The path through Oaklore has long been a key crossroads for travelers, who use the nearby bridge to cross the mighty River. The strategic value of this crossing was not lost on the King, who realized the importance of open and accessible travel to the security of the kingdom. As such, the Knights of the Pactogonal Table were dispatched to the forest to establish a garrison. The Knights chose to establish their new home around the base of the ancient giant oak tree which gave the forest its name. Over the years, the garrison has grown (Page 2) from a few scattered buildings to a walled Keep which surrounds and actually includes the Oak as part of its construction. From this stronghold the Knights are able to maintain the river crossing, as well as patrol the surrounding forest and offer assistance to the nearby town of Falconreach. Oaklore Keep has grown into a vital hub, and new visitors to this part of Lore often stop here to learn the lay of the land before proceeding into town. (Page 3) Great Invasions In the summer of the first year of Falconreach, the great earth dragon, Gorgok, attacked the neighboring town of Willowshire. The Guardian Tower of Stone was all but destroyed in the fury of his attack. The brave Guardians of Falconreach rallied and fought the waves of Dravirs, Togs, LizardMen and Sneevil mercenaries. In the aftermath of the destruction it was discovered that the door to the basement of the tower had been wrest open. The ghost of Lord Alexander Valorus, Guardian of the Thorn and the first Commander of the Tower, although now bereft of his mysterious and powerful treasure, was (Page 4) able to pass on the Guardian Blade to those who had taken the oath. In the fall of the first year of Falconreach the evil Dragonmaster Frostscythe and Glaisaurus the ice dragon attacked our town in the hopes of stealing a powerful orb from our Guardian Tower. Waves of Polar Dravirs, Artic Wolves and Snowballs attacked from the west side of town and were driven back by the brave guardians of town. Frostscythe’s own Dragon Amulet was broken, thus severing his connection to his army of frost dragons. He still continues on his misguided quest to become the next Dragon Lord. In the spring of the second year of Falconreach, the fiery minions of Xan (Page 5) surrounded the town due to the devious planning of Xan and Drakath. Inferno Elementals, Lava Globs, Flamewings, Jungle Furies and the mighty Bassault attacked from all sides and, one-by-one, the buildings of town were burnt to the ground. In the midst of all confusion, the 50,000 Knights sent by King Alteon, including his 299 Elite were defeated andthe King himself went missing. When, at last, the King was found, he revealed that Xan had defeated his Elite with a single fire spell. Despite all odds, the heroes prevailed and the waves were defeated before the last board of Falconreach burnt. Xan decided to do what his minions could not, though, and stepped up to defeat the hero who had (Page 6) decimated the waves of monsters he had sent to attack town. Using the Pyronomicon, Xan used a single fire spell to defeat the brave hero who had helped to defend town. Even though Xan remained undefeated, this hero was the only one brave enough to stand up to the evil pyromancer and save the lives of all the townspeople. Using the gold donated by them and the other heroes of Lore, we were able to rebuild Falconreach. (Page 7) The Origins of Falconreach The town now known as Falconreach had its beginnings as a simple logging camp located between the Oaklore and Surewould forests. It was on the site that the Linken family chose to establish their sawmill, which would later play a vital role in providing lumber for the construction of the surrounding towns. To this day, Linken logs can be found in many of the buildings in Amityvale and Willowshire (or what’s left of it), as well as in the nearby Oaklore Keep. Falconreach had always sat astride a major trade route; and after the construction of Oaklore Keep it experienced a population boom, as (Page 8) merchants and craftsmen moved in to support the nearby garrison of Knights. Key to the town's growth was the founding of the Falconreach Inn, which catered to weary travelers, and Yulgar's Smithy, which provides weapons and equipment to both the local Knights and would-be Adventurers. Falconreach also currently supports a Barber, a Potion Shop, a Pet Store, and a Town Hall which cater to the many needs of its residents. Falconreach is also home to one of the mysterious Guardian Towers. These Towers appear randomly throughout this region of Lore, though after the destruction of Willowshire by Gorgok and the abandonment and haunting of the Amityvale Tower the Falconreach Tower (Page 9) may be the only one still active. The Guardians who inhabit this tower will occasionally recruit new Adventurers into their ranks; but only after they pass a series of tests to prove their worth.
