Asollan -> Help with a max dex/luck build (3/27/2020 16:21:56)

Hi I'm looking to make a new character themed around having maximum block chance which should require max dex/luck. I know theres a potential 3rd stat to max so im wondering what the best build would be for someone who wants to be extremely hard to hit.

NOTE: For this build I would like early levels to focus on dex/luck, not dex/something else then dip into luck. Thanks :)

A Dodge build would usually have 250 DEX/CHA/LUK.
Here's a link to a dodge build guide: https://adventurequestwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Player_Builds#Ranger%20Builds

Are you going for an FO or an FD build? FD can stack blind and bth loss effects via pets and guests, and FO has recently gotten a weapon that inflicts Blind based on damage dealt, making both builds viable.

Also, are you planning to guardianize your new character?

No idea what FO or FD builds are. I've never really been a fan of pet/follower builds though if that's what you're getting at. And yeah If it turns out to be fun I'll probably make this one an X-Guardian too

Primate Murder -> RE: Help with a max dex/luck build (3/28/2020 9:04:34)

FD builds generally use Fully Defensive armors (*0.8 damage dealt and taken), using 100-proc weapons, such as bows and guns (wands or tomes for Int buils), alongside pets and guests.

FO builds use Fully Offensive armors (*1.25 damage dealt and taken), and focus on maximizing damage. The current meta focuses heavily on stun-locking the monster, then making use of powerful elecomp'd skills to kill it in as few turns as possible.

Dodge builds are not really meta, but as mentioned, both FD and FO can be viable, if slightly subpar on the account of Str, Int and Cha being the game's main damage stats.

Probably an FO build would be nice if you got a good guide. Im a returning player. I've made my old main a werepyre str/int/luck hybrid since it was already a str/int/dex-end hybrid which from what i've gathered is meta. So im not too worried about this character not being meta, the idea of blocking/dodging every attack seems fun to me.

Let's see if I can help, then!

Weapons

You'll want to use Ranged weapons wherever possible. They still deal subpar damage at 0 Str, but less so than melee or magic ones.

Time-Twisted Eye of Carnaxcompresses fire/energy.

Cthutlass has a small chance to blind the monster. Alternatively, Lance of Rose's Thorn can be clicked on for a 1.5x damage skill (pairs nicely with Bloodzerker and Beast Form toggles) that also inflicts a strong Bleed - a damage source that uses Dex for infliction and does not rely on stats for damage.

Belmiah's Splendor has a 20% chanceto give you a strong MRM boost for 3 turns. For a more damage-oriented weapon, Kaze Shamrock Naginata has increased chances oflanding a lucky strike.

Shattershard Glaive is a ranged version of bloodblades, dealing +20% damage for an hp cost.

Gloom Glaive compresses earth/harm.

Alchemical Unity is a ranged light weapon that can be toggled to inflict a blind based on damage dealt - which has great synergy with damage boosts like Bloodzerkers or Beast Form.

Infinita Staff sacrifices a bit of damage for an sp heal, greatly mitigating the upkeep of your skills.

Armors

There are two armors with afocus on MRM: Fujin set armor with a quickcast skill that boosts your MRM and Ghost Costume, which sacrifices damage for MRM (and is only available at Mogloween).

EleResists don't really start to matter until levels 70-90, so you don't need full elemental coverage. Still, if you wish to have one for any specific element, subrace armors are a pretty good choice. Vampire seems like a perfect subrace, with an MRM-boosting heal and a Blind-inflicting guest, but most of its skills require mp, and thus Int. If you're going to maxout your Dex/Luck first, I'd suggest going for Werewolf. It has a Dex drive, a Bleed-inflicting attack (non-stat based damage) and a Beast Form for 2x damage.

Rogue class armor summons a cheap guest that lowers the accuracy of monster's attacks by 10 bth.

Othererwise, just pick up armors with elecomped weapon-based skills to take advantage of your Alchemical Unity, as the harder you hit, the stronger the Blind you inflict:

- Bloodzerkers have an hp-costing boost to weapon attacks and a toggle to deal 2x armor-element damage. They are URs, though.

- Torontosaurus Rex deals 1.5x damage of a standard skill for 2x cost.

- Human Fisher has a standard 2x damage weapon-based water skill.

- Angel of Souls has an hp-costing darkness skill.

Shields

Shield of Agony's Blood gives the monster -10 bth lean, lowering their accuracy at the expense of increasing their damage.

Figurehead inflicts the monster with Unlucky when you block a hit.

Fujin shield has a Dex drive.

Horo Show harms the monster and heals your sp on block.

Morningstar shield harms the monster and heals your hp on block.

Emancipator's Radiance from the Umazen Uprising increases your chances of inflicting any Blind effects.

Bloodfang Omen is similar to Morningstar, harming monster and healing your hp when you block a hit.

Spells

Thernda guest boosts the damage of all your ranged attacks. It is a UR though, so if you want something a little more f2p, Essence of Carnage provides a boost to your Ranged attacks and has a chance to harm the monster whenever it hits you.

Purple Rain is somewhat a staple of the current meta. It acts as a save point - first cast saves the sp/mp/hp of yourself and the monster, and the second returns them to that state, but without changing any of the status effects. Great for stacking stuff, then regaining all the sp spent.

The newly released Edoc Imanok is a great quickcast spell for dodge builds, giving +30 MRM for 2 turns.

Moonwalker's Grace is a qc Dex booster. It does cost mp though, so past lvl 55 or so you'll need to run an Int boosting misc, armor or shield to cast it.

Arms of the Dragonguard is a nice spell for high-Luck builds. It's not quickcast, but it does turn your next attack into an automatic LS, giving it great synergy with skills.

Healing is generally underpowered, making potions your best choice. That said, Your Body Heals at the Speed of Light is a very niche healing spell, using your Dex for stats and monster's LightResist for numbers - meaning against monsters with high light resistance, the heal can become pretty substantial.

If you decide you want some damage SPells, your best choices are Your Hand Glows with Awesome Power (Ranged, light, *1.5 LS rate) and Warmaster's Burst (Ranged, fire and wind, *1.5 damage for an hp cost).

Finally, Imbues may be worth mentioning. They're qc token spells that change the element of your weapon-based attack or skill (not spells), which is nice when you have an armor with a powerful skill, and oftetimes have other interesting effects - Fire Dragon Talon gives +50% damage, Dragonslayer Aura deals Void damage against dragons, etc.

Pets

Fire has several interesting pets to choose from. Underwyrmling is the onlypet in the game that can harm monster sp. Sin of Revontheus attempts to lower monster accuracy. Rose Doll from Snugglefest triesto inflict monsterwith Berserk (reducedaccuracy at the cost of increased damage).

Cephalopod inflicts Blind.

Wind doesn't have any exceptional non-rare pets, so just grab the Fujin dragon for a little extra accuracy.

Riftwalker provides bonus defenses against fire attacks.

Morningstar pet inflicts EleVuln or DefLoss, increasing the damage or accuraacy of your attacks.

PikaZard has achance to stun the monster.

Gildead Leprechaun toggles to inflict Blind, and so does Lavender Doll from Snugglefest.

Miscs

Essence Orb, of course, to cover your sp needs.

Excelsior Elixir from LTS gives you extra MRM.

Sight Beyond Sight gives Dex, Luck and MRM, while also gathering charges for a large 1/battle MRM boost.

Ranger's Scope provides a little extra damage and accuracy to your ranged attacks.

Bell Shell heals you based on damage dealt.

Love Potion inflicts a qc stun.

Morningstar Helm gives immunity to paralysis. If you want something a little more sp-efficient, Blood Ruby and Liquid Courage give resistances to paralysis and fear respsectively.

Prime Chaos Orb has a qc skill that shuffles monster resists, allowing you to set up your best nukes. As an added bonus, it also increases all damage dealt on the field, which makes your attacks stronger without much of a downside due to your focus on blocking.

Hope the info's useful and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
