This class is supossed to be an strength one but all strength skills of mercenary require a club. I think at least one of them should be used with sword because this class is forced to use a club for strength builds. It should be Berseker or Maul because if double strike back to sword, TLM would be able to use it with sword too.

I think strength should actually be returned to what it used to be and, instead, increase the amount of defenses gained by investing points in your dexterity and tech stats.

On topic: I do support this post, the class is supposed to be strength based (I mean since it has a large majority of strength based moves). WIth that being said, those two moves are simply unusable because they cant penetrate defenses as much, use too much energy, and both have a weapoin requirement

I think they just need to buff the numbers of all the strength-related skills in general. That itself would be enough to give some people incentive to run clubs and go strength builds.

STR builds are entirely viable and no buff to STR as a stat or in general seems necessary.

The issue at hand seems to be the glaring inferiority of primary weapons compared to swords, which definitely should be addressed. I am reluctant to further cement the dominance of swords, as OP suggested, and I think buffing primary weapons would be a more attractive solution.

I think buffing strength while buffing the amount of defenses you get from tech and dexterity will be the more attractive solution. Not only will this keep things stabilized, but it will simultaneously buff every single move/core/weapon in this game that uses strength for all classes and builds.

If strength and defenses get buffed, then maybe Support wouldn't be screwing everything over in 2v2 and 2v1.

Exactly, I think it's a wonderful idea to buff str and defenses.

By buff I mean....

Currently:
You- 560 strength
Your opponent- 350 Def and 350 Resistance

With this proposal:
You-580 Strength
Your opponent- 380 def and 350 resistance

STR ISN'T entirely viable. The next time a high rank beats me with a STR build, I'll let you know. Primary damage too low my opinion(fact, honestly_. STR BH and CH are hurt. I used to run str cyber before the 85% static charge dmg + block & rageable bullcrap, now if you malf-theyshield-then you static or strike for 30 dmg, energy gets stolen and they kill you. SWORD str cyber is done, and basically so is BH, and Merc. Buff CSWs and Strength. Damage needs rebuff. I want to use STR builds with decent %'s and low blocks against it. AND merc is trash in general, nerfed for no reason, then never re-buffed to where it should be. Focus strikes 30 normally on other focus...

This is an issue with build variety rather than strength. On a side note, not every class necessarily should have to be able to run a strength build, just as not every class necessarily should have to be able to run a DEX or SUPP build. Block chances are reasonable - against a focus build, with 0 base dex investment and max dex enhancements, a strength build would only face an opponent with a 12-13% block chance, which is reduced to 4-5% if you use Celtic Cleaver. Focus builds only striking other focus builds for minimum damage is expected and reasonable when the attacking party invests 45 stat points in strength and the defending party an average of 100 stat points (total about 200 stat points) in dex and tech (including enhancements).

The fact is that every class can run a dex, sup, tech or even a strength build. It's not our fault as pplayers, that's just how it is and i'll be glad to create any of those builds in any class for you and win nearly all my matches with no problem because I've done.

The point though is not that classes aren't using strength builds, the point is that the classes that rely on strength or have a skill tree that has a lot of skills that are strength based, are dramatically weaker than each and every other class.

Since this is specifically about mercenaries, could you all please move discussion to over there? The Official Mercenary Thread was made for discussions such as this and thus should be used instead of making new threads for potentially nuance issues without being able to be placed in a broader context.
