Dialogue
  • Fae joins you as Guest A.

*You are in a campsite on the Deadlands while your dragon is sleeping.*

<Character>: Looks like the last of them. I don't think anything will bother the camp anymore.

*Fae enters the scene as she found an entrance to Aine the Horned Curator's library; it appears that she is now wearing an expressive mask since the last time you met her.*

Fae: I found a good entrance! We don't have to break that nice door! I'd really like to get it open, but get this!
Fae: It has the story of the library written on it! Or the start of it. Maybe they wrote a new chapter on the door of every expansion...
Fae: ...I hope not, then this would be the only one left... Um. Sorry! I'm doing it again.
<Character>: It's fine, Fae! It's interesting! Besides, it's really good to see you happy. The Deadlands get way too dreary.
Fae: It's not all that bad. Well, the haunted battlefields are horrible, and you know if you get bogged down there, they'll trail you for days...
Fae: But there are also places like this! Valias! The Alabaster Archives!

*Fae turns around to the direction of the library.*

<Character>: I didn't know a library survived in the Deadlands. There's so much more here than I've seen.
<Character>: You've really become a top notch explorer since the last time we met.
Fae: Thank you! You could totally do it too! You just have to be really fast here.
Fae: I can't pull it off all the time, though. I can breathe fine here thanks to this wonderful mask that Valencia got me, but when it gets colder...
Fae: A-and I can't work with teams most of the time, because if anyone's been sick, then I'm going to be sick for a long time and... Um.
    <Character>: I'm so sorry, Fae...
Fae: It's okay! I really am fine by myself, but sometimes it's really not a job for one gal. Especially around these parts!
Fae: There's so much to discover in this land, if we can save it before it gets caught in an elemental battle...
Fae: ...or consumed by an ancient titan lord of eternal hunger.
Fae: Speeeaking of which, is the coast clear?
<Character>: Yep. Nothing followed us, and there were just a few skeletons to deal with. It's a good camp spot.
Fae: Good! This might take us a while, so I'd better finally have lunch before <Dragon> wakes up and I don't get to take out my sna...

*Scene zooms out as your dragon wakes up and glares at Fae.*

    Fae: ...apping bug collection! Hi!
<Dragon>: Hi there, old young lady! | *Teasing greeting chirp*
Fae: We're all awake, then! I guess it's time to start exploring!

*Fae quickly turns around at the direction of the library as you and your dragon are ready to join her; this grumbles your dragon as they are hungry again.*

<Dragon>: I heard you were talking snacks. | *Hungry grumbling*
Fae: The legendary appetite of heroic dragons...
<Character>: Sorry. I'll make sure she actually leaves you some this time.

*You are now in Aine the Horned Curator's library; you fight various monsters as you explore the library.*

<Character>: Wow, Fae, how did you even find this place?, Fae: Old books, of course! I cross-referenced a few crumbling stories and legends, and narrowed it down!

Fae: Hmm, it looks like not much is left untouched this close to the surface...

Fae: I was really hoping to find something handwritten in here... It was supposed to be a library... Oh. Wait, is that a way down?

<Character>: Incredible. I'm amazed this part held up so well. How'd it even survive all this time?, Fae: The stories say they sheltered here when the nearby city was sacked. They held the line here for days until hope arrived in the sky...

<Character>: Watch your step, this room looks unstable., Fae: I was going to tell you the same thing! All of these books... I hope we can find a way to save them all.

<Character>: Oh, the cover on this book has an illustration that looks like <Dragon> wearing a... very silly hat. Huh., Fae: What?! W-wait wait wait, this is a really old and delicate... Oh, it's a cookbook. I wonder what kind of recipes they had!

Fae: I think what we're looking for is... right over there!, <Character>: Be ready for anything...

*Eventually, you, your dragon, and Fae enter a vaulted door, which contains a room with two tablets; before they can enter the room, you, your dragon, and Fae peek through the door as they suspect traps.*

<Character>: All quiet inside, no triggers on the door...
Fae: Lucky so far! Watch my back, I'll check for traps.

*Fae enters the room and looks at the floor.*

Fae: No tripwires or false tiles!

    *Fae looks at the walls.*

Fae: No arrow walls... I should hope so, but it can't hurt to check!

*Fae looks at the green orb lights at the right side of the room.*

Fae: Something magic up here! Just lights. Or so they claim.
Fae: I'm watching you, you possibly vicious lightning-hurling orb of doom waiting for the moment to strike...

*Fae looks at the green orb lights at the left side of the room.*

Fae: The relief is most likely NOT an ancient construct that will come alive to avenge its fallen legacy! Probably. Maybe don't lean on it.

*After checking the room, Fae calls you and your dragon that it is all clear of all traps.*

    Fae: All clear, come in!

*You and your dragon enter the room.*

<Character>: It didn't strike me as the trap-crazy temple kind of vault, but sometimes the best surprise is no surprise.
<Character>: ...Oh, wow. This is intact. Is this it...?

*Fae nods to you briefly before she walks toward the two tablets known as The Caretaker's Hood.*

Fae: The Caretaker's Hold. Her life's work... Everything she wrote, and everything she tried to save...
<Character>: This is incredible, Fae! You were right!
Fae: Thank you so much! I'd better pick somewhere to start or I might just cry...
Fae: Okay, okay... We could carefully load the cart with anything upstairs that's in danger from collapse or the elements.
Fae: I don't want to move anything here, though.
Fae: It's going to take days just to write it all down, so thanks again for agreeing to cover me.
<Character>: You're welcome! You really don't have to keep thanking me, though.
Fae: I'm just really glad! And I don't want to impose? I don't usually sit in one place for that long around here... Huh.

    *Fae examines The Caretaker's Hold.*

<Character>: What do you think that is?
Fae: It's preserved with Earth magic. A really gentle Stone magic inside a preserved Nature shell... Talk about familiar, right?... Wait.
Fae: Wait! I can read this.
    <Character>: Hang on, really?
Fae: I had to learn to write all over again, but I know some of this! It's written in two scripts, and I can kind of read one.
Fae: The words are different, so let me try the big title to make sure I don't misread.
Fae: This is repeated? First word is missing a little piece, but it's got to be Prince...
Fae: ...Prince Bearprince? There's no way it says that.
Fae: The... life or romance, not legend, this means more like history. Of Prince...

*Suddenly, Fae is surprised by the revelations from The Caretaker's Hold.*

    Fae: ...Prince Arthmail.
    Fae: <Character>! P-Prince Arthmail! The half-dragon prince!

*Amazed by this discovery, Fae frantically grabs you as she gives you the details of Prince Arthmail and his true history to you.*

Fae (momentarily): It's King Awethur! The Halcyon Tablets, the first story of King Awethur!
Fae (momentarily): They've been missing for centuries! Lots of centuries!
Fae (momentarily): The Caretaker had them this entire time and Valencia isn't going to believe me unless you back me up!

*Fae stops grabbing you as you try to understand on what she said earlier; suddenly, a sound from above shakes the room.*

<Character>: ...Upstairs. Eyes open, but quick, before we're buried!

*You, your dragon, and Fae exit the room, however, something appears to be amiss.*

Fae: *huff* Nothing's... Nothing's collapsing? *COUGH*
    <Character>: Then what's going on...?!

*You, your dragon, and Fae continue to run until they come across a seemingly dead corpse of the Guardian Dragon.*

<Dragon>: Old guy!! | *Worried roar*
    Fae: The Guardian Dragon?!
    <Character>: Watch out!

    *Scene cuts to black.*
