Welcome, Sky Participants! This thread will be your Out-Of-Context forum for the competitors of the Sky Arena to discuss tactics, collaborations, and plots, as well as to ask questions of your fellow combatants and to provide any additional details necessary to clarify your character or your actions. It should also be used for necessary communications with the Director in requesting extensions. As a reminder, you are required to post every 4 days. While I will do my best to provide 24 hour warnings, please do not rely on these. I must be informed in advance if an extension is needed. Each of the combatants in this arena will be placed at an equidistant starting point. The order in which you are listed in the roster is the relative location you enter the arena in, with the first competitor entering at the North (top) of the arena and moving clockwise around the edge of the arena. Alternatively, you can view this as the competitor listed above you will be on your right and the competitor listed below you will enter in on your left. All contestants are assumed to enter roughly at the same time, regardless of posting order. Feel free to ask me questions within this thread, via PM, or via the AEF RP Discord Server if you have any details you would like clarified. Our Discord Server can be found here. Deandra Vill, created by Starstruck! In addition, I will be editing in any questions that may be useful for all combatants to read. Beginning with: What are the dimensions of the arena? Most Paragon Phase arenas share a similar construction when it comes to the dimensions. From the geometric center it is 65 feet (19.8 meters) of terrain until reaching some sort of barrier - a wall or a lethal hazard in most cases. Entrance ways vary by arena in terms of design, but consist of eight equidistant points starting from cardinal North. This version of Sky has no physical boundary for walls or ceiling, and a fall at this height is likely fatal. What is the lighting of the arena? While the stands are swallowed entirely in darkness, the arena is frozen as if it had just experienced sunset - were the sun to set through the middle of the arena. Light is brightest at the center and fades going outwards, and shadows are cast as if from the center, but even the outskirts are dimly lit. What are the asteroids there for? What is space without an asteroid belt! The asteroids form a ring roughly at the halfway point of the arena. The ring itself spans about 5 feet and has a radius to the center of the arena of 35 feet (10.7 meters), and hovers at around chest height for an average person. There are several dozen asteroids that make up this ring, and vary in size from 1-3 feet (0.3-0.9 meters) in diameter. These asteroids can be pushed and interacted with, though it takes a significant amount of force to send them flying - say, a strike with a hammer or similar, or a full on body tackle. If sent flying, the asteroids will continue in a straight line until either they come into contact with something or disappear at the edges of the arena. In the case where an asteroid strikes something - or someone - it shatters and dissolves back into the void. You cannot play pinball with the asteroids; they will always shatter upon a second hit to the same stone. Asteroids that go flying out of the arena bounds melt away upon reaching 10 feet (3 meters) external to the arena boundary edge, or upon reaching 20 feet (6 meters) above the arena floor. We’re getting judged now right? What are you looking for? Each Director has their own writing elements that they look for and their own methods for selecting the Paragons (and, later, the Champion). I do not use an official point scoring system of any kind, but I do look at seven key criteria. In no particular order, they are: Combat Activity (Use of Abilities, Reasonable Physical Actions, Pacing of Actions) Character Interactions (Accounting for Opponent Actions, Dialog, Environmental Awareness/Acknowledgement) Consistency (Writing Style, Mana/Stamina Usage, Cross-Post Awareness for Injuries/Actions/etc.) Storytelling (Complimenting the Action, Relevancy to Combat, General Worldbuilding) Character Personality (Growth/Development, Passion/Emotion. Show me why they want to win). Technical Writing Ability General Creativity & Uniqueness
