Tick, tick tickticktick tick tick, tick, tick... Tick. I looked up from my computer screen across the empty office I was sitting in. Tickticktick, ricketick-tick. The sound of typing reached my ears originating from the room next to mine. Slowing down from time to time I could only wonder why. Tick... Tick! Tickticktick, tick tick. Tick ... Tick. The same monotone sound repeated over and over again, calling out for my attention through the thin office walls. That ticking, that ticktick-ticking, more annoying than a hyperactive little brother. More unnerving than a lover that never, ever calls. Ricketicketicketick... Tick, tick tickticktick tick. I needed a distraction! I stood and stepped out of my room Leaving my desk behind me in a desperate attempt to flee from the ticking. The constant ticktick-ticking, following my every move. I stepped through the hallway -still that ticktickticktick... Tick-tick-ticking- I ran down the stairs -everywhere that tick, tick, tickticktick, ticktick-tick ticking- I sprinted through the door. Bolted across the street. And jumped into the nearest diner. I sat down at the nearest table, just next to the window too. When this nice lady came up to me she offered to bring me a drink, and she gave me some food. Finally, some peace and quiet. Ding-ding, a man walks in I take a sip of coffee. He wears a suit, it looks business-like, I take another delicious bite. As he sits down, not far from me ring-ring a cellphone goes. It is his and he knows as he reaches down to grab it. "Yes, talk to me" he begins talking loudly into the microphone. I turn back and ignore him. I take another sip of coffee, another bite of food. As behind me the man keeps talking, I'd ask him to stop. But I'm not in the mood. Mumble. Mumble. Mumble. Snicker. Mumble. ... Tick. Tick, tick, tick, tickticktickticktickticktick-tick! Am I losing my mind? What am I hearing now? Was it just me or did the sound managed to find... Me? I look around and try to spot the source. I see the man -that buisnessman- staring at his table. Tick, tick... Ticktick-tick ricketicktick! A laptop in his hand. I jump up as rage engulfs me, no more ticking! Not today! Tick tick. "Buisnessman..." Tick tick. "Ya?" Tick tick. "It is time you die!" Tick... Ting ting, tingtingting, ting ting. I look up from my bed into the cell across me. A fellow inmate plays with a pen ticking it against his prison-door's bars. Ting ting, tingingting, ting ting... Ting. I sigh as I close my eyes and whisper: "Inmate?" Ting ting. "Ya?" Ting ting. "Tomorrow it is your time to die."
