Zyrain -> A Guide to Suggesting (8/9/2015 12:13:21)

How to make a Good Suggestion Guidelines Read the =AQW= Suggestions Forum Rules and the Frequently Suggested Ideas thread. If your suggestion post breaks the forum rules, then it's going to be deleted. If it gets deleted, it's never going to be acknowledged by the game staff. So if you want any chance of having your idea added in-game, you must abide by the forum rules. Similarly, if something is added to the FSI it is there for a reason; there is no point suggesting something that the staff have said will never be implemented. Be thorough and comprehensive. Detail, detail and more detail! The more you explain your suggestion and time you put into it, the less likely your idea is to be misunderstood. It shows that you have put a lot of time and thought into your suggestion. For suggestions without art, it also helps the artists understand exactly what you want your suggestion to look like. Be organised, at the same time. The more detail you add, the harder it is to keep everything neat. Your suggestion needs to be easy to read. Simple formatting is always helpful. Alina has provided some templates for events/quests, cutscenes and maps which can be used. Literacy is important. It makes you look as though you took the time to put together your suggestion carefully and therefore makes your suggestion more appealing. Dat meens no talkin lyk dis. Proper grammar is important as well. Always use capitals, commas, colons, full stops, and so on. Suggestions need to be coherent - as no one can truly reply to a suggestion they don't understand - so disjointed, incomplete sentences should be avoided at all costs. Check for previous suggestions. If you weren't the first to suggest your idea, then it is unlikely you will get credit for it if it is implemented. There is also a chance you can be accused of plagiarism if the ideas are too similar; a ban-worthy offence. Taking note of current suggestions will also help you to think of creative and original ideas different from everyone else's. Do some research. Believe it or not, the best way to prepare yourself to post a suggestion is to do a little research. For example, if you are going suggest a class, try to find out if you're going to suggest one that has nearly its exact equal already in-game. Or perhaps you're suggesting a class that has already been announced in the Design Notes as being in the works. The best way to do this is to check out the AQW Wiki or the Design Notes to find out the game's current status. Listen to the comments of others. Very few suggestions are finished and perfect when they are first posted. Almost always, suggestions live on the constructive criticism and feedback from other players, who might help improve your suggestion. Consider each comment carefully. Image Uploading You may intend on using an image with your suggestion. Image uploading is required in order for us to see it, so please do not post links to your computer's hard drive such as "C:\Users\Public\Pictures\WeaponIdea." No one but you can see that link. It has to be uploaded. One of the best image uploading sites to use is Imgur as it's free and easy to use. Others include TinyPic, ImageShack and PhotoBucket, however, these three sites can sometimes cause issues with the images being deleted or unable to be viewed. Twitter is also acceptable as an image uploader as long as your account is public; it also allows comments so people are able to give you constructive criticism on it if you wish. Be warned though, AE has no control of what others may say on there. Please do not use sites such as Facebook to upload your images. They require user names and passwords that most of us don't even have, therefore we can't view them. As stated in the forum rules, you must post the image as a link. This means you should be using [link=www.example.com]example[/link] tags instead of [image]www.example.com[/image] tags. Frequently Asked Questions Will my suggestion even be read? Yes! Both the forum staff and game staff are constantly reading your suggestions. To prove this, check out this massive list of suggestions in-game! Will I be contacted if my suggestion is implemented? You will be contacted by the AQW developer team if they wish to take on your suggestion(s). Do I need to use art? Not at all! Although looking at art helps whoever is viewing your suggestion to envision what you see, it is not a necessity. This does mean, however, that you should add as much detail as you can into your suggestions so that you are not misunderstood. Can someone else create art for me? If you know someone who will create the art for you, that's great! If not, you can always try and find some help from the Art Request Shops forum. Please note that if someone else creates the art for you, you MUST give them credit and treat it as a joint suggestion. Failing to do so will be classed as plagiarism. If my suggestion is implemented, will I have to pay for it? No. Because you are the creator, you will receive the item(s) for free, even if they cost AdventureCoins or are upgrade-only! However, you will need a membership to equip an upgrade-only item. It is important to note that you do not have a say in how the item is acquired, bought or priced; that is solely up to the game staff. With thanks to Alaina, Circe, Gingkage, Laos, Melissa4Bella, Rickyb20, Sora To Hoshi, Therril Oreb and Trog.
