Dread War Chests

The new War is barely a week old and the Dread Plains echo with the thunderous roar of artillery fire and explosives. It's still too soon to tell if the Exiles will hold the Control Array or if the industrious Legion can shatter the shield and push the Exiles out for good!

Ready for Battle?

Now that you're used to the new War mechanics, you could probably use a little boost. The only thing better than a little boost is a BIG boost so for a limited time we're offering alignment specific Varium packages for Legion and Exile forces!

Stock your inventory with enough Dread Bombs, Dread Shells, and War Commander cores to make yourself known on the battlefield.

Nothing makes a statement like a tank. Impress your friends and intimidate your foes with these exclusive, fully color-custom Legion and Exile tanks!

End of War Prizes

The Dread War Prizes are locked in and ready to be claimed by the victor!

In order to claim a free prize, all you have to do is participate in the war for the winning alignment. There's no reason not to participate unless you have a weird aversion to free stuff. This is just the beginning. War Prizes will change from region to region as the War rolls across Delta V.

Guys is searched for the Legion tank is item finder and found it tagged as seasonal rare pvp drop !!

So is it really a pvp drop ?

Mondez -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/19/2014 21:49:26)

Oooooh...ouch, that is not looking good for a war revamp based on faction point gaining. I wonder what was the plan for this because I really don't see a decent positive other than speed point gaining, but that in itself is a horrendous negative realistically.

*Edit* Just to add it seems to be intended as a shortcut, but it's more to add advantage over the opposing faction so balance wise that is not a good way to do midway for a war.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/19/2014 21:54:55)

please fix static charge and energy parasite before anything else...

The trick is to plant accounts on both sides so you win either way.

Lord Barrius -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 0:19:41)

Just deleted several posts which failed to follow the forum's rules regarding constructive criticism, and which chose to insult and attack the game's developers.

I want to be perfectly clear on this. I can absolutely understand being angry at a release of this nature. However, the appropriate response is not a shouting match, it's not a rage-fest, and it's not insults and slander. The appropriate response to a release you do not like is to explain, calmly and thoughtfully, to the devs what bothers you about the contents of the release. Don't just mindlessly scream "P2W", put some time, thought, and effort into your complaints and explain them in a well-reasoned manner.

Be smart about this. Getting yourselves warned and banned in your anger doesn't help, it just escalates the situation.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 0:37:28)

Ok I will try again.

I don't like this release because it is pushing the war towards pay to win even more. I thought we were suppose to be moving away from that concept when omega started. Now here we once again. With this promo it is really pushing toward the old frostland war, which was a buy your rank war, instead of the infernal war which was more fair towards free to play.

Two reasons why it's P2W. Firstly, the war bombs. Second several people are already angry and many have decided to leave the game. Second point may not be part of the P2W issue. But as much as "attempting to calm the situation" is a calmer approach for the ones still supporting the game, it doesn't do anything better to resolve the many that have deserted the game. I've also grown tired of the game as focus on balance has been less prioritized for 3 YEARS since Gamma. So no, I'm not satisfied.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 0:49:34)

Passives to Actives and agility removal were done rashly and broke balance for generations to come.

Anyways, perhaps making this war P2W would give Legion a chance because Exile is owning them so bad.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 0:56:15)

^ Reversed or resolved.

The fact they left almost everything the same after the change shows that a lot more can be done to resolve the main issues which are.

-Energy constraints
-Replacement from passives being the skill that is too vital, to now free costing skills with almost the same requirement as the passives.
-Energy driven battles
-A high imbalance due to differences in energy control among classes
-The reintroduction of heal looping due to no limitations on free costing skills (then a poorly executed band aid fix to this by adding the hatchling rush core which as a result have led to a high imbalance in power abusing builds)
-No limitations on free costing skills

All of these issues would be resolved or helped by a new costing system such as the Stamina Points suggestions: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=21537904

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 1:36:08)

Oh my.... It was Xendran that suggested passives to actives.
quote:

If the devs truly want to fix passives, there are only two options

1. All passives become actives
2. Skills are separated into your Skill Tree and Passive Tree. This tree would have to be designed properly, not something that i can see the ED devs being willing to do.
Doing it properly is more difficult than creating a brand new skill tree for every class.

I personally would have went with the 2nd option. But I would put a spin to it where I would add energy drain/gain skills that cost 0 energy to enhance the "energy flow". I do understand that would take massive amounts of coding and I don't' code so....

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 1:52:27)

Not really, no. Xendran didn't suggest them himself, but the idea was around since Gamma. Some things aren't possible early on, which are possible now - one of those things was x10, which wasn't possible until Omega due to engine limitations.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 1:55:55)

@ edwardvulture

I remember that post and it was when I was talking with Xendran sometime back. He wasn't suggesting it but we was talking about what could possibly go down.

I remember pointing out that they were going with the first one on the list (which they did) but was hoping they would go with the second idea which sadly didn't and won't happen.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 1:58:34)

The idea is not necessarily a bad one,

How can we possibly tell if they haven't fixed all the issues that have risen as a result.

Sure you could argue for the time taken to resolve these issues it may be easier to simply return the passives but I still think if they fix all these issues properly and in a good way then this change will be good.

Also they can then add all these 1 off passives in the form of weapon cores which may do smaller version of the old passives for example say a primary passive core that gave a 2-5% blood-lust effect(For primary damage), or an amour with a 2-5% reroute effect core.

And it won't add the issue at the start which was a high necessity to invest in the passive skills.

Also that issue has merely switched from passives to free costing skill so in actual fact the change has done nothing to the underling issue.

They really need to consider giving free costing skills some sort of cost, whether it be hp, rage, or a new cost such as Stamina Points.

I have been saying this for months now and I still don't seem to have much of a discussion on this area.

Perhaps one of you guys can point out to me why adding a cost to free costing skills is a bad idea or why they shouldn't do it because honestly I can't see why not.
(Looking at you trans and mother :) )

EDIT:

I do understand why they don't give them an energy cost, because most of these skills influence energy such as provide energy and it would make so seance to make it cost energy then give energy, however that doesn't mean their are no forms of costs to use , it is endless whether they use what they have as options (hp, rage for example) or if they add a new cost system such as stamina.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 2:15:51)

@ remorse

I read through your stamina idea a few times and putting personal feelings aside I saw two flaws.

The first one is even with replenishing stamina points if the match were to last long enough in certain situations it would be possible for you to not have enough stamina or energy to do anything. Meaning you would be forced to skip a turn depending on the situation.

Second one which I pointed out before it adds more restriction which we have so much off already.

But as for the part before your question as mentioned before, the passive to active change is a good example of drastic change poorly executed. The change before this one (adding costs to cores) didn't help out much either since these two put that huge strain on energy for the majority of classes other than TM.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 2:18:53)

Maybe for "EpicdueL Evolution" they can try the second option.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 2:22:32)

@ Edwardvulture

Well i do remember the staff mentioning that they were going to take players input more often and put it into the game. Who knows maybe they might put in Remorse's stamina idea. They might put in my suggestion for NPC's to help with match making and wait times. It is anyone's guess what they are going to do here.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 2:30:00)

Passive to actives were a player-suggested idea. I don't know if them taking more ideas like that would be for the overall good of the game.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 2:38:52)

@ Mother,

The first issue you have may be because of a lack of proper explanation in my thread.

But never can you have a time in which you must skip a turn,
Remember that only a select few skills (most of which are free costing skills), robot specials and cores are getting a stamina cost.

Which means if you run out of stamina their is always the multiple options that can be performed such as all the energy costing skills, providing you have energy, and all the free costing attacks such as striking, gun, aux and basic robot attacks.

In a seance Stamina actually gives you more options to do because currently now when you are drained of all your energy as a lot of classes their is not a lot you can do especially because the cores cost energy.

Stamina would mean that if you were drained of all you energy you can still use cores providing you have enough stamina so in certain ways their are more options.

Yes when you run out of stamina you will be lower on available options but this is no way near as bad as the option reduction from when you run out of energy/drained of all your energy and this is because of the gradual return of stamina per turn meaning these options will eventually open up again especially if you manage stamina well.

Which is not the case for a lot of classes who lack decent energy regains who are left to not much at all after running out of energy.

Also I would like to point out that yes this feature adds a sort of restriction but, it is a creative restriction.

It doesn't stop builds from working it merely forces them to manage their skills costs and actually require them to think of the cost of each attack they will do and how this may restrict them later on.

In a seance it actually adds variety and creativity as it may limit dominating builds from being so uncounterable and mindless and actually require them to make some sacrifices such as lowering the level and therefore cost of skills that require stamina simply so they become less restricted in stamina.

This may mean that they are forced to stop spamming skill points in once free skills, or suffer the restrictions, as a result builds that didn't spam free costing skills in the first place are now at a higher level and have a better chance of competing therefore increasing variety.

And also their are many ways restriction in certain areas are actually lowered, for instance restriction in cores are lowered because if they don't cost energy and rather stamina certain builds and classes will have a higher chance of using cores and therefore less restricted.

Yes, stamina adds restrictions however I believe it adds restriction only to where it is required and to provide an increase in variety and creativity and it should actually lower restrictions in other areas in which restrictions need lowering such as cores and energy constraints.

Their are also some areas in which new restriction will be very important for class balance.
For example tech mages now can actually energy loop effortlessly causing them to have a great advanatge in the current meta, stamina tackles this issue by applying a restriction to the frequency in which they can energy loop and therefore give other classes a chance to compete. However it doesn't stop the tech mages strategy from working at all as they can still use these skills just not loop them as easily and without making sacrifices in other areas.

I am interested to see what your feedback will be after reading this,

Thanks Remorse.

comicalbike -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 4:35:00)

well this has not changed what i want so i will wait for balance first

zion -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 5:07:54)

Don't understand the hate...

This is the right type of stuff to charge money for - improvement in the "war" and a cool tank to drive around in.

This set doesn't provide an OP core, bot or improve your chances in pvp at all.

A free player still has just as much power as a Varium user, albeit with a lower "war ranking" and with a less impressive ride.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 9:06:27)

@Zoin

the problem is that we were also promised that the game wouldn't be pay to win anymore either, and with this promo you couldn't be any further from it. Especially since many people are griping about balance, as well as the legion not having a fair shot of winning due to exile having a larger player base.

Mondez -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 9:34:58)

Whatever the ED team tried to execute with this promo did not execute it properly if it boosts the influence rate tremendously with these items. Like I stated it looks like it's to be an influence booster, but with the current playerbase as it is, the execution was very poorly done and no consideration was made.

Melissa4Bella -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/20/2014 16:01:31)

This thread has gone way offtrack. If you want to talk about balance, then you need to go to the Balance forum. If you want to make suggestions there is a forum for that, too.

This thread is to talk about the release and the shop that is available for a limited time. In other words, a LTS shop similar to what the other AE games have. Players have to option to buy gear or they can pass it.

Stop with the "rich people" comments, they will be deleted as some have already been. If your post was baiting/trolling/flaming and is now gone - now you know why. Consider this your notice.

Anymore inflammatory comments from this point forward WILL result in immediate and automatic warnings.

The ED community can rise to the occasion and use their words constructively in order to give proper constructive feedback. I've seen it. Do better.
