So, a couple of weeks left.

I have seen many many many many people on discord complain that they're getting nearly nothing. I personally received the ranged weapon and that's it. (And I could care less about it) There is supposed to be 30 giveaways per day, and even with the token donation stuff at 10 given away per day both during LY's Frostval (crown) and TY (pearl) I received it within 3-5 days.

There is enough players not getting anything to the point that something ...seems...off? Maybe this was discussed before somewhere, and maybe this needs to go elsewhere, and if so I apologize...but whether it's the reduction from 50 to 30 or some other buggy issue this has been a complete nightmare this time around in my estimation.


So I am not sure if this should stimulate some digging from a mechanic standpoint, system or policy standpoint, or what but it could also just shut me up if a bunch of players reply and say "I have received all items" and I'm just very unlucky. But based on comments on discord, I doubt it.


Thoughts from players and staff?

I really want them armors too but none of my character have it.One of my character got the shield but that's it.The chance to even get the rest of the set is ridiculous.I just want one of the armor to drop but noooooooo......not even the female one was dropping at all~Even with 5 guardian character isn't enough of a chance for me.Do they really want me to guardianize every one of my character??!If the armor doesn't even have that FMS look to it,I wouldn't even bother with this *censored*

I never liked these events, would rather pay tokens for the items. I don't usually get tokens in drives either but there I don't feel like I'm missing out as much.

I have managed to get at least 1 of each item (except the female armor), although it's taken quite a while even playing 10 characters a day (and I would say my luck far exceeds the normal!). That enough should tell you how inequitable this has all been. And I actually wish too that these items had a way to buy themselves again, ideally through a portrait. In the meanwhile every iteration of this contest just ends up taking space in my inventories forever unless I feel like deleting items that we don't even have a proper "rare" status behind them. We don't even know when (Hydro) Schoolboy will ever come back for sure. If there were a specific shop that we could have just for BTS I'm sure there would be a massive buying opportunity considering that Academy Exuberance/Elegance are amongst the top tier if not considered BIS for Wind armors. Not to mention all the people who would (like me) just want to buy the paintings for it so we can simply just buy them when we need it versus trying to game the system endlessly.

On the other hand it was nice that it was extended so we got around 240 more winners, but it's still extremely cutthroat. For all the complaints surrounding the event, it is largely strange that no criticism has been addressed at all. At least with contests there's a good end to artificial scarcity (it's fundraising!). With this scheme there is just nothing.

All I got was the Shield and the Faces and both on my Guardian main. My alts who are all F2P have gotten nothing.

Got the female armor on 2 characters. Feels bad to have nothing else despite daily logins and saving a battle. I'm using 19 characters too. At least we should be allowed a swap between weapons and the armor through the upgrader.

Haven't really gotten anything on mine, and I'm usually playing daily on multiple characters (all x-guardians). I got a couple of items from the prior school contests so maybe that's affecting my luck, but didn't seem to have much luck this year. Ah well, will just have to create more characters for next year!

This raffle is a complete nightmare. It was frustrating last year as well logging in every day trying to get dodgeball z and never getting it, while other people have 5+ copies. I’m not blaming the people who are farming multiple copies of these items because some of them are actually very good, the armors and shield for example. I agree with sapphire something just seems off here. I interact with dozens of players every day who have multiple characters and the *overwhelming* majority have not gotten the shield or the armors. The player base is not that big. Something is not adding up here.

With that being said it just seems weird that you would take an armor and shield which are arguable BiS and lock them behind a raffle. I haven’t met a single person that likes RNG odds in all my years of playing different games lmao. Please staff can we reevaluate the situation and maybe discuss an alternate way to get these items that way the unlucky folk don’t miss out? I’m finding every time I log in to the game and didn’t get an item I just get aggravated and shut the game off lmao. Hopefully we can figure something out here

They have not answered as to why they drop from 50 to 30, I did managed to get a couple of things myself but I noticed only 2 out of my 6 characters won items, the remaining 4 have yet to win any, and they are all guardians too.

Haven’t got much luck throughout the raffle at the start but managed to get the armour, range wep and face only. Was hoping to get the shield and magic wep. The rng seems bad this year.

I also personally have yet to get a single item from this one, and only managed to claim a few scarce items in the past. Perhaps it's time to just offer out a buy out option for the contest items rather than deal with rng alone? Keep the free option there but allow a marked Ztoken/painting version we can buy with either option also opening a reward shop at Ballyhoo later once the contest closes for pure gold versions for alts.

Feels like the issue is, it should be 1 item per account...like 1 shield per account, considering it can be moved around with the vault.

Or once an account gets the item, the other characters on there get a reduced chance to win...

It seems some have many wins, and others have none.

The system is rewarding people who play with 698698768976 characters and those who play with 1, 2, 3, etc. Some may see that as fine, some may think it's unfair.


At the end of the day, something's off. Maybe it's a simple as the reduction from 50 to 30...

To further inform, that character ID is put on a registry, so even if said character vaults the item they are not eligible to receive it again. Furthermore, that registry persists between events so if next year's BTS has the same items (as in not clones with a different element) then any and all characters that got items this year will still not be eligible to receive them. [8D]

That said, I am not a fan of these lotto events in general.[&:]

I was thinking about this issue during this contest. The best solution that i could think was a registry that only allows one item win per account but with a shop for that said item in Ballyhoo, then the player could get new copies and trade them between characters. Since we are going to get a character slot expansion, this issue tends to get worse. Faces are a special case, since they can't be traded yet.

I also wished that the Female/Male versions and Weapons of this School set could change between each other in Inventory Manager like Aura Knight said above.

I am very sorry folks, the last thing we'd ever want is for something like this to be a source of stress! We are now giving away 100 prizes daily, 75 for Guardians and 25 for Adventurers lvl 35+. This should get a lot more prizes in your inventories, and I'll review this before the deadline to see if the contest needs to be extended again.

Winning id#s are recorded so if a character does win one of the prizes, they are no longer eligible to win that same prize, even if the prize is vaulted. If a character has not won a prize (ie. the shield); but takes the shield from their vault, it will make that character ineligible for the shield, until they return the shield to the vault.

I also considered adding shops for the prizes, but with the pirate hacking Captain Rhubarb had to use, it makes adding shops not a possibility.

If an extension is being considered, the difference needed to make up for lost time between Sept 1 and today (Oct 19) is 33.6 days (70 * 48 / 100). I think just for fairness, we could have the contest extended all the way until Dec 1st (44 days from today). That would allow everyone who missed a prize well enough time to compensate, as well as give roughly a week extra for those who were discouraged from the earlier shortages to come back.

I support more people being able to get the prizes, but dont extend the period TOO long. If EVERYONE gets it, it stops being special.

While I appreciate Hollow making it easier to get the items, I don't think there is a need to extend this. This has already been extended and its okay if you don't get the rewards. This is just a contest and we have to chill with the FOMO. I've logged in everyday for the past month and a half and got just one item, I think its fine if you don't get them.

Thanks for increasing the prizes Hollow! I am personally of the opinion that anyone who plays semi-consistently in September/October should have a good chance of getting the Back to School prizes, so I appreciate the prize increase.
