afterlifex -> =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (11/1/2024 15:18:30)

This thread continues as a centralized hub to ask for and give answers about Mastercraft items as they currently exist. Please do not ask what they may be like at some point in the future, or what items will be considered Mastercrafts at X time, or anything similar. To quote a section of the AQ Q&A FAQ:

quote:

0. Question about future content
Questions along the lines of "When will _____ happen?", "When is _____ coming out?", "What is going to happen next!?", "Is _____ going to ________?", or "Why isn't _____ in the game?" are not to be asked. Unless there is a formal announcement by members of the AQ staff regarding upcoming releases, the player-base has as much information about such content as you do. As a result, proposing such questions serves little to no purpose.

This thread does still need to abide by the AQ Q&A Forum Rules. Please use the information and links below to find the answers to any questions before asking them here.

Question: What is the definition of a mastercrafted item?
Answer: Chii, an AQ staff member, has described mastercrafting as:

quote:

What Mastercraft means:

Mastercrafted items have extra power, versatility, or abilities which are paid for by having a higher price than normal items, instead of having penalties which would otherwise balance out the item's power so that it remained roughly equal to other normal items. A normal weapon with a trigger could deal 110% damage to undead, 95% damage to normal monsters, but a Mastercrafted weapon would deal 110% damage to undead and 100% damage to normal monsters, in exchange for having a higher price. That is Mastercrafting, partner. Accept no substitutes.

quote:

Mastercrafting increases the cost of an item by 10% and yields one of the following:

1) Passive increase of one of the item's parameters (such as damage or BTH) by 5%
2) Enabling of the item to have a "free" trigger effect (generally increasing damage by 10%) without a downtrigger state
3) Reducing penalties associated with having expensive effects
4) Enabling the item to have a "free" skill without a compression penalty (but still having item compression pricing where applicable)
5) Combinations of the above or other similar effects

In other words, it gives the item abilities and whatnot in exchange for costing more, whereas normal items wind up being weaker if they have any of these.

Question: What is a "Yearly Mastercraft Set"?
Answer: A Yearly Mastercraft Set is simply a collection of related mastercraft items found at the end of a long quest. The release of a new quest and set is an important annual AQ tradition. Beyond timing & quest style they are no different than any other set.

Question: Where can this year's Yearly Mastercraft Set items be found?
Answer: This year's set "The Mecha Knight Set" can be found by visiting Travel Map > Travel East > Mt. Thrall > Hollow > What are you building? > Underworld Saga
(Temporary links: Armor, Weapons(s), Shield, Pet, Spell, Misc , Extras: Weapon(s), Shield, Misc(s)/ Guest, Pet )

Question: Will the past "Yearly Mastercraft Set" items be updated to have high lvl tiers like the newer Sets?
Answer: Yes, all such sets will eventually be updated to match their newer counterparts; however, there is no specific time frame for these updates. Please do not ask for estimates.

Question: Are there other sets/mastercrafted items & where can I find them?
Answer: Yes. In addition to the Yearly Mastercraft Set, a variety of standalone mastercrafted rewards are released. Occasionally, sets of equipment will be released (with or without a mastercraft bonus) outside of the yearly mastercraft set. Information on these items can be found in the AQ Encyclopedia; if assistance is needed, please ask all mastercrafted related questions in this topic.

Question: What is a Full Set Bonus (FSB)?
Answer: A FSB is an additional effect or skill unlocked when wearing all parts of a mastercrafted or lesser mastercrafted set. For information about these bonuses, please visit the AQ Encyclopedia page of the set in question.

Question: Will I still get a FSB if I mix and match pieces of equipment from different level versions of a set?
Answer: Yes. However, the FSB will only be as strong as the lowest level piece of equipment in your set. For example, if you have a L105 version of the weapon and armor, but only a L85 version of the shield, you'll only get the L85 version of the FSB.

Veleqwii_Fox -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (6/8/2015 11:24:10)

I was just wondering, what is the MC bonus of the Poelala/Thernda/Dunamis pets/guests, if there's any?
Nevermind. I found it in the Info Subs. Sorry for the trouble.

SonicTbear -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/5/2015 20:07:57)

Does the Celtic Wheel INT boost work for anyone? I have the level 120 version and I'm not getting any extra INT when it's active...

Carandor -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/5/2015 20:26:57)

Are you talking about the INT boost or INT boost raising your max MP? because at your level the expected INT is 200 (which you have) so raising your INT won't increase your max MP any further.

UKTone -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/5/2015 20:34:34)

Yeah but you have to click it to get the int boost. You get mp boost if you have 0-195 int.

zero_2244 -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/6/2015 9:20:14)

I've been out of the game for a while and I know this guide says to just sift through the encyclopedia but they don't list what the yearly mastercraft sets are in there very clearly, is there just a plain list somewhere that says something like, golden set, nightmare set, ect... I'm having real trouble collecting info through the encylopedia about this stuff, I don't care about regular mastercraft items I'm only interested in the full sets.

Carandor -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/6/2015 10:11:25)

The only difference between mastercraft items and mastercraft sets is the full set bonus, which I have never actually seen or heard of anyone using. Most weapons in MC sets are 20% proc which isn't the most popular of proc rates to say the least.

With the exception of the Kindred, Overlord (formerly known as reign), Twilight (formerly shadow) and Communicant (formerly golden) sets, all yearly MC sets can be found in Warlics shop, so you can use that to find the name of the set, which will make finding the pedia entries easier.

zero_2244 -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/6/2015 10:49:46)

Ah, much appreciated. I saw a lot listed there and the druid set in the event list, just figured they were more spread out. Anyway I'm only collecting these for fun I have tons of good items already. Thanks again.

Xrenzokr -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 11:25:17)

Can anyone explain how the Nemesis set's mastercraft bonus work?

afterlifex -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 11:29:44)

The Mastercraft bonus on which item? Each item has an MC effect. Or do you mean the full set bonus?

Nemesis' Testament

Xrenzokr -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 11:46:44)

For Avenger's Principle (level 75 version), I understand that the opponent takes some Harm damage but how is the damage calculated and what exactly is meant by a save roll?

afterlifex -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 12:02:36)

Ok the armor.

Many newer effects make an infliction check like rolling a dice. Status System - Saving Throws
edit: might seem a bit complicated but just think of it as another Hit or Miss check.

In this case every time you are hit the effect is going to make a check, a roll of the dice.

If the monster wins the roll nothing happens if he loses he gets inflicted with the status effect. In this case it takes a percentage of the dmg you just received, 11.9% for this armor . For example if the monster just attacked you for 200 dmg there is a chance the monster will receive 23.8 dmg in return.

Xrenzokr -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 12:10:37)

It seems so much clear now :p. Thanks for the answer!

Xrenzokr -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 13:37:33)

The Overlord set has around 7% base rate chance of invoking Lord's Privilege, right? So which and how do other factors affect the change of invoking LP?

big E -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 14:29:29)

The chance of attempting to invoke it is always the same, nothing can alter this. The chance is 8.6% if all your hits connect, 3/4 of this if one hit misses, and so on.

Once you attempt it, the chance of succeeding is a different story. Here the monster makes a save roll, where the odds depend on you and the monster. You having high LUK increase the chance of success; the monster being high level or having high CHA or LUK decrease it. But because of how game mechanics work, the chance of success will always lie between 30% and 70%.

So if you successfully attempt it, and the monster then fails its save roll, then the effect is on. Makes sense? :)

Xrenzokr -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (10/26/2015 14:31:25)

It sure does :). Thanks.

afterlifex -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (11/5/2015 10:04:00)

Updating entry to reflect the new set, since there is no entry for the previous year at this point I will add the old info here:

quote:

"The Celtic Set" can be found by visiting Warlic's shop(Mage Shop) -> Mastercraft Sets -> Celtic Set!
(Temporary links: Armor, Weapons(s), Shield, Pet, Misc, Quest Maps)

damonraven -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (11/8/2015 3:43:55)

What MC sets are outdated?

Brasca123 -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (11/8/2015 7:21:20)

kindred is the only one that is truly outdated

morningstar and nemesis still need a lv 150 version

all sets aside from osiris, chimeran, asgardian, wyrm knight and celtic are not on the current lean system IIRC

edit: fixed 5 days after the question was already answered just because i don't like incomplete posts xP

afterlifex -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (11/8/2015 10:46:31)

Don't forget Wyrm Knight's Hide is also new age.

Brasca123 got most of it however.

Kindred is the last of the major sets to need a massive redesign.

Morningstar/Nemesis while outdated & lacking a proper end game tier is not that far off of standard. The dmg taken it their biggest thing.

Overlord(reign)/Twilight(Shadow)/Communicate(golden plate)/Taladosian are all in the same boat they need to be updated with the status effect lean system.

Anything else should be fine.

SonicTbear -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (11/13/2015 17:47:50)

If you use any of the Scarab Weapons or the pet with the Osiris set, do you still get the FSB?

Legendary Ash -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (11/13/2015 18:04:29)

As you said yourself, Osiris is a set, meaning FSB only triggers with those pieces, Scarab is separate.

majesticstar3800 -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (12/28/2015 19:34:10)

I don't know if this question belongs in this Thread(It's about MC's but not the MC sets specifically. Feel free to tell me if I should move the question or naw.):

It was done with certain items(I know Ultimon was one) but what are other ways in which Mastercraft is paid for, other than 10% price increase?

Legendary Ash -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (12/28/2015 20:11:29)

Mastercraft means paid by 10% price increase, what you probably meant is that if there was penalties that could be paid off in other ways, yes by assuming bad saves like Gorgonzilla costume which compresses a skill that uses your End to inflict Burn.

afterlifex -> RE: =Q&A= Mastercrafted Items - All questions here, please. (12/28/2015 20:13:42)

The topic is for any MC items yearly set or otherwise.

That is the definition of mastercrafted, paying a slightly increased cost of a 5 to 10% boost. So that is the only way.

I think what you want to ask is "What other ways can effects be payed for other than by Mastercrafting?". So yeah that wouldn't exactly fit here but I will allow it.

Penalties: dmg, use cost(MP, SP) etc..
Price: MC, full cost multi item "compression"
Bonus: powerlvl/bonus penalties(allotment)
handwavy: the staff are being nice

edit: 9/6/2016

Main entry updated with new set "Ice Cream":

Previous set:
quote:

"The Osiris Set" can be found by visiting Warlic's Shop > Mastercraft > Osiris set
(Temporary links: Armor, Weapons(s), Shield, Pet, Quest, Extra )
