DF have a lot of pun and spoof, like the Aria in wonderland

The Galin Killer -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (12/6/2009 0:58:57)

It seems that the barren outpost in ED is inspired by the marauders in RF:G
The structure in the backgroup even looks the same!
Not to mention the level 8 marauder and the landscape

slicernicer -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (12/6/2009 11:31:45)

The Azma lake quest in AQ is pretty much a spoof of Alien vs. Predator

The Void wraiths in MQ remind me of the wraith, a vampire like species from stargate Atlantis that survived on "sucking" human life force from them

Travis Touchdown -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (12/7/2009 14:02:28)

In the Ruins of Rundlecrum quest in AQ, one of the enemies is called Cara Loft. This is a reference to Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series-- it's even given away when she says that she's "a tomb rai-- er, robber".

EDIT: Typo fix.

In the save Warlic quest in AQ, Doctor Voltabolt's children look like Leela and Fry from Futurama

quote:

1) Saint Dane says that humanity is flawed, and he is trying to destroy Halla and rebuild it as he sees fit('unflawed').
The'Galin claims creation is flawed and wishes to recreate an unflawed universe

2) Saint Dane cannot be defeated
The'Galin cannot be defeated

To add to this:

Remember those inter-dimensional portals that let you bring in army/guests for wars?
Those vaguely remind me of flumes.

The Z.A.R.D.I.S - An obvious reference to the Doctor's ship, the T.A.R.D.I.S.

To me Morrowood sounds like Morrowind(an Xbox game).

I actually analyzed Necryptos from Mechquest, and have a kind of reference analysis/explanation that I came up with.

The name of the girl on Necryptos, the vampire planet, is Mina. For those who have read the original novel Dracula, Mina was the nick-name of the girl who Dracula was attempting to change into a vampire. In the game, she is bitten by a vampire but does not instantly transform into a vampire, and instead assists in trying to defeat the vampires. This mirrors her role in the novel, as she does join with her fiancee Jonathon Harker and Van Helsing in an attempt to defeat Dracula. In the game, Han Velsing is the parallel to Van Helsing, and effectively your character is playing the role of Jonathon, as the man who is defeating the vampire, minus the fiancee part. Also contained in Necryptos are quite a few other references that I believe should be noted. One is the whole Sekali Desert zone. The whole zone is a reference to ancient egyptian mythology. The desert itself is a reference to the Sahara desert in Africa, and the zone ingame is actually in the area of Egypt, including pyramids and the Sphinx. Now the boss of the zone, Nephyrisis, is a reference to another ancient Egyptian blend of myth and fact. Her name is a blending of the name of an ancient Egyptian queen, Nefertiti, and the Egyptian goddess Isis. Myth has it that Nefertiti was so beautiful, she could make any man do what she whimmed. This is mirrored in game as her legend contains element of this, as she was able to make men vampires through attracting them with beauty, and then transforming them into vampires.

The quest "Pachelbel's cannon" in DF is named after a song Named " Pachelbl Canon" Composed by Johanne Pachelbel

the warlic statue in Falconreach has a Monty Python reffrence. "He got better"
She turned me into a newt.
A newt?
... (in a quiet voice) I got better

Glais -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (12/26/2009 7:41:25)

Maximillian from AQWorlds seems to be a reference to Chaotic.
A character named Maxxor wears armor that looks exactly like Maximillians and they both have Max in their names, also Maximillian was released near the time of the episode where the armor was first used.

Also the ShadowScythe devastator looks almost exactly like Devastator from Transformers:Revenge of the fallen(too bad he didn't come witha ShadowScythe combination cutscene).
And some MechQuest to halo references:The Shadow E Series=Elites from halo, the BloodHounds=Hunters,Brutals=Brutes,Grunts=...Grunts...
And of course "Light's Sabers"=Light Sabers.

Memory of a Nightmare -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (12/26/2009 17:46:36)

In Adventure Quest, Obsidia, the Necromancer trainer, has a raven that says "Nevermore!", I never realized what it meant until I today got to know that in Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" there is a raven that says "Nevermore, nevermore!" Something like that...

EinsteinX -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (12/28/2009 23:49:26)

^And in the Nightbane's Fortress quest, visiting Kaley's hideout will reveal his name to be Eapoe, another Poe reference.

Haha, just found my favorite parody yet in AQ's frostvale deleted scenes.
In Piers Anthonys Xanth chronicles the source of all magic was the demon X(A/N)th while in the beginning cutscenes e(v/b)il is mentioned. May just be a coincidence, but thinking about the connection gave be a good chuckle.

Btw if you love the zany puns in AQ and you haven't read any of the books in the Xanth series, I seriously advise checking them out. In no other books will you find such literal translations of shoe trees, night mares, and the proper use of crewel lye...[8D]

Spotted another spoof. In Dragonfable in the Magic VS. Science chain, in the quest called back to the past, well this whole quest is basically a spoof of the movies Back to the future. I even love how the boss is Marty McFly's enemy in every movie is Biff Tannen. I even Like how in the end they have a cart of manure fall on him like in every back to the future movie where biff or his blood relatives end up eventually in a pile of manure.

Not sure if this is supposed to be a pun, but the Firework Black Cat Weapon in MQ seems to me to be a spoof on the song "Black Cat" by Mayday Parade. Particularly these lyrics from it:

quote:

You're like a black cat with a black back pack full of fireworks
And you're gonna burn the city down right now

Though, it might just be me....

In the AQW New Years Release, Lim says in the "Current Affairs" quest a Star Trek reference: "Darn it Hero, I am a scientist, not an adventure!". Relates to the character Bones in Star Trek.

The Butter Hoof armor is obviously a paordy of the... "honey unicorn rainbow" creatures/fictional animals that little girls love so much. I mean look at it's tail. It screams of pony

Townhall meeting in DragonFable's Amityvale: They refer to Freddy, Chucky and Jason...

Obviously Nightmare on Elm street, the Chucky movies and Friday the 13th...And of course, they refer to the Addams Family.

There seems to be a joke in the new clashening quest where lim is going to contain a black hole. This joke seems to look like it might have been referenced from the simpsons. It seems to look like the scene from the episode radioactive man. In this scene they are filming a movie where the crew is using real acid and they insist that everyone put safety goggles on so everything will be safe. When they release the acid and milhouse does not show up to save the actor, The actor puts on his goggles and says that the goggles do nothing to protect him from the acid and then ends up having his clothes eaten away.
