Maybe a pvp ban for those who get the <afk> tag in Brawl, like 30min where you can't join pvp.

Maybe the simplest option is for those not fighting in a PvP area to not get any trophies at all. And you need a certain amount of kills to get the max amount of trophies. But this may be a problem because sometimes your own kill gets stolen by a stray AoE attack from your teammates. I haven't done PvP in this game in some time now so I can't be sure anything I suggest would be necessary. I do still think some penalty to afk players should be a thing but I wouldn't want this penalty to hurt the players actually fighting on the team that has afk players. Guess I should rethink how to do this to not hurt everyone on the team. Though, a simple kick for being afk in a PvP zone should suffice. Similar to how the game gives you a message about a map being rebuilt and puts you in battleon at times, maybe in a PvP area, it could say something like: "PvP is for fighting. Non-combatants will be relocated. You have 10 seconds to enter the fight." And this could show up when someone goes /afk as soon as they enter.

why do you exclude great thief?

imo artefact hunter. close competitors are: lbma, blaze keybinder, chrono assassin, daimon.

BlazeBinder, and that's with Great Thief included.

Edit: ninja'd by Dracojan, but I feel it's better than AH because it has Burning Ward *and* nothing misses, which is quite an asset vs. Great Thief and LBMA.

My main doomarena class nowadays though is Ultra OmniKnight, which can also take out Great Thief/LBMA consistently thanks to Grand Sweep and its rank 10 passive. It tends to go 10-0 at Victory Most Honorable just by using Invictus pre-fight and Grand Sweep off the bat, then closing in.

i agree that blaze has a superior advantage against dodgier classes and also the unhittable class but AH has higher burst, much lower reflect downtime and much higher defences. overall both are quite alike but manage to work differently well in different situations. also reflection(+damage resist) is superior to everything else right now. so because of the advantages of AH and the majority of classes not being like the unhittable one, i placed it as number one.

BTW i find it quite hard to lose to BB with lbma, in worst case scenario we are even. the stun isnt long enough to kill me and the 1st skill of lbma will always oneshot a BB after a specific hp threshold. BB can reflect a max of 1k hp, which is not enough if reflection is kept for later and if its used early will not be up when the oneshot is coming. multiple stuns in a row may help but still may not be enough. the thing is though, that timing against BB is crucial and if you are not good with timing your skills, you can die every time. now this match up requires a lot of skill. a concept which some ppl of the pvp community praise yet never use in fights with classes not much stronger than No Class.

I find uok a rather good pvp class but it is entirely offensive and reflection will beat you every time. the first skills unavoidability makes it a great class against dodgers and thats really all i need right now - not worrying that a broken mechanic is in the way.

Interesting, I guess most of the (L)BMA's I've fought either aren't as knowledgeable of the class as you are, have a lesser/no amulet, or a combination thereof. I don't have LBMA myself, but UOK has a massive success rate against it thanks to Grand Sweep's debuff and the class's general speed and accuracy.

My goto class for countering Artifact Hunter is Evolved Shaman as it takes away its crits and disrupts its rhythm, keeping them from chaining their Wards by slowing them down and stunning them. Evolved Shaman is ruined by BlazeBinder though, because none of Blaze's skills depend on crit chance.

Why do you guys think new PvP maps go unused so quickly? Death Pit Brawl was popular for like two days, and I don't think most people know Chaos Brawl exists. Is Bludrut on top right now because it has the most gear? Do you think every PvP map should yield the same combat trophies?

You can't leech on Death Pit and there's no significant rewards that can be bought with Hun'Gar medals.
Also, the monsters on every map after Bludrutbrawl are tougher, which makes them less enticing to use.

Now, Darkoviabrawl had really low hp monsters, which is probably also why it was removed.

It's a fairly new class so they wanna test out how good it does in PvP.

Or maybe they're just a bunch of people that wanna test out their "le epik combo move" on a new class or something.

sorceress isnt that good and its annoying to use in duels.
in BB its a lot better.

being a new class, its normal... im sure you were somewhere specific which caused that as well (DA or battleon)

Scarlet Sorceress is goofy to use in PvP. Too much setup to be useful in 1v1. I see them in Bludrut here and there, but they have no clue what they're doing.

There are a LOT of problems with PvP, so I'll just make a small compact list that others can expand/add on to if they wish.

  • Lack of map variety
  • Lack of unique PvP modes
  • Enhancements
  • No interesting combat or combat mechanics
  • No fair level/rank match up
  • No penalty or drawback for certain actions
  • Unsatisfying reward system
  • Absence of proper rank/achievement system
  • Absence of motivation or encouragement (i.e, zero features available to build PvP skillset/character)
  • Little to no competitive market

    I admit some of these may be vague but you hopefully understand the basic ideas.

Somehow a BB match that was 1000 vs 990 that turned into 1060 vs 1040 awarded in team B's favor.
Great, so even if it wasn't broken by leechers doing nothing and getting the full PvP reward, we also have to deal with the fact that the game engine can't properly handle close games?

Still pushing for a better way to get trophies for people who actually work for them, like getting them as drops off of opponents. At least then you have to fight people for them.

^ They already tried to reinvent that wheel by making the unpopular Death Pit Brawl.
There are a bunch of ways of making PvP not soul-sucking, but it seems like it'll be a really long time until they actually fix it to stop leechers.


Also increasing Combat Trophy stack cap to like, 3k or 5k so I can collect all the trophies for the things I want immediately instead of having to split stuff up :v

I actually don't think leaderboards are a good idea for this PvP community. I remember shortly after PvP came out, a lot of unofficial leaderboards came out on youtube and other places that started flame wars the likes of which I didn't think I'd see. I was on a couple of them, and I got so much in-game harassment that I asked to be taken off. I think a lot more needs to be focused on the game mechanics of PvP before we can worry about bragging rights. Right now you'd get them for nothing.

^ the problem with those unofficial leaderboards is that the overall level of play is not factored in. you may be number one in leaderboard x but last in leaderboard y. so you have absolutely no right to brag about anything. no matter how good you may think you are, there is no proof. that is of course no excuse for ppl to be aggressive towards you. i have experienced the exact opposite. ppl who are in some arbitrary leaderboard show incredible amounts of arrogance and what not.

official ranking of some kind will fix both these as long as they are accurate. currently that is not possible with the broken gameplay.

so if we want real competitive esport then the game needs to be fixed, then everything balanced and finally we can talk about things like scores and ranks.
