Zennistrad -> 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 5:18:06)

Happy new year, everyone!

Since we're starting with a fresh slate, I figured now would be as good a time as any to start a thread asking what your hopes are for the upcoming year. I have a few things in mind, personally, that I've been thinking of:

1) Devourer Saga Updates

This is the big one. The Devourer Saga is probably the most iconic storyline of AQ, and the ongoing project to see it revamped to modern standards is one of the things I've been looking forward to the most. It's been a good while since the revamp has gotten any attention and I'd love to see where it will go next.

2) 20th Anniversary Event

This one's self-explanatory, really. I have no idea what's planned for it, but there's no doubt in my mind that it will be something special. It's insane to think that AQ has been going for nearly two decades now, and I can't wait to see what the next celebration has in store.

3) Archmage

Also a self-explanatory one. It'll be very tough to make a class that's cooler than Necromancer, IMO, but considering Archmage has been in the works for nearly a decade now I'm eagerly anticipating to see what will come of it.

And some more minor ones:

1) Updates to the remaining Necromancer Shop Items

When Paladin was release, everything that was purchasable in the old Paladin shop ended up getting a revamp of some kind as well, giving us the very strong Paladin Axe, among other things. The Necromancer shop likewise has a few old items from before the revamp that have yet to be updated, and I'd like to see what can be done with them.

In particular: the Bonethrill Staff, Calavera Club, Necrostaff, Randomizing Beam spells are still outdated compared to the rest of the Necromancer Class.

The Death Knight Minion Armor also appears to have never been implemented with a proper effect when equipped with the Necromancer Cloak Active (beyond the cosmetic change), though I'm not 100% sure if it was ever intended to have one.

2) More Updated items in the Z-Token Shop

This was something that was brought up a while ago during the 2020 sales. Several Z-Token items have been revamped, but there are still a few that could use some new sweeping.

In particular, I'd love to see the Ice Rhino pet be updated and given some new abilities, and the Arachknight armor would also be a good candidate for an update.

3) Champion of the Wind Realm/Champion of the Water Realm Packages

This one's almost entirely motivated by my sense of fashion, but the Champion of the Fire/Energy Realm package sets are some of the coolest looking armors in the game and I'd love to see another elemental variant this year. Wind would be my top priority since that element's lacking in good weapon-based skills, but Water would be a very close second.

Kaizoku -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 6:55:49)

1. Updating Glacial Short Staff to a top level version. We have precious few tomes in the game and I realize making them is a lot of work, but since the animations and effects already exist it would just need some polish.

2. Darkness or Earth tomes. The Necromancer class update would have been a fine timing for this, but I understand the class itself was already a herculean task. I'm mainly just looking to fill in equipment gaps here, and if we can at least cover every element for tomes I don't mind having to wait forever for more of them. And no, I don't count Loremaster's as an Earth tome or Cerberus as a Darkness tome. The first is compression and thus lacking any effects, and the second is unappealing to the random nature of the item.

3. Archmage, booyah! Been a long time coming.

Yozai -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 7:33:04)

1. Less focus on GGB, LTS releases and pointless seasonal void battles when they are in rotation anyway... (I wish for more quests with story)...

2. More Tomes for elements we do don't have and update on Glacial Short Staff.

3. Devourer Saga Updates

Bonus: I wish for 0 Bloodzerker/mages to be released, and a forum that do not b.... complain!

Dr Disrespect -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 7:56:40)

Updates to the original War Armor (Destroyer Part 3), Panic Armor (Jagged Peaks) and Dragon King's Axe (Z-token Weapon Shop)

A buff to the Jester Masquerade Armor (Z-token Shop)

Release of Xerxes' Armor

Bolter -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 8:08:30)

More updates of old items, including z-token ones and updating of old quests as well.

Re-update of Nemesis set in particular. As well as updates to Ubear, Nova Knight & Solaris sets.

Updates of the remaining un-updated elemental dragon blades ( Water, Wind & Light)

Chrono Blades as a special mention for being one of the few time-themed weapons not locked behind calendar promotions.

Varghus -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 9:02:16)

Updates.
A year of where the main focus is updating old content, rewards and classes (Devourer Saga, Paxia, armors, weapons, misc, shields, pets, Mastercraft Sets, Berserker, Assassin, etc).

A neutral Paxia clan that has no chosen element, but emphasizes harm/void and multi elemental.

The STAT rework (would enjoy END getting a small extra effect, like extra SP Regen).

More items that get stronger the lower health you have.

Elemental Magician -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 9:45:46)

Tenebromancer Bloodmage (If Aeromancer Bloodmage is done next I'll be really disappointed - Darkness is not all evil).

RageSoul -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 10:42:18)

My list of somethings :

1) A dedicated Darkness Tome - A pure Darkness element aligned Tome, nothing too fancy.
2) Revamped Assassin class - Would be neat if this class was our answer to having our own equivalent of DragonFable's Chaosweaver; focusing on extreme risk of safety for mowing down single targets
3) Archmage - very anticipated
4) Like others mentioned more Devourer Saga updates as well
5) Incoming Stat Rework involving completely different bonuses to tell each attack style apart (like Ranged getting more BtH compared to Melee/Magic when training DEX) while not depeding on DEX for overall BtH of general gear
6) Dracomogrify revamp - has higher chance to proc effect but only lasts for a few turns unlike Ally Assist Zorbak or Demomorphosis
7) Revamped Manaplosion - more risk of safety coming from MP costs but is more accurate and damaging by raw numbers, not just from its Void element damage

Lv 1000 -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 11:58:52)

Realistic Stat-Rework: I definitely expect this to cover this issues of DEX being absolutely central to any build that wants decent accuracy. However, I think player expectations might be a little too high all things considered.

Item/Game Balance Updates: This would include Purple Rain, Father Time shields, Essence Orb/Pixel Ether, Form Change effects, Kindred/Book of Burns, etc.

More Gap Fillers: More non-rare, non-premium (and preferably non-seasonal) coverage for Wands, Tomes, etc.

Less Focus on "Clones": I'd prefer less clones of items like Bard of War, Bloodzerker, Bloodmage, Mason Form, etc.. While I understand that making "clones" of items is far easier than making new items, many of these items detrimental to general game balance.

Archmage: I feel like this is self-explanatory. The meme will finally be put to rest.

Updates for MC Sets: I think the only remaining sets are Nemesis and Solaris (?). This would be a great opportunity for F2P backlash support and a F2P Light-Element weapon-based skill. Some of the other sets could use a second pass for balance purposes, but this isn't strictly necessary.

Updates to Older Items: I feel like this is best as a "when there's somehow extra time by some miracle of fate" type of thing. What might help is compiling a list and then creating a forum/twitter/discord poll to let the community pick which items should be updated given that there are so many outdated items. Note: This excludes classes, one update per year is enough given how time consuming they are.

Uskius -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 12:51:15)

The dracopyre subrace update. With Archmage now confirmed to be in the works, this is starting to feel less and less likely as time goes on. The 20th anniversary event is something I'm also very concerned for, and I'm hoping it can be something special, like the 10th-13th ones. Everyone else has brought up some things I'd like to see, and in general, I wish AQ is able to keep going in 2022. [:)]

OG Ranger -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 14:10:40)

PD -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 16:41:10)

A lot of what's already been put out there is stuff I've been lobbying for a while now. Especially loving the increased demand for QoL and updates to the game. But here's some other things I'd like see done that hasn't been mentioned yet:

1. New/Low Level Player Experience Overhaul. In terms of playability this area of AQ is by far the most confusing and inconsistent. Unless you know the tricks it's quite difficult to progress. Particularly as I've discussed in the "Extra Characters" thread that the game is at its hardest from levels 50-100. There are also a lot of outdated quests and mechanics which actually make the game much more difficult (particularly the base/early classes which are necessary for training with their outdated roll system and oppressive level scaling system). Even for seasoned veterans of AQ this area is extremely difficult to play, no less progress through.

Navigation of questlines should be a part of this. The staff has thankfully said it's committed to working in these areas so we'll see what happens to that.

2. Improved communication from staff. While communication has improved, 2021 was a step backward in this front. This may have not been helped by the increased controversy that was AQ in 2021 but in recent years there's been inconsistency regarding things. Particularly in regards to seasonal/rotational items where the staff still leaves it an open question of whether items will return or not (in reality, their comment is just not committing to a statement while still continuing with what they do). I'd like to hope that going forward this is improved. If this is improved we ought to see more consistency in which items we can expect to have or not. Which ultimately if we aren't left in the dark so much it'll be a win-win for everyone.

3. Improved Accessibility of Game Design This is really a two parter of the word, but having a general outlook of less seasonal/unobtainables would do a lot for the health of the game. Also, this ought to mean as well designing items so that they are less obstructive to deal with. I've already made a thread about how alot of items and enemies are a combination of:

1. Hazardous to heath (Epilepsy / Color Blindness / Deafness)
2. Laggy and/or inconvenient to use.
3. Having odd/inconsistent hitboxes.

Hopefully these kinds of concerns take a higher priority when creating/updating things.

4. Consistent Farming locations. While the community has compiled a comprehensive list of where/how to farm things, these are still out of the way. There ought to be more in-game direction about this. Affordability of items is actually becoming an issue on this front because the current methods require at least some premium input (a house and/or painting) or unlocking quests which aren't exactly intuitive. Maybe in 2022 we could have a specific location that's dedicated towards this front.

Anyways those are the main areas that I'd like to see improved. There's a lot of things on the plate for 2022 and we're all curious to see where it goes. At least for me it's going to set the tone for my appetite for playing the game for the forseeable future at the very least.

Addendum: Some other thing that I know it's a huge longshot but I'd like to see some API we'd be allowed to work with in the future. If it's done right it would empower the community a lot by enabling us to make tools to improve the game experience. The current offering is often hidden / obstructed and the community actually relies on the current scattered outlook. Centralizing these things would also go a long ways in helping with points 1 and 3.

Addendum 2: With all this talk about how much work there's to be done, I can't help but say that AQ definitely needs to hire more staff and maybe they ought to go find someone to help them with that. There may/not be enough budget for that (or at least, the clarity of one) but it's clear the staff is overwhelmed with how much it needs to do compared to the capacity they have to do things. Maybe there could be discussions of monetizing the game (as much as I'd hate this) by doing things like showing ads when you die and getting a few sponsorships of some kind. Ballywho used to do this at one point and should be explored again?

Also just one note, I'm not sure Nova Knight is considered an MC Set but it's a "set" in regards to having pieces that are offered with each other. There's also stuff from Alnaphar which while not as outdated still use old lean stuff (and don't have "interesting effects"). Hopefully if we have Devourer Saga updates we'll get Nova Knight updates too. Other things that probably aren't proper "MC Sets" but could probably use some updates too: Ubear, Epig, Horo-Show (Just a minor fix on this one though to update its tiers and fix it having too much elecomp)

Also as an addendum to people wanting Z-updates, I'd like to see a re-vamp of the Ares Warlord set.

I very much agree here especially Pixel Ether has to get a balance update to improve the state of the game, I would think the staff will not overlook it

Particularly for 2022, the stat rework and the ArchMage class are the two things I'm very excited for!

Mr. Roguish -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 17:47:45)

1. Take this year to bring everything up to speed seems to be the main thing everyone wants. I can only speak for myself, however I have seen plenty of shared sentiment that I think there is a unanimous agreement that we would all be completely fine if we didn't receive a single "new" item this year. Instead, revamping and modernizing old classic favorites. Everyone would literally lose their minds and be completely content if the staff just took the entire year to update stuff like the nemisis set, boreal bolt plate, assassin class, dracopyre sub-race, solaris set, and devourer saga. This could be done virtually all year and I haven't seen a single person that would have an issue with that.

2. Prioritization of an Assassin class revamp before an archmage class considered we just got the necromancer class update. As well as prioritization over dracopyre, while not the exact same, it is still in line with the fact that the vampire, werewolf, and werepyre subraces were very recently revamped. To be clear, I'm not saying that I don't want the others, they could all be feasibly done within the year, I would prefer that, but going how time consuming each of these are. I personally think the assassin class is the most due.

3. Roguechaun armor that I believe we should have gotten back in 2018

4. A rogue aesthetic item set z token package (as no such has ever existed)

5. a rogue aesthetic armor in the GGB's (as no such has ever existed). One worthy of the ultra rare shop

6. A rogue aesthetic yearly mastercraft set (as no such has ever existed)

7. A rogue aesthetic armor for each of the holiday events that don't currently have one (snugglefest, april fools, mogloween, harvestfest)

Yeah Nova Knight would be part of the Devourer Saga updates. The Alnaphar sets are OK (even if a bit bland), nothing is super glaring or critical here. These sets are also fairly old so updating them might take more time than we would expect. I'd rather that time be spent on Nemesis and Solaris personally. As for the others, the Ubear set would likely need to be entirely rebuilt since it's so ancient and the Horo-Show show would need to be re-tiered to match current standards along with updating the armor skill. As another note on the Horo-Show set, I think only the armor and shield have yet to be updated not including re-tiering, the weapon and misc got changes a while ago.

I think due to how volunteer work has been handled for other AE games in the past it has become much more difficult even to get part-time/project-based help. I honestly think that art/graphics and overall project development are the most logical places where AQ could use some support. While they do need coding support, not many people want to learn how work with one of the most archaic forms of Flash/Actionscript and I can't even begin to imagine how long the on-boarding process would be.

Sapphire -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 20:36:16)

Archmage

No Drop redesign- The ultra guardian and awe sets are now underwhelming. That's the natural course TBH, but an update to make forced items to be desireable should occur.

Dragons- I feel they're no longer as powerful as yhears past. Maybe that's power creep, maybe not, but I think they need a buff throughout. I saw a L160 dragon in the delivery war, so that might help, but I think the larger picture is they all just need something. I propose they gain a "dragon initiative" like how tempest/fae's has, or attempted Fear with massive rate to win to ensure they go first. Small things to make them kings of monsters again.

More Ancient Mother's Staff/Independence Daygur clones

Universal arcane cutlass, that has universal spell boost. I think I had a harm version in my suggestions thread with universal spell boost. I get it wouldn't be as high as the element specific ones, but this is needed. There are no universal non-rare weapons that do this.

More items that are made to enhance pets/guests functionality. Namely, shields and/or MISCS, or even quick cast. Example-> New Years Surprise..doesnt affect pets/guests, and no version for them. But the examples is endless. WAY WAY WAY too many items that help players during their attacks/spells/skills, and nowhere near enough for guests/pets. How many miscs do we have that inflicts something based on a player turn, and how many based on pet/guest turn? If you don't count the bleed/burn from Sol Neko, I can't think of ONE. Not many pet/guest damage enhancer miscs, shields, or weapons and spells that take lesser damage to enhance pets/guests. Just wish to see some love for beastmasters.

Don't know what's planned for any stat redesign, but blocking build is the superior boss choice ATM, and IMO blocking is far far far too general, and DEXT, assisting all blocking as essentially overpowered considering you have melee/ranged/magic blocking. Pure builds being the best offensively and best defensively kills END. Needs to be addressed. Others will hate this statement, likely because they're dodging the fact they know its overpowered (no pun) but IDC really.

Bleed Misc- Attempts bleed every turn. Bleed hugely under-represented, even as some stuff has come out lately. Still not there.

New status ideas, and revamp ones that don't get used. If you're not using it because it sucks, or there's something similar that's better, change it and use it already.

Biggest One-> Old quests, old items get revamped in MASS. Re-build the "old game" to set the game up for a much better experience for the future, new and old players both.

MetalKnight -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 20:40:26)

Guardians Customization - need a new update since it's becoming outdated as it's start getting broken slowly.

Guardian Regular Armors Overhaul - that'll be very nice if they get a overhaul/redesign...
since the design is outdated and can't match its unique art style in the currently new artstyle. plus we'd like have a perm version.

Sweep Update Z-token Shop - we barely have few 143 level items, so the whole shop need be updated, if they have enough free time to work.

Heavily, metal, and bulky armors! - i just like heavy knight-armor stuff... :P

Suggestion Player Item Shop - that'll be very nice if we have a new shop that have Suggestion Player items, like just warlic have a custom face shop.

Inferno369 -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 22:01:17)

Dracopyre updates would be great, maybe offensive beastmaster focused.

Revamped Nemesis set with a possible focus on Bleeding

Stat rework - including cha for all pet related bth and stats, offensive beastmaster builds need a bit of love. Bard of War is great for non offensive beastmasters but an offensive counterpart could be cool. I like the option that Pally gives us for boosting pet/guest damage, but would be cool if the trade off wasn't our attack damage.

Excited for the potential 20th anniversary stuff, can't wait to see what this year has to offer.

Sapphire -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/1/2022 23:55:24)

^ I personally would love a Dracopyre subrace redesign in the same vein as the others. Having some werepyre abilities with some dragon stuff would be very cool. I don't know that beast build makes thematic sense, but perhaps ypou can go into the two lineages...develop a story based on Gracefang and Nightreign. One could get a few of Werepyre's stuff, and then its own. The other could get the other werepyre stuff, and then it's own also. And maybe considering they'd be hybrid to fit thematically, maybe one would be a touch more "Magy" and the other a touvh more Warrior-like, with both able to be hybrids still.

dizzle -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/2/2022 4:03:11)

I really hope they at least bring back the Ice BoW for January. Beast-Masters need love too you know. Since we already have near full ele coverage for zerkers and bloomages i dont think more BoWs is too much to ask. Also ele clones for Aberrant the Exiled would be awesome.

JhyShy -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/2/2022 4:03:59)

1. For this year's BF to have discounted face and slot prices (Because without discounts, they pile up and catch up with you quick)

2. For another redesign for the BoA to have it's glows return (To help give it more personality and have each element more noticeable)

3. In general a No-drop overhaul (Like adding 100 proc options and more stylized options like hammers and axes)

4. More tomes (Only elements missing are darkness and ice)

5. I would love to see more player suggested stuff

6. A redesign of the MechaKnight set (I love the art of it, but it needs better stats to stand with the likes of AoS)

7. Making FO Rangers exist

icetears -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/2/2022 4:15:37)

1. A revamp of the no drop weps to include bows/wands and tomb would be great.
2. I do want some of the old ztokens items to be updated seeing as some of the items were bis back in the day. Or they could be reworked and be included into ggb shops.
Some of the art were great like dragonhand, red vengence, zardbane, blk wartexx and would love to see a modern use for them.
3. Make ice and darkness tomb please.
4. Rework old mc sets to be relevant.

blex12345 -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/2/2022 8:14:07)

Stat rework - Max 300, DEX range only been in limbo for so long
Looking forward to what's planned especially 20th Anniversary

.*. .*. .*. -> RE: 2022 AQ Wishlist (1/2/2022 18:05:21)

Happy new year to everyone!

First of all I want to acknowledge all the hard work done by the tiny team for AQ and for still managing to deliver weekly updates to AQ, to just think that AQ has soon been around for 20 years is quite crazy.

While this is not top of my list, I am still hoping for Artix to actually be a part of the 20th anniverary of AQ and give us the players something permanent in game that we are not expecting.
It would be fitting for Artix to pay tribute to the mother game of AE, but let us see what happens.

I am going to list a few of my concerns:

  • AQ Encyclopedia

    I thought the sages of lore idea that was introduced in August 2019 was a great way to get the AQ pedia up to date, but it has been more than 2 years and unfortunately it doesn't look like it was particularly successful.
    I would be all for scratching the current pedia and we would get an in game pedia instead, yes I know it is a tremendous task, but surely all the coding for all items can be extracted somehow and ordered per item type, elements and etc to provide us with a 100% updated pedia with all the locations to find them unless being seasonal or rare.
    Just to imagine that you have finally managed to beat a tough boss and you enter the shop and you can decide right away if you want to buy that expensive item or not, by having access to all the stats for that item, without waiting for anyone else to do some testing or waiting for staff to post official stats in info sub.

  • Quests in limbo

    As for the quests going in limbo, please expand and overhaul the in game map, I believe I have mentioned it before, it currently looks messy and unorganised.
    An expansion of the current in game map to the west and north would surely help a long way to avoid quests going in limbo.

  • Donation contests

    I think it would be nice to know beforehand all the stats for each item before commiting to a donation contest.
    There must be other players (me included), that have felt a bit disappointed with certain items from a donation contest after commiting and trying to achieve to get to the top spots and then be rewarded with an item that was put straight away in the inventory.
    Also looking at the current donation contest, especially the gold one is quite crazy, the amount currently donated by number 1 on the chart, is the equivalent of buying above 2800 items that would cost 100M gold each.
    Surely staff must admit that a cap should be in place?
    I am aware that it is a contest and nobody is forcing us to dish out insane amounts of resources, but the items that will be handed out eventually, can never make up for all that gold nor z-tokens donated and accumalated over a long period of time.
    I believe the z-token donation contest could benefit from a cap as well.

  • The AWE set

    I would be very happy if it could be brought up to proper standards especially the armour and shield, I am avoiding them as much as possible in their current state and it is a shame to have
    a slot dedicated for something that is not up to par with the rest of the items in game. Also it is not that easy to get and then to upgrade it with GGB just to have it permantly in your inventory and not using it feels wrong.
    As much as this idea is crazy, I would be willling to rent one of my own items taken out of my inventory just to replace the armour and shield for a weekly or monthly z-token fee.

  • The Museum

    Could this item get some kind of update, I mean it is nice to get GGB monthly but this was surely not the original plan of the musem.

    Other than that I am agreeing with what all players have already pointed out in this thread and while I am not a big fan of class armours I am hoping that archmage will change my mind and hopefully the AQ staff can get more help and update some of the old content, like rare z-token items that used to be prime items a long time ago.[:D]

    Oh and of course, I have been pleasantly surprised with so many nice boss challenges, so to the AQ staff please keep this up, it makes the game so much more fun.
