Battle Elf -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/20/2014 13:03:06)

Hi everyone,

Here's a reminder of a couple basic points, just to make sure we're all on the same page. I'll be cleaning up several posts in this thread as necessary.

First of all, Varium vs. Non-Varium discussion is not allowed. We've seen time and time again that these topics lead to flaming, therefore it's no longer permitted in the ED GD. Regarding the Omega phase, the EpicDuel team have already explained the reasons for the Omega update and clearly stated that EpicDuel will NOT "go back" to an earlier phase. Additionally, please ensure that your criticism is equally constructive in nature.

A note directly from the ED GD Rules:
quote:

Artix Entertainment appreciates every player, no matter how much he or she has spent on the game. Demeaning players because they have not upgraded, or vice versa, will not be permitted in any form. Since such discussions tend to devolve into flaming, we will no longer permit users to create threads about any sort of financial status. That means no Varium vs Non-Varium threads, no Free Player vs Paying Player threads, no threads about the unfairness of Varium prices, and so on. Anything related to finances will not be allowed. If you are unsure if the topic would be acceptable or not, ask the head moderator for permission before creating it.

Please make sure you are familiar with all the ED GD Rules before posting.

Thanks,
Battle Elf

This promo wasn't as bad as the Lionhart promo. I'm making pretty good use of the robots' special. However, I won't be using the primaries' active core because it just isn't worth it. Players can whine that it's spammable, but it's also cured by Field Medic and it's blockable. Also it doesn't really benefit strength builds as much as people are trying to say it does. After all you have to use other attacks besides your basic strike to get the maximum damage (meaning unblockables - deflections, skills - energy, robot - weak damage (this applies to strength builds). Based on that the primaries' core favors focus builds more than strength builds, and in EpicDuel's current state that's a good thing. Overall I believe this promo was balanced pretty well, and I have no complaints for it. I also want to thank Trans, One Winged Angel, and all other members of the EpicDuel team for taking the time to make such an epic event. I'm looking forward to part three, and I'm very eager for the boss battles.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/20/2014 18:10:24)

Part 3 + with the new Hunter NPC (in the DNs) there will be an additional set of Missions with no Bosses to fight, so lower level players can complete them. That means fourteen new Missions to come next week. ^^

theholyfighter -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/21/2014 0:32:48)

REEALLY RIDICULOUS.

Fought a player with a merely 13 dex advantage, and I got blocked 7 times in that single fight.

No wonder some ppl call this RandomDuel.

kosmo -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/21/2014 2:55:13)

The wepon core is repetable and it s the strongest primary core.Still, it reasonably balanced and definetly not a must to play these days.But the bot is a completly different thing, all strenght builds (unless they do poison) are completly doomed by 9 turns of endless intimidate.5 focus really takes the advantage, atleast one good thing.
So in order to compete, all you need is to buy the bot ingame for 1900 var and stick with 5 focus.

kaiseryeux21 -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/21/2014 8:25:11)

Interesting story, great concept, nice background, and a bunch of free credits. What more can we ask for? This is by far my 2nd favorite event (the first infernal war being the top of my list). Balance update is also quite reasonable, new bot special is a great counter to STR builds, haven't seen yet the new weapon core so i cannot comment about it. Over-all, a pretty solid update. Kudos to all the GAs and Writers for making such a great event. So far so good. Hoping for more interesting missions next update.

Pemberton -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/22/2014 0:01:58)

The promo bot and weapon core have infinite uses???

RageSoul -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/22/2014 0:22:20)

^The robot special only can be used once per fight .

DeathGuard -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/22/2014 0:23:25)

@Pemberton: They don't.
The bot core can only be used once.

The primary weapon core works differently. While it is repeatable, it has to be in certain conditions.

e.g. You activated the core and in the 2nd turn of activation, your foe heals eliminating the core's effect. You can activate once again by using another 100 energy to deal the missing damage turn. After you inflict the +24% strike damage, you can't use the core again.

I was wrong about this, please refer to White Tiger's post below.

WhiteTiger -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/22/2014 1:06:21)

@DeathGuard: Deep Plague should be able to be used more than once a battle, even if you successfully inflicted the +24% damage. Are you experiencing something different?

DeathGuard -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/22/2014 8:56:54)

My bad, it seems I thought that I couldn't use it twice due to the lack of energy when I could use it again but it is working as it should be.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/22/2014 13:15:05)

Wow they actually made the first multi use core. I wonder if more cores in the future will become like this one.

Variation -> RE: =ED= September 19th, 2014 - Waves of Wrath Gear (9/22/2014 13:31:51)

^To be honest I don't think they had much of a choice with this one seeing it can be cured with Field Medic. Also it makes the promo more appealing since the ones who buy it(or get it in game) will be the first testers of a primary core that can be used multiple times. I'm quite disappointed that their description of the new cores were so vague in the design notes. It's like saying "hey you must buy it or ask someone about it to truly understand it," and even then when you see the robots' primary attack get blocked it's even more confusing. In the future I want the design notes to be more clear with their explanation on new promos. It really would help the player base know if they're getting the "bang for their buck." The promo is pretty good, it's just sad that the robots' basic attack is blockable when its basic attack is clearly a ranged attack.

Do the math and it's just being very unlucky. Blocks aren't as likely as you think they are.

----

The promo-code weapons from the tweet (Deep Terror Blades) have their own custom animation on the world map! Is it just me, or are these the first weapons to have this?

Merged thread with the design notes thread since the discussion is on the Deep Terror Blade E/P. ~WhiteTiger

dfo99 -> RE: Did you notice? (9/23/2014 23:37:22)

i have this sword, if you don't say i never will know about that.

Qwerty Again -> RE: Did you notice? (9/24/2014 0:34:55)

Really? I didn't catch that..and what do you mean "On the world map"? I thought weapons don't show up on maps...?

Variation -> RE: Did you notice? (9/24/2014 18:34:47)

^The animations of the Deep Terror Blades show even if you aren't in battle.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Did you notice? (9/25/2014 0:26:38)

Kartherax's Darkspawn + Azreal's Anguished is pretty much the equivalent to a guaranteed stun [8D]

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Did you notice? (9/25/2014 8:05:34)

except they get rage and still deal damage, even if it's minute.

InFlamed Fury -> RE: Did you notice? (9/27/2014 20:24:23)

Did anyone here notice the new animation for overload. It's a completely berserk crash of lightning now instead of it's old one bolt with sparks coming off it. Either way it was a nice feature.
