Lionhart Part 2

Now that the Legion and Exiles are allied against the Lionhart forces, Transcendence and Immanence are taking matters into their own hands. Challenge them to one-on-one battles to test your mettle against the best forces Lionhart has to offer.

Immanence and Transcendence armors will be available from the Lionhart Soldier in the Overlord Facility. Also, by defeating them you will have a chance to claim their weapons as rare drops!
Also, change your look with 12 new Lionhart styles. These features and more will be coming to Delta V early next week, along with some exciting new improvements to War 2.0! (No release today) Read on for more previews of the continuation of the Lionhart Event and War 2.0!

Database Overhaul

Titan and Rabblefroth have taken this week to perform some major housekeeping on the database structure--primarily the structure of the skill tables. This sounds very technical, but it basically means that there were many fields that were no longer relevant or extremely unclear in their function. This restructuring means extensive testing will be needed to ensure that the battle engine isn't borked. Basically, if we did everything right, it means you won't notice any changes, BUT the changes will make adjusting balance and balance testing MUCH easier in the future.

Overlord War

Although Delta V is allied against the incursion of Lionhart, Legion and Exile forces still face tensions over who controls the Overlord Facility. This will make the Overlord Facility the next region in the cyclical War.

This new war will be fought for control of the AI Core, which controls all military assets in the region.

The attackers will collect Fuel Cells to power rogue Hovercraft to perform strafing runs against the AI Core. If they do enough damage, they can neutralize the Core and rebuild it for their own purposes.

To preserve the Core, the defenders will collect Sabotage Kits to disable the attacking Hovercraft.

To address some complaints with the current war rewards system, we have decided to implement a new tiered prize system that I shall endeavor to explain below...

New Prize Tiers

With the introduction of the Overlord War, we will introduce a new participation-based prize system. Players who fight harder will be eligible for better prizes. Currently, you only need 150 Influence on the winning alignment to qualify for a free prize. We feel it's unfair to award players who only play an hour the same as those who go the distance and participate throughout the war to support their alignment. In addition to adding tiers, we are also raising the minimum participation requirement to qualify for the baseline prize.

*Prize amounts in the above graphic are placeholders. Actual numbers are subject to change.

You will be able to see the tiers at the beginning of the war. At the end of the war, you will receive all the prizes available for whichever tier you qualify. The option to buy a prize outright will no longer be available. Because we want players on the losing alignment who battle fiercely to be rewarded, they can still qualify for the prize tiers, but cannot win the item prize (treasure chest).

Due to the complexity of this new prize system, we will need to update the war system manually in an update early next week (Monday or Tuesday). Participants of the Frysteland War will have until that update to claim their prizes. After the new system goes live, it will apply to the previously contested war regions, meaning when the Dread Plains is under contention once again, it will use the new tiered prize system.

We hope this new system adds real value to war participation and makes those who play harder feel rewarded. We also hope it addresses the "all-or-nothing" stakes of the current war system in which the losing alignment receives nothing (for free).

Thank you for your patience as we work to build, test, and implement these exciting new additions to the war system. Be sure to join us next week as the Lionhart Saga continues and war comes to the Overlord Facility!

Thank you! Now we at least get a small prize when we lose. No more battling for no reason. ^_^

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 14:40:13)

I have mixed feelings about this one.

While it was good that the added the tiered prizes and removed the buying of the prizes (which most weren't doing anyways) as well as adding more reason to participate in the war they basically made it almost pointless to win this war since now both sides get the same prizes for the same amount of work.

I could just do the max amount to get the best prize then just stop there and would get the same prize as someone on the other side win or lose as long as they put in the same amount of work. There is now no reason to even try to win the war IMO.

DeathGuard -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 14:53:54)

Mother, you ain't getting one of the prizes if you lose:

JariTheMighty -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 14:58:50)

^Now there's more incentive for everyone to participate in the war. Losers get some, winners get it all. It's definitely better than the old system where a player from the winner's side got all the rewards by playing 30 minutes, and players from the losing side could play for days and got nothing (except more rank to the achie).

There's still a reason to try to win the war.

lionblades -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 17:35:14)

Thank goodness for the prizes. I would be broke without them. Legendary ranks are so expensive and takes a huge chunk of my credits. Also, I am glad prizes are tiered since those with 150 influence should not get the same prizes as those with 3000+ influence.

This looks really sweet too [:D]

Last weeks missions were nice and fun (except the challenge player mission lol). Especially, I liked fighting the bosses. Hopefully, Immanence and Trans will be challenging enough for high levels. Bosses like Chairman were way to easy even without the aux.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 18:17:23)

The tiered participation prizes makes everything more fair, but, at the same time, like Mother1 said, it makes the war not really feel like a war anymore. Now it's just like a plain event such as the Chairman Platinum one, not really like a war.

Cyber Dream -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 19:56:05)

Yes! They've done it! @Imploding Penguin Remember I talked to you about this?

The winning side dosen't get the war chest

P.S Please do not make the tiered rewards the same for each side, as far as art....

kosmo -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 20:56:50)

Finally prizes based on effort, I dont get those who say the war will loose it s feeling, is it a true war if one side stands no chance?No, both sides must be motivated to put in some individual effort and getting rewarded for their work.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/20/2014 23:39:25)

5000 influence is like playing for a whole work week, unless you just buy the bombs/whatever they are in this war.
And what if this game eventually becomes "balanced", battles haven't really been fun since passives to actives. It's going to take a lot for me to get the baseline prize.

i have to disagree with you. I find battles now more exciting. I played 2 vs 2 for the mission and i can say that it took me awhile before getting 10 wins but those battles are worth the wait. Yes quitters in 2 vs 2 will always be around but thats just the way it is and it happens on both sides. We just have to put in our minds that every battle we click is not a "GUARANTEED WIN". we just have to figure out how to came out of a bad situation and whenever we does, it feels alot better.

My point is, everyone has a different perception of the word FUN in ED. to others, fun means winning every battles. for some, Fun is simply maximizing your full potential and eventually winning a match even if your opponents had better build, higher ranks, and better weapons.
Just take on GOONY's signature everytime he post on a forum.

It was mentioned in the DNs to avoid confusion so no, 5k influence isn't a set requirement-

dfo99 -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 1:59:22)

5k of influence to reward the same of before 150. this can be considered a nerf? basicly you will need play 3233,33% more to reward the same of before (if this value be implemented).

ScarletReaper -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 3:35:34)

Ok to all you who think there's no reason to win the war now, did you not see that the winning side still gets their own unique prize if they have enough influence? To edward vulture, yes now you actually have to play a bit to win the prize. In esscence cutting down on people making 7 or 8 accounts, earning 150 on each and then getting 7 or 8 prizes.

Noobatron x3000 -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 9:05:48)

^ Look at the server numbers next time the war comes back, no one agrees with you.

Predator9657 -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 10:06:24)

Awesome, now I have a reason to fight in the war.

Hope Imm and Tranc drop cheevo's when their beaten :D

Ok let me get this right, you say that there's no reason to win the war because the winning side still gets their own unique prize?

ScarletReaper -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 10:44:53)

No I am saying that because only the winning side gets the unique prize, there is still reason to try to win the war. Sorry if my wording confused you. ^_^

TheNameIsMe -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 13:18:26)

I like this update alot it means we can get lot more rewards and even if your side loses you get a nice reward for getting influence. Sence i always get 10k influence at least every war this is good for me. -_-

Frost Moglin -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 16:21:03)

I can't even find where to do the 1st part of the saga.[8|]

Digital X -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 16:26:09)

Isn't there normally a screen when you login to take you to it?

Frost Moglin -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 16:30:58)

When I hit it, I get teleported to the place with the Overlord Guard, but what do I do after that?

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 16:33:25)

Overlord Ops takes place at the Overlord Guard and Lion Alliance Part 1 takes place in the Arcade at Rev. That is really all part one had to offer

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/21/2014 16:45:13)

@ frost moglin

go to the overload guard for the junior deputy chain and Revontheus for the peacekeeper chain.

dfo99 -> RE: =ED= June 20th 2014 - Lionhart Part 2 (6/22/2014 4:06:09)

Frost Moglin

you are trolling, alright?
