General Mechanics


  • Gives monsters 10% + 1% more base damage per Level, up to 200% base damage on Level 90.
  • Increases enemy HP between 1.9x to 2.1x, with a bias toward 2x.
  • Removes all guests except those offered from quests; swapping to Doomed Mode mid-quest will remove external guests on the spot.
  • Monsters will receive a random trait effect based on their element.
    • There is a generic trait pool shared by all elements that elemental traits are then added to.
    • There is also a group enemy trait pool that can be drawn from when there are multiple enemies in a fight. Group traits cannot be applied to the "first" enemy in a fight.
  • Monsters will receive a random trait effect based on their enemy type.
    • There is a generic trait pool shared by all enemy types that type traits are then added to.
  • Stun effects applied to monsters will be limited to 1 turn duration; stun effects applied to the player still have full duration.
    • The player will not have any innate chance to resist an affected stun effect to themselves before Immobility Resist (excludes All Resist).
  • Traits can buff the monster or debuff the player (removed when the monster is defeated).
    • Traits are always applied in the beginning of the battle and both traits are added to the monster's name (<Element Trait> <Type Trait> <Original Monster Name>).
  • Monsters will drop 3x Gold as a reward.
  • Arena at the Edge of Time monsters have static 2x HP and 2x damage, but will not get any random traits.

  • 'Blazing': Permanently applies 'Blazing' (+50% Boost) to monster.
  • 'Conflagrant': Permanently applies 'Conflagrant' (+50 Crit) to monster.
  • 'Melting': Permanently applies 'Melted' (-10% Non-Crit/DoT/Crit Damage Reduction) to player.
  • 'Smoldering': Permanently applies 'Smoldering', a HoT effect equal to 5% of the monster's maximum HP, to monster.

    Water

  • 'Purifying': Permanently applies 'Purifying' (+25% DoT Damage Reduction) to monster.
  • 'Revitalizing': Permanently applies 'Revitalizing', a HoT effect equal to 7.5% of the monster's maximum HP, to monster.
  • 'Soaked': Permanently applies 'Soaked' (+10 All Resist, -10 Health Resist) to monster.

    Energy

  • 'Charged': Permanently applies 'Charged' (+100 Crit) to monster.
  • 'Electrified': Permanently applies 'Electrified' (Retaliates 10% of monster's base damage range to the attacker, excluding pets; effect disabled while affected by attacker's stun effects) to monster.
  • 'Voltaic': Permanently applies 'Voltaic' (Heals 10% of the direct damage dealt) to monster.

    Ice

  • 'Crystalline': Permanently applies 'Crystalline' (Reflects 10% of attacker's damage to the attacker, excluding pets; effect disabled while affected by attacker's stun effects) to monster.
  • 'Frigid': Permanently applies 'Frigid' (+50 Immobility Resist) to monster.
  • 'Glacial': Permanently applies 'Glacial' (+25% Non-Crit/DoT/Crit Damage Reduction) to monster.

    Wind

  • 'Blustering': Permanently applies 'Blustered' (Alternates between applying -30 Bonus and -30% Boost each turn) to monster.
  • 'Storming': Permanently applies 'Storming' (+30 Bonus, +40 Crit) to monster.
  • 'Tempestuous': Permanently applies 'Tempestblown' (-20 Bonus, -30 Melee/Pierce/Magic Avoidance, -30 Block/Parry/Dodge Defense) to player.

    Nature

  • 'Evolved': Permanently applies 'Evolved' (+30% Boost, +30 Bonus) to monster.
  • 'Regrowing': Permanently applies 'Regrowing', a HoT effect equal to 5% of the monster's maximum HP, to monster.
  • 'Reverted': Permanently applies 'Reverted' (+100% Non-Crit Damage Reduction) to monster.

    Stone

  • 'Sandy': Permanently applies 'Sandy' (+25% DoT Damage Reduction) to monster.
  • 'Solid': Permanently applies 'Solid' (Monster cannot go below 1 HP from direct damage upon reaching 1 HP for 1 turn) to monster.
  • 'Sturdy': Permanently applies 'Sturdy' (+25% Non-Crit/Crit Damage Reduction) to monster.

  • 'Bright': Permanently applies 'Bright' (+60 Melee/Pierce/Magic Avoidance, +60 Block/Parry/Dodge Defense) to monster.
  • 'Luminous': Permanently applies 'Luminous' (+60 Bonus) to monster.

  • 'Leeching': Permanently applies 'Leeching' (Heals 10% of the direct damage dealt) to monster.
  • 'Shadowed': Permanently applies 'Shadowed' (+30 Melee/Pierce/Magic Avoidance) to monster.
  • 'Shrouded': Permanently applies 'Shrouded' (+30 Block/Parry/Dodge Defense) to monster.

  • 'Blessed': Permanently applies 'Blessed', a HoT effect equal to 10% of the monster's maximum HP, to monster.
  • 'Destined': Permanently applies 'Destined' (+100 Evil Resist, +100 Darkness Resist) to monster.
  • 'Heroic': Permanently applies 'Heroic' (Monster cannot go below 1 HP from direct damage upon reaching 1 HP for 1 turn; gains +90% Boost, +90 Bonus afterward) to monster.

    Other information
  • Doomed Mode allows all foes to have increased HP and damage, random traits, and other restrictions; it is not recommended to enable this mode unless you are up for a serious challenge.
  • Doomed Mode was originally named as 'Hard Mode' on May 28th, 2010, before being renamed as 'Doomed Mode' on June 11th, 2021.
  • Doomed Mode was updated with stun effects applied to the player on February 14th, 2025.
  • The Doomed Mode rework, which included random traits based on the monster's element and type as well as other exclusive features, was a long teased rework since February 23rd, 2018 before being released on September 5th, 2025.
