.PinkMoose. -> 2v2 (2/16/2014 18:14:47)

I have recently returned from retirement and I have been playing 2v2 lately again to help my faction

in my 2v2 battles (I'm lvl 34) I may get a partner that is lvl 35 and we are vsing some lvl 37's I don't know if this is a glitch or whatever but I think it's obvious that there can be balance in the game :|

DarkDevil -> RE: 2v2 (2/16/2014 18:21:14)

simply , any fight can happen as long as the lvl difference is in the 6 lvls range.

i see the point here that 6 lvls difference is annoying , i also agree it should be reduced , but preventing any lvl difference is impossible as it will make it very hard to start a game.

Xendran -> RE: 2v2 (2/16/2014 18:30:33)

I just recently had a battle that was a 36 and a 38 vs two level 40 tech mages (me and some other guy).

DanniiBoiixD -> RE: 2v2 (2/16/2014 21:34:21)

I had a lvl 38 partner vs 2 lvl 40s (BH & TM) with a couple of ranks. My partner was a merc and I am a BH. Of course we won, because I am the greatest(sarcasm), but that is still an unfair match up that only happened because of the Exile vs. Legion battle system. Would've been a lot more fair if I had have gotten the lowest ranked lvl 40 on my team.

.PinkMoose. -> RE: 2v2 (2/17/2014 0:10:30)

I am not saying this happens ALL the time but it's annoying its around 1/10 but I have also been on the other side of things and its way too easy to win

Mother1 -> RE: 2v2 (2/17/2014 0:56:11)

Well until we get more of a player base these kinds of matches will happen since there isn't enough players to go around.

@ Xendran

for 40's they cut the player range recently. The match up system can still go as much as 6 levels for 2 vs 2 however the lowest level players you will get in that would be 36's instead of 34's. In 1 vs 1 38's are the lowest you will get.

.PinkMoose. -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 10:27:21)

ok so now I am battling more and all my partners keep on leaving me because we are facing lvl 38's when we are lvl 34-lvl35

Digital X -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 10:29:03)

When you battle the higher levels, how well are your partners coping? Do they seem to think well to deal better with the current situation or do what they think is right and hope?

Xendran -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 10:30:28)

They leave.
Like, constantly. I have level 37's leave when it's Me and them versus a 40 and a 39, and we would have won.

I'm not joking, lower level players will leave a match even if you can win it, JUST because of a level 40 being present. They usually don't even stay long enough to have checked the level 40's rank.

Digital X -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 10:38:05)

I suppose the main reason being, is intimidation. When I used to 2v2 I would get partners leaving and sometimes I did that, but I just hung in there, grinned and beared it (sp?)

Mother1 -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 13:02:45)

@ Xendran

Most players I see think level = fair fight when that couldn't be further than the truth. If they think they are going to lose they will run which is why we had so many topic talking about cutting the level range without worrying about wait times.

Other times I had partners who are not only lower leveled but put our side at a level disadvantage yet sometimes we still come out on top. Heck I have even seen the level advantage team run away from me and my partner because they at first thought they would win only for me and my partner to show them otherwise.

It is one of the reason why I say instead of running stay and fight. Because while you have a level disadvantage you can also have a build advantage which in those times makes up for level disadvantage.

Trollok!!! -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 13:06:23)

Running away is completely stupid, I'm just going to be blunt about it. If you lose, you still get rewards, and increased ones if you manage to bring down even one of the opposition. Running away doesn't solve anything except temporarily relieve you of a single mismatched fight...only to run into another. You can't escape it, so stay, learn, and earn from the battles, win or lose.

Xendran -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 13:55:14)

There's a reason i've always been an advocate of severe punishment for disconnecting mid battle in 2v2.

About the "accidental disconnect due to internet" argument: Hobbies have costs.
Do people change advanced ski hills because not everybody has skis that can handle the hill without being damaged?

You disconnecting has a negative impact on the game and the other players whether you did it on purpose or not. If you don't have the internet for it, play a different battle mode or an offline game.
Some games actually won't even let you play them if you have too much latency.

Ranloth -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:02:54)

Three "disconnects" a day and you get banned from the said mode for 24hrs. Truth be told, if you have connection problems, you shouldn't be playing, knowing you will get disconnected (your loss) and it may affect others.

I don't know how current system works, but I think it's 5 disconnects in a short period of time (hour or two?) and the mode ban isn't too long either. It's about time players learn to not troll, by leaving, and pay the price for it.

Xendran -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:07:34)

I hadn't even thought of that game but you know what, let's do it.

If you disconnect too much from 2v2, you can only play with others who are also flagged as disconnecters for a period of time.
This is essentially a temporary 2v2 ban, but you still have the chance to score a fight with other disconnecters.
2v2 is no longer required to carry you if your gear is trash, as you can NPC your wins without having to worry about your (now hidden) ratio.

Ranloth -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:10:33)

Tutorial also gives you Gun and Aux. If you sell these, or get hacked, just switch to NPCs and not make it worse for others. Only drawback is server-wide connection loss - which may be out of your control, but maybe this could be worked around.

Otherwise, go to 1v1 or NPCs, and don't ruin it for others. There's no reason to be underequipped, and own stupidity (hacked/scammed) shouldn't affect many others. In fact, if they made Tutorial weapon unsellable, we could - at last - have restriction of being fully equipped before joining PvP.

Mother1 -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:15:40)

@ Xendran

what happens if the game lags you out and it is no fault to your connection? This has happened before, and you even reported that there was severe lag when there was a few people online. What happens when those kinds of lag disconnects happen and it is no fault of the player? Should the player be punished because of something that the game itself caused? Do you find that fair? Cause I honestly don't.

Someone playing knowing they have bad internet and they get disconnected several times in two vs two is one thing and yes I can agree with that one. But punishing players because the game itself is causing the problem is another.

Then there are update disconnects as well. Meaning that you can be in the middle of a battle, and an update countdown starts. That is another problem because I remember getting disconnects due to this as well.

Scyze -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:19:52)

I do feel that rules should be strict in the 2v2 battle mode. Leaving in the middle of a battle should have severe consequences because you end up making a 2v1 situation - a loss in most cases for your partner. It's no longer like the previous phases where you had a higher chance to win in a 2v1 situation.

Ranloth -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:24:28)

If you lag out, that's your problem. Server-wide lag may be an issue, but the limits could be turned into variables - during peak times, it'd be 3 disconnects, and "off-peak" would be 5 disconnects. When would that be? Off-peak would be night time, when there's significantly less players online.

Honestly, I ain't gonna suffer due to someone's stupidity, or wanting to purely quit because there's low chance to win - at least trying could be nice.

Besides, connection loss and getting "kicked by the Admin" rarely happens. Latter was often a bug, and the former may also be a bug at times or just your connections. With stable servers, the former shouldn't happen - especially after recent maintenance.

2v2 has been broken for years, and people leaving has been one of the major problems. It's time to fix it now, and not treat it as a joke of a mode, due to people thinking they'll get more Credits from there, at someone else's expense.

Xendran -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:44:04)

They can easily monitor server latency, and if latency gets above a certain threshold it causes everybodys disconnect count from the last X amount of time to be removed.

Ranloth -> RE: 2v2 (2/19/2014 14:55:03)

^ And there's the solution for random server kicks. It can't probably be much simpler than this, and there aren't really other downsides to this suggestion. For 2v2, this is seriously required - even if imbalanced match, it's not like your chance to win is 0%, but without a partner, it pretty much is.

..Jasmine.. -> RE: 2v2 (2/21/2014 2:52:28)

Playing 2v2 as low lvl is a complete waste of time..

Archlord Raistlin -> RE: 2v2 (3/4/2014 0:28:34)

One note on 2v2 matchups...

When the game tries to "balance" my character it will provide me repeated level 36/37 partners
against 2 level 40s. When these battles start, my low level partner does not go first most or
even a majority of the time. It is inconceivable to me how epicduel can allow this. It's one thing
to place a lower level in what should be an all 40 battle, but then add insult to injury by not giving
them a chance to go first and use their skills? I guess it makes more sense to have a rank 12
bludgeon, overload or spider them first. To their credit, most of these lower levels do give it their
best shot and don't simply run away...

Even if I'm on the 40 (team) side, I can't imagine anyone having a problem with the one lower
level going first. It should not depend solely on team support, or whatever it is based on now.

Use some common sense dev's...

Mother1 -> RE: 2v2 (3/4/2014 0:38:03)

@Archlord

do these players even invest in support? due to the staff making support a joke unless they are focus 5 builds they don't invest in support anymore which increases chance of going first.

Also have you been in any of the all level 40 battles? Even though aren't good match ups because majority of the time when I see those it is 2 rank 1 players versing 2 20+ ranks which isn't balanced in the least either.

Archlord Raistlin -> RE: 2v2 (3/7/2014 19:00:50)

@mother1

I dont check ranks normally, so maybe the all 40 matches are rigged as well. There is a difference though between a lower rank 40 player not going first versus a level 36 or 37 player. Eventhough
this is normally a sure loss, at least the lower level will have a chance to do something without
immediately being on the defensive and getting steamrolled.

I can't say i check low level partners support either, but it happens so often that there can be no way they all have no support. Even if they did have the minimum, they should at least have a chance to make a few good moves during a battle. There's nothing worse than being that low level player in a match like that...totally discouraging as you're trying to level up.
