Part 3: Predator or Prey? Location: Swordhaven -> Maximilian Lionfang -> Quests -> Predator or Prey? Level/Quest/Items Required: Completion of Roar of the Undead Objective: Discover the reason why the people of Swordhaven no longer trust the city's Knights. Objective Completed: The culprit has been found! A traitor within the Swordhaven Guard. Scaled Yes/No: Yes Monsters (15) Bandit (1) Sir Rotiart - Boss NPCs Bandit Maximilian Lionfang Sir Rotiart Dialogue Maximilian Lionfang: Good day, <Character>. Maximilian Lionfang: I'm afraid I must call on your assistance once more, otherwise I fear that the Swordhaven Guard will crumble. Quest! <Character>: So what's been happening? Maximilian Lionfang: The people of Swordhaven are beginning to lose their trust in the city's guard. And I can't say I blame them. Maximilian Lionfang: Many have been reportedly attacked by bandits after supposedly being promised safety. <Character>: Safety? As in protection provided by the city's guard? <Character>: You don't think that this is someone from within the Swordhaven Guard, do you? Maximilian Lionfang: I'm afraid so. One of the families attacked were able to escape and notify me of one of the bandit's appearance. Maximilian Lionfang: Since then, I have been able to track him down. He often visits one of the taverns in the... less fortunate areas of Swordhaven. <Character>: Then we must head there straight away if we hope to put an end to this! Sir Maximilian joins your party. You and Maximilian travel to one of Swordhaven's taverns, The Boveox's Head. It is full of dodgy looking punters, most likely criminals. Bandit: What'sa Knight doin' 'ere. Maximilian Lionfang: I am here on official business, investigating the recent attacks on innocent families. Maximilian Lionfang: I suggest you release the information now, or prepare to face the consequences. <Character>: *whispers* I'd lower the tone if I were you. I don't know if you've noticed, but we're heavily outnumbered... Bandit: Trouble he says? C'mon boys, let's show this Knight here what trouble means. After defeating 7 bandits. Bandit: Alright, alright! I tell ya everythin' I know. Just don't hurt me any more! Maximilian Lionfang: Speak quickly. Bandit: One of you's, a Knight, I never caught his name, but he's been paying us to ambush the families of Swordhaven after he promises them security. <Character>: A Knight?! I don't want to believe it... Bandit: It's the truth I tell ya! Maximilian Lionfang: Any more information? Or has your usefulness run its course? Bandit: You'll find the Knight in his camp, just outside the city. Here's a map! <Character>: This is the exact location I found you and your brother all those months ago, when you were attacked by bandits. Bandit: That's everything, I swear! So will you let me go? I promise I'll be good, I can redeem myself! Maximilian Lionfang: Redemption is false hope and a lie. Once you are evil, you are always evil. Maximilian Lionfang: You will be spending the rest of your life rotting within a cell in the Swordhaven dungeons. Bandit: Nooo, no, you can't! Please! Two Knights enter and take the bandit away. <Character>: That was a little harsh don't you think? He could have changed his ways. Maximilian Lionfang: I'm sorry, <Character>. A leopard never changes its spots. He is evil, and can never be good. Maximilian Lionfang: Come, there is still much to do. You and Maximilian travel to the outskirts of Swordhaven, to the same place Maximilian's caravan was attacked. <Character>: It seems like so long ago when I found you here. <Character>: Looks like we have some familiar company too! After defeating 8 bandits. ???: Well well well, the young cub has it all figured out does he? Maximilian Lionfang: YOU?! Sir Rotiart enters the scene. Maximilian Lionfang: So you were the vile creature who ordered the attack on me and my brother all those months ago?! Sir Rotiart: Well who else? Please, child, don't tell me you had no clue? Maximilian Lionfang: I guess it makes sense... you've been challenging our leaders for so long now. But why? Why attack innocent people? Sir Rotiart: Because. I deserve greatness, and our wonderful leaders won't grant me with it. Sir Rotiart: And so, I had hoped to turn the people against the Swordhaven Guard so the order would crumble. Sir Rotiart: Leaving me to recreate the order in my own vision, having complete control over the city hahaha. <Character>: You're preying on the vulnerable! Sir Rotiart: Oh enough of this! We've wasted enough time. Let us duel so that I may defeat you and carry on with my business. Heal Battle! Sir Rotiart: It would appear that you surpass even my skill, Lionfang. Sir Rotiart: Though you can act one big happy family all you like, we both know that no-one can truly be good, not even the order! Two Knights enter and take Sir Rotiart away. Maximilian Lionfang: You're wrong! I stand as a beacon of pure good, and I will make sure the guard are nothing but good as well! Complete Quest
