Very interested to see what this year's fest brings. Last year had some interesting weapons with some powerful status effects, and anything Famine-associated seems to bring similar status infliction focus. Not really ideal items for most of my builds, which tend towards pure damage, but there's a lot of design space to be explored here. (Personally, I'm hoping we see a return of items that inflict Disease, it seems there's a shortage of good ones to use against the more obnoxiously resilient enemies)

With this being the second to last of the holiday events for the year, I wanted to get a jump on something I've been wanting to talk about in the hopes that IF something about this can be done, that I've mentioned it with enough time that something could be done about it. If anyone has actually looked at my suggestion thread outside of the few people who have actually left a comment, I suggested a "Ninjachaun" armor in lieu of what I believe we should have gotten back in 2018. Virtually every time Sham has donned some other gear or armor outside of his typical leprechaun outfit, we have gotten either the same thing or some variant of what the was wearing for said circumstance: • Posts: 2, 3, & 5 = this • Post 4 = this • Captain Sham (no direct monster link) = this • Mr. Frostvalverse (no direct monster link that I could find) and that one with the muskets (during frostvale; no direct monster link that I could find) = Festive Leprechaun (no direct link) • Love potion Sham (I don't remember true monster name & no direct monster link I could find) = this and this (if I remember correctly) I don't know what theme is being planned for the upcoming Blarney event, or if a void boss could/would be added in lieu to provide this. I am not attempting to advertise "my" specific suggestion, but one of this theme and aesthetics, and I think the addition of this armor would help with the fact that: quote: Rogue aesthetics are underrepresented Which I found that us not getting anything that time around to be a weird time that consistency wasn't maintained coincidentally.

Not part of this release but a patch was pushed out. Unfortunate I don’t think many people still have angelic robes but it’s nice that a few existing pieces like brihaldo necromancer have been updated and should provide more diversity in item choices. Hopefully these kinds of bug fixes and mini updates can be a regularly occurring thing. It is rather unfortunate though that it’s frostval rares being completely unobtainable that nobody can really try them out unless you just HAPPEN to have the painting or just for some arbitrary reason held onto it

Thanks Hollow! Fun quest! Liked the reappearance of the ol' King. spoiler: Ooh, new Poison weapons in the Harvest shop. Harvest Sickle and Scythe - from the description assumed they'd be like the Lost Talon weapons but curious if there's a bug that isn't healing from the poison? Reward from the quest is the Venomjade Crown - has a spell that inflicts Harm poison for 392 SP. Also provides a Poison Potency -20.

You can just grab the usual Harvest Festival Painting from the normal "Hunt for Offerings" quest. That will also allow you to replay all the other holiday events from the past as well.

In regards to past Frostval's, What's holding staff back from doing something like, let's say, releasing a main shop with Frostval paintings specific to the year, and inside the painting is simply all the events from that year, with all the rewards? Instead of 1 painting that gives access to a plethora of old content, since Frostval is typically several quests each year, having a seperate painting based on the year would compartmentalize old frostval content and be easier for staff to make the new painting with only that year's content moving forward. And then perhaps another idea, inside that year's portal painting, is that year's gift box rewards in a seperate shop... maybe, and idk how I really feel about this, but old gift box items being made to become z token. And if you have a window with black friday, half price-ish token items, players could buy a half priced painting from any year, access its quests for the year and buy the rewards, and access a shop with z token versions of past giftbox items (scalable, of course) This would give players access to everything. Just random thrown out there idea.

spoiler: The Rat King's speech was so cringeworthy, it was almost physically painful [&:] On a side note, I enjoy the focus on regional conflicts, between individuals, cities, and villages, compared to large cosmic battles for the fate of the universe. Though seeing how the latter affect the former is a treat in and of itself. Edit: Oh, and the reward misc is a poison equivalent of Sunburst Amulet, which makes it pretty awesome for FD builds. I only wish neko armors played nicer with poison effects...

@saphhire: The thing that holds Frostval from being universally available like other holiday seasonal events is the fact that the staff locks them behind a promise of being "permanently rare" (even though most people recognize these precedents being harmful to the game long term). The people who bought the paintings for individual years under the premises that those were going to be permanently rare items would throw a hissy fit because players generally like having their promises kept and not having their items messed with. And the staff really have dealt with enough grief from the player base in recent memory that they probably do not want to open that can of worms. There have been notes from Cray about potentially changing this so that going forward, Frostval will be much more accessible. But yes, Frostvals and Guardian Giftboxes are some of the most egregious examples of gatekeeping.

Sounds like a poll needs to be undertaken, to find out who's for advancement, and who's selfish. My position is that since this is not a PvP game, where inherent advantages of gear can be at play with real character consequences, and because this is turn based and we all are against the game's AI, I don't see even an iota of a twinkle of a thought that would even begin to entertain a practical common sense argument behind why people would be so selfish as to try and ensure only their characters from a time period is allowed access to something. I am not saying there arn't those out there. If so, maybe they're few and far between. I would be willing to bet a poll would reveal a substantially lopsided opinion, that if players had access to old frostval quests/rares and old Gift boxes from past years, it would be far far far more players in favor as to opposed. I might be wrong. And even if the theoretical poll was reverse as to my prediction, it still wouldn't mean keeping things the way they are is the best route forward. I, personally, have been looking forward to this Harvest Fest release for a while, not just to see what new content it would bring, but because I have been anticipating going back to older quests to grab an item or two. For those who didn't play last year, or the year before, or whenever, you can be motivated to STAY PLAYING AQ when you come back by going back through things you missed, or even things you missed simply because you perhaps had not discovered the game before such content was available. In terms of growth and staying power, access to old stuff = new content for many. It's the only logical choice IMO.

ARTIX IN-GAME CURRENCIES ARE GAME DATA THAT ARE INTEGRAL TO ARTIX PROVIDING ENTERTAINMENT SERVICES TO ITS USERS, AND YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ALL ARTIX IN-GAME CURRENCIES ARE NOT YOUR PROPERTY. They actually do have broadly the rights to do whatever they want. And in the past, they have nerfed/modified premium items (think Zealot and Blood/Zerker blades). The matter really boils down to keeping us players happy, and keeping the game around. And that means not breaking promises, and not making us angry.

While I as well as you and other sympathetic peoples would like that to happen, there are probably not more than 200 people who play this game anymore. The last time there were even around 1000 players who played the game concurrently was around 2013 according to Wayback Machine. We have no hard estimates, but the last figure was closer to 300 about 4 years ago, and is probably around half of that today, if even. So 20 of 150 people, while still a minority, is much more influential than the other 130 whom probably either don't care, play infrequently or both. Those 20 people, if we could even give that grouping a number (it's not a group of people who hold back these things from happening, but it's a mentality) are probably the people who have the most investment into this game financially and/or emotionally. There isn't really any way around it. The most pragmatic way without pulling the rug from under from those people is to do things right going forward. Stretching boundaries and agitating those people is possible, but the risks far outweigh the benefits of doing that.

I not only was looking forward to this Harvest fest to check out the new content, I wanted to pick up a painting for it to be used going forward and forever to be able to go back in time and pick up older items. Since the game changes so much, having access to Harvest Fest items in past years might become desireable later on. Since I missed last year's Harvest fest, I didnt pick up Famine Rapier, so getting to play the quest from last year and picking it up was new content for me today, even though for many who were here for last year's Harvest fest may have already gotten it. I like the new misc. +50 to dex and charisma and +40 to luck in one misc is nice, and inflicting a harm poison is also nice . And the Famine Rapier from last year is a VERY cool weapon. Thanks for allowing us to obtain older quests for Harvest fest, as well as provide paintings to revisit for a variety of reasons ;-)

The rat king is a complete nightmare. Could not kill it, don't feel like trying again, spams status effects, not sure how to counter getting triple-tapped with bleed, burn, and poison all at once. The only way I think I'd actually kill him is to just use my BOA and hope for Powerword Die to proc. Quite frankly, screw that, I don't think I'm cut out for this boss, I'm gonna work on something else!
