Lord Nightwynde -> Kickstarter (11/20/2015 15:35:56)

Who bought a Kickstarter package and what package did you get? I bought Legendary Founder with Shadow Wolf. I am so excited to terrorize Battleon as wolf. As a shameless plug for it because I love this game, you an find Kickstarter here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/artix/adventurequest-3d?ref=nav_search

Good luck Artix and team! I hope you far surpass your goal.

Defiar

Christophoses -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 18:38:09)

I'm definitely getting the $120 package. However, there should be no other beast transformations for the rest of the game since people went the extra mile to pay a load of money to get the game going.

the warden -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 18:50:09)

not going to bother buying anything for it.

teravor -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 18:56:26)

I would absolutely get the 2.5 k one if I could.

But I'm poor, so I probably won't. Shame.

RKC -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 19:00:42)

Ill try to get 25$ one. Any how would they know which character to give it too?

Gorillo Titan -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 19:35:29)

How about a tier to design your own monster and one for making your own class. $120 is a big jump to $500.

Christophoses -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 21:11:01)

$120 to $500 is a lot less of a jump than $500 to $2500.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 21:57:08)

Could make a tier between that make your own monster. $1000

dragontackle -> RE: Kickstarter (11/20/2015 23:19:02)

If you pay 2000$ or 5000$ for this, they might as well make you a tester or mod.

Vexx -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 0:04:35)

@RKC

You'll be sent a code through your Kickstarter account and you'll be able to redeem the code on your AQ3D account. :)

Note: I believe the estimated delivery date for everyone's codes will be July 2016.

Rezilia -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 6:58:57)

I'm not going to put any money into a Kickstarter this P2W.

If not for the rewards that directly influence the fairness of player progress, I'd have put in atleast $10.

This wouldn't be so bad if AE used the original one-time-upgrade system for G-Tower access and such, but unfortunately they no longer do that. Don't they realize that brand loyalty gets more money than subscriptions and P2W do?

megakyle777 -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 8:12:47)

ck: I'm not noticing anything really P2W. The only thing I can think of is MAYBE Alpha Pirate. Guardian class will be in for all future payments just looking different, Shadow Wolf is pretty much for movement and does not give any P2W advanntage and the Pre Acess Classes will be avalible to everyone (probaby) it's just you will get them when they release. Anything else seems like fluff to me. I don't see any of it as P2W, but if yo wish to point out where you think it is I'm willing to listen.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 8:19:15)

I'm not sure how P2W is defined here. To me P2W literally means you must pay to get premium items to stay competitive, else you will lose on an unacceptably regular basis, making the game all but unplayable for non-paying players. Now, since AQ3D is not primarily a PvP game, since base classes can take down monsters quite easily, and since one can call for a party to fight bosses, I don't see how AQ3D can possibly be P2W, even if every class ever was packaged into that Kickstarter. There is no unfair advantage to speak of - you're not competing with your fellow players.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 8:56:32)

Quick question if you spend 2500 do you still get to make your own weapon even if its sold out?

megakyle777 -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 8:58:53)

Well it's been said that every reward tier includes the one below it, but to be 100% sure you had best ask staff first. Lot of money to spend if not.

Rezilia -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 10:05:03)

Yes, Gorillo. You will notice that each tier states all of the above, plus. This includes the $2500 tier.

If you are referring to the limited nature of the reward, then the answer is no. Only the first 10 backers of the $2500 tier will get the reward.

Regarding the P2W notion. Giving unlimited access to the Guardian Tower, suggestively making the Guardian class only available through this method, and directly stating that the AP class is only available through this method is opening up the chance for extreme P2W.

If the AP and Guardian classes were truly balanced in power with the other classes and if the G-Tower is just a fun hang-out space, then there's no problem.

However, this Kickstarter directly states that AQ3D will be a recreation of BO into 3D. If this is the case, not only classes but the armors mentioned as well will provide extreme P2W and access to the G-Tower will provide a major boon that will act as significant P2W.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 10:16:26)

You could be able to pay for an 'I WIN' button and the game still wouldn't be P2W, because free players can still easily play the game, do the quests, and beat the monsters. There's a difference between paying players gaining an advantage in game progression (which they should, that's the whole point) and players NEEDING to pay in order to gain the requisite equipment to advance. The latter is the true definition of P2W, as I see it anyway.

Guardian is not Kickstarter exclusive, BTW - you can see that they explicitly state which items are Kickstarter exclusive, and Guardian is not one of them. If AQ3D is like AQW the armours will be purely cosmetic and neither Guardian nor Alpha Pirate will be significantly better than the base classes. Not sure why you're so worried about this.

Access to the Guardian Tower is not P2W, there's no 'winning' at all involved in this. It's just an exclusive zone for paying members, like in AQ, DF, MQ and AQW.

No clue what this 'BO' you mentioned is. It isn't in the text and Artix is too mumbly in the video for me to catch everything. Perhaps you mean AQ, and I assure you there is absolutely no way AQ3D can be like AQ even if they tried at this point. Besides AQ isn't P2W at all - Adventurers can advance through the game fairly easily if they know what they're doing. They simply can't access certain quests and equipment, but can otherwise access the majority of the game.

Rezilia -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 10:32:35)

The problem with your definition of P2W is that it doesn't work in an MMO, where there is competition. While it's true that the concept of P2W outside of PvP is artificial, this won't stop players from complaining about it. These complaints, in every MMO I've played (an overwhelming number), have caused major hostility in the community. Any MMO that has a hostile community quickly fails. I do not have a problem with this lite P2W; I have a problem with what it does to the playerbase.

I'll admit that P2W is not the only reason for my not paying. The other major reason is worth. None of the rewards are worth their cost, even objectively. $500 for just a weapon design, seriously? Even if the prices were halved, I'd be more willing to pay for them. I'd far rather save my money and decide on whether I should pay for the game when it is released, as then I can just do so with membership/upgrades.

As for the armor thing... If they are keeping the equipment system in OBT that they have in Alpha, then you're wrong. AQW uses an enhancement system where armors have no stats other than what the enhancements give them. In Alpha, armors give their own stats, which is exactly what they do in BO.

BO = BattleOn. It is easier to say this since the url of AQ says BattleOn and since it keeps people from thinking I'm talking about AQW when I'm not.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 10:50:35)

They already confirmed AP and guardian would cost money before the kickstarter though so they didn't change anything though.

I think they should of had more packages cause now the 500 is out most people are gonna just buy the $120. Would of been better to get 100 500 rewards 10 make your own NPC and maybe 3 of the 5000 rewards. Its gonna take a really long time if people only buy the $120 reward.

Adding more rewards would be the best bet. Cause at most they can only make 10000+ 25000+5000 math might be off on the reward totals. SO only 40000 can be made from the top tiers. while 160000 has to be gotten from 120 rewards so they need about 1333 people to donate $120.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 10:52:57)

@ck

Maybe the term P2W shouldn't be used then to avoid confusion. From what I see complaints mostly centre around a) excessive focus on paying member content to the exclusion of expanding non-paying member content or b) non-paying members having to spend a ridiculous amount of time to access content that paying members can simply obtain through payment. In which case the staff must simply maintain a good balance between free player and paying member content. I'm not sure how 'Kickstarter offers a lot of paying member content' translates to 'staff will focus on paying member content to the detriment of free players'. I think the staff have done a great job of balancing paying members' perks and content with free player content in all their games, though AQW has been tending towards more paying member content recently and ED only ceased to be P2W in its Omega phase.

The Kickstarter payments are not excessive and are largely in line with AQW prices. The $500, $2,500 and $5,000 rewards are not about the items you gain, but the experience of engaging with the staff to create your own content.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 10:58:26)

The free players do get stuff we get new weapons from the people who did the 500 and we can get a unque story from the 2500 members who are regular people like us.

Azan -> RE: Kickstarter (11/21/2015 19:33:18)

I just contributed 120$ to get Shadow Wolf morph.[:D] This Kickstarter is definitely going well so far, I hope it succeeds!

I will still hold to my guns about this. Every single action causes a domino effect. It may seem small now, but ripples form from every slight amount of P2W.

Interesting. I might give it a try then. Did they return classes to the balanced state they had before AE bought the game?

$5/month does not equate to $120 for a cosmetic. If you put up a shirt for $15, it will give you less profit overall than putting it up for $5. The donation rewards are not worth their costs; if they decreased the tier prices, they'd get more money overall since the prices would be more in line with the items' worth. There's a reason why Bethesda went from hundreds of dollars for their games to the recent $70 for Skyrim - the new goal is to get more people to buy the game instead of giving them prices they can't afford, as the former is guaranteed to give more money due to how far the web reaches. You never see items like the morph costing anything more than $80 in Kickstarter, and that's the absolute maximum.

gamegg -> RE: Kickstarter (11/22/2015 1:01:03)

You are contradicting yourself. You stated that $120 is for a cosmetic, while pointing that the game/reward structure is extremely pay-to-win. If it is indeed P2W, then the cosmetic reward should be on low tier and OP class like DmK should be on high tier instead.

Rezilia -> RE: Kickstarter (11/22/2015 4:07:53)

I never stated that a cosmetic was P2W.

As per the morph, I simply stated it wasn't worth the price.
