an inconvenience or illogical; it rewards the people who spend the time to actually do the battles.

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 13:59:56)

@Beck
A chance to fail and lose a turn seems like enough incentive, without costing anyone.

Asuka -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 14:00:19)

Because I don't think Oversoul was meant to be "amg flee Xinfinitytimes"

The battles you do for these rare characters. of course you're not going to get them first try or find them first hand. They're elusive. Sneaky sneaky. The gold you get from training/battling all those other monsters can easily pay for card deck boosts as well as any old "pay gold to flee" option.

It wasn't intended as "REFRESH UNTIL I GET IT".

Lord Athor -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 14:01:17)

Well call it Bribing then, you pay the enemy off so that he or she will let you off the hook and not beat you senseless [;)]

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 14:01:53)

But why gold instead of skill? Anything else? How about a little minigame where you have to tap a random button quickly to escape? That should be enjoyable. Something that doesn't take away from the players. Using flees to possess a rare character is going to take upwards of 200 battles anyway if you can't use an SG to guarantee possession. It's not going to be instant gratification by any means.

Beck -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 14:02:15)

Asuka pointed this out:

"Your money or your life" -Crypt Rogue

xD

@the Jop
I suggested Gold because it's quick and simple; good for those who simply want to continuously flee/re-encounter, and take a minor hit in the Gold stash. And I think you'd get tired of a tapping minigame very quickly, but that is a valid alternative suggestion, yes.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 138 - READ THE FIRST POST (1/6/2014 14:03:21)

I'd be up for a gold fee to run. I THINK it was stated a while ago that a run button was an idea in the works, but you could only use it on the first turn. I may be wrong however.
