Paladin Class Part 1.5:
A huge THANK YOU for all the great feedback testing our first Tier 3 Class Armor last week! We will be making any necessary updates to the Class Armor as we prepare for the first full part of the Paladin Class release this week.

After an all-out crusade against Necromancers, the Paladin Order faded from prominence as the Leyline of Life and Death burst. Losing the lives of beloved friends, the allegiance of disillusioned members, as well as most of their powers, the Order threatened to become little more than history.

But now, Artix von Krieger has returned from a soul-searching journey, bringing the light of renewal to an ancient oath. He carries the torch of a new power that calls for great heroism to master. It will take an outstanding champion to inspire others to take up the path of the defenders of good, the sworn upholders of justice turning a new page in their legacy.

Artix has called on YOU to join him in founding... the new Paladin Order!

Would have been nice to have a level 150 Test armor to test out the first 5 skills properly. I'm not sure how the releases for the rest of the skills are going to work, but I hope we will be able to accurately test them at level 150.

I'm excited to see how the quests turn out.

I'm curious to know how the scaling will work.For subraces, the armors didn't scale until you completed the final quest, which was only available after reaching subrace level 10.

I wonder if this will be similar, and the scaling armor will be locked until the class revamp is complete?

Is there any chance a class armor could become your second no-drop for pure humans? In place of the subrace transformation?

Is there a Paladin class test bug/misc find thread or off to the bug general thread? Already spotted one, maybe. I tried facing a vampire warrior wearing the testing armor and the anti-undead passives didn't trigger.
Edit: I took the armor to the pit. It didn't trigger passives or inspired status on anything.

The anti-undead passives should trigger on vampires since Redeemer's Conviction does increase my MRM, but Resonant Interference still says unusable for me regardless of the monster. I have seen it work for someone else, so I don't really know what the problem is. I've cleared my cache multiple times.

I'd like this too: this would be a great way to make pure humans viable. There's no reason not to run a subrace now, but having Class armor be your 9th armor slot if you forgo a subrace would make for an interesting build decision.

Hm, you know what would be nice right now? A toggle on Daimyo between extra damage vs. Undead or a damage penalty to inflict a Burn :D

Oh wow, the class requirements changed. Now you need to be a Level 10 Mage, Level 10 Fighter, and Level 10 Knight to train. Looks like I'm going to have to do a bit of extra questing before I can train Paladin.

This all seems to indicate that the Paladin will focus more on being a Jack-of-All-Trades than its prior hybrid focus. Makes sense in that case that it would be the first to get revamped, since it's more broadly usable by a variety of builds.

I'm wondering though: will future Tier 3 class revamps have a more specialized set of abilities? I expect the Necromancer to be more geared towards Mages and Beastmasters, and the Assassin more towards either status effects or dodge builds.

I'm giving the writer of these quest descriptions bonus points entirely because of the Borderlands 2 reference in "Miss Boney Pants Gal", referring to Borderlands 2's "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon's Keep" dlc where the fist boss is "Mister Boney...Pants...Guy?".

'A humble rebirth,' on the other hand, made me lol a bit. Starting off in giant halls, with blacksmiths providing top-notch gear and a reputation that has people from all around come here for help... Humble is not really a word I would use here. Even historically, paladins have always had quite a bit of political power.

The mention of undead from the West made me wonder... Just how widespread was the destruction of the ley lines? Is it limited to the East? The continent? The entire world? And how does it influence regular (not paladin/necromancer) spellcasters?

Also, I really like having the Order fleshed out more - recruitment centers, retirement, medical care... Really, it gives alot of depth to the whole thing.

Are the first four levels randomized?

This might be my favorite incarnation of Artix. His increased maturity and general solemnity really reflects his growth as a leader. It really gives credence to the idea that he will rebuild the Paladin Order into one of true heroes. I especially loved his interactions with the townspeople. Also, the Doubt scene was quite similar to the ones in The Question from the Burning Solstice questline. I'm really enjoying these quests exploring the Chosen's weaknesses and failures.

I also got an error loading "necromancer" twice and it just returns me to battleon.

Sharp. Keep an eye on that detail - Things are starting out a lot better than Artix expected, with a lot more help than he felt he would receive and an at least largely positive reception... but the other shoe hasn't dropped yet; even Braugholt is only the beginning.

For those curious about the leveling format: After playing the original quest, you attain every class level that's not a multiple of 5 by going on a quest with a random source, threat and boss. The stat roll is randomly selected between all stats, and only adds some additional battles rather than restarting if you fail. Bosses who are not already undead or wielding necromantic power have the Necrotic Artifact status and are functionally tagged as undead; that way the Paladin armor is always good for leveling its own class.

Every 5 levels, you get a unique quest as a milestone instead of the random quest. These quests follow from both recent events and Artix's journey of self discovery, containing both the development of the new Paladin Order and... Well, you'll see.

As of the bugs, we've taken note of the issues with specific enemy lists. We'll be flogging Kamui with asparagus until IMRy fixes them. That's how it works, right?
