Desperate Measures
( discussion, poll)
I

It was about time he was allowed to leave that cave. The hostile attitudes of those who once welcomed him were infuriating, and the rare occasions where he had no choice but to visit the so-called 'guest area,' which was nothing more than a mass holding cell that covered at least half the room, nearly drove him insane with the constant suffocating cries for help... at least he has the time to think about what his creator meant with the one phrase that buzzed around his memory banks like lightning: that there are diamonds among the mountain of coal. It was frustrating that he couldn't decipher the meaning of this peculiar saying, yet it drew his attention like a magnet as he started pacing an empty field momentarily until he heard a female voice from behind.

"You're not here to kick a girl while she's down now, are you?" No doubt there was a bit of regret in her voice, but the cyborg didn't even turn to face her in a failed attempt to retain what's left of the evil that was supposed to be seething from within.

"You gotta be crazier than Davinci to think that I'd even expect someone to show up way out here, especially when I got problems of my own to deal with."

"Then I guess I have no reason to be afraid of you, do I?" The girl started walking toward him just as he scoffed at what she said.

"Don't be ridiculous; I could tear you in half without a moment's notice and you decide to think you can't be afraid of me like I'm just a child playing with his imagination?" At that point, she was getting annoyed.

"Look, I'd actually try to take you on if I wasn't so desperate for help, ok? Everybody's been a little rough on me ever since that psycho Davinci swarmed me with his stupid killbots over at the park a while ago, telling me to leave it to the 'real' heroes or whatever." The cyborg still doesn't turn around to face the potential hero, even when she's standing right next to him.

"Knowing how easily he can be set off, getting out of there alive is a victory in itself if you ask me." There was a moment of silence following what the machine said, then he felt something soft placed on his shoulder.

"That's what I tried telling everyone, but a lot of them still didn't listen to me... at least you seem to understand." Her voice seemed to calm down noticably, which made the cyborg feel a little better.

"You're not the only one who had to deal with that nutcase. I almost ended up knocking him upside the head a few times because he wouldn't shut up about how great he thinks he is but never will be. I swear he acts like a six year old half the time, especially when things don't go his way." He slowly frowned and sighed with heavy sadness, finally realizing that he simply can't be evil, no matter how hard he tries. "But that's not the real problem I'm dealing with here."

"What, someone blew a fuse at you for something you did?"

"Worse. Everyone's flipping their lids after me because of what I am." The girl slowly slides the soft object off of his shoulder.

"I... I'm not sure I get what you're saying."

"Then let me just give you the short explanation: I'm not really human; I'm a robot who can think for itself instead of waiting for somebody to tell me what to do like typing commands in a computer. Everyone in Skulldeep hates me because of that fact that I have my own thoughts."

"I'm sure somebody in there cared enough to give you that freedom or I wouldn't have given you the chance to talk about it. Besides, I already told you I was desperate for help and beggars can't be choosers, ya know." That finally made him turn around to face the young heroine in genuine amazement. She was wearing a dark colored leotard with a utility belt, and her gloves and eyes glowed a light purple. Her thin helmet looked to be nothing more than just personal choice and her hair that was tied into a ponytail was dyed purple. He never thought that he would find anyone who even bothered to see past the cast iron label that he was from that infernal cave that he began to despise so much. "Look, we both need help with our problems here, so we might as well work together on this. I'll help you feel better about yourself if you at least try to help with a family sickness."

"If it's something serious, then we need to get going or it might get real nasty." She nodded in agreement; as much as she was curiously intrigued by this strange turn of events, she had to help her family first, no matter what.

"Good point. I'll show you where my house is, but s-stay close to me. I don't want anyone going kamikaze after you, alright?" The cyborg easily noticed when she stuttered and thought it was rather strange, yet he couldn't help but feel awkward by that request.

"Yeah, uh... good idea. Lead the way."

It was pure luck that this girl lived in the outskirts of the city, or there would've been too many people around to weave and dodge around the city to make it to her house safely and her family illness would only get worse.

"Give me the short version," the cyborg said as they arrive at the front door, "What made you so desperate?"

"Dad's been having a little trouble staying on his feet once in a while and started having pretty bad headaches yesterday, but as far as I know he didn't bump his head into anything so I've got no clue what's going on."

"I'm guessing the painkillers wouldn't make the headache go away... but couldn't you have asked a doctor to figure out what's wrong?"

"I would have, actually, if we weren't so short on cash, but I don't want him going through so much pain either, or worse..." The cyborg thought about this for a moment.

"Alright, then. Looks like the first thing we need to do is find out what's the problem."

"You're lucky," the girl says as she opens the door, "My dad's asleep right now so we might be able to do that, but you better have something--"

"Yeah yeah, I might be a walking death trap, but I'm more than just a weapons platform, so can it. We can argue about this afterward." After they go inside and the girl leads him to where her dad is, the cyborg started using one of the devices on his arm to presumably scan her dad almost like a portable x-ray. Despite appearing high-tech, the process still took a while, but then the girl thought something bad happened when she noticed the cyborg's distressed facial expression.

"Don't give me that look," she quietly snapped at him, you weren't trying to pull a trick on me, were you... were you?" There was a dead silence for a moment, since he wasn't willing to tell her what was really going on, but eventually he gave in. It turned out that her dad was having a very big health problem.

"...It'd be easier if you saw this. Come here." She hesitated, not wanting to think he did something to her dad that she didn't know of, but this... robot thing or whatever it was is the only help she'll have for quite a while, and she would only make things worse if she turned her back on him now. Reluctantly, she walked over to the cyborg, who explained to her what the problem was in a way she could understand, and the now terrified teenager tried to wake her dad up to tell him what the problem was, but he wouldn't budge. Already fearing the worst, she scrambled for the phone to call the emergency number. "We both knew something had to be wrong here," he continued, "But that... that's just..." As much as he didn't want to admit it, or at least not right away, he was starting to feel very bad for her. Finding out just how severe her dad's condition was made him feel much worse than the periodic mandatory visits to the mass prison Skulldeep called their guest area, and there would never be anything that could make him feel any worse. He knew that this girl would never be the same if she lost her dad at such a young age, and he was certainly not willing to just leave her to deal with this alone, even though that meant the possibility that he would be discovered. Some time later, the girl came back to her dad's room where they were... and her despair was indescribable. She tried to deny how bad the situation was-- first by denying it altogether, then by thinking of some minor problems that could lead to her dad's unresponsiveness like a very bad headache causing him to not get any sleep during the night-- but it wasn't working. The tsunami of reality was about to wash away every last hope she had that her dad was never in such a serious problem, but she's not going through such pain alone. The cyborg extended his arms and she stared at him, mostly because she was surprised he was still with her, and he knew it.

"I thought..." she started to say as she fails to hold back her tears, "I... why are you still here?"

"Look, you know that I'm no hero, but few things can be worse than losing a parent at such a young age. I might have told you I can make my own choices, and that's mostly because I can feel this kind of pain that nobody wants to deal with... and the last thing I want to do right now is to leave you to suffer through all of this on your own... besides, it'd be the least I can do since you--" The girl almost literally threw herself at him and held on tight as she now refused to hold back her tears anymore, and the cyborg gently hugged her too. There was no way she could have told the emergency dispatch exactly what the problem was, especially since a villain discovered it, but she had to have at least told them that she started to be worried when her dad didn't respond to her every time she talked to him. "You can hate my guts all you want after this," he says softly into her ear, "But d-don't you ever say that I didn't help you when you needed it the most." Nothing could stop him from shedding tears now, even as he started holding the troubled teenager tighter... but somehow, he still had a small amount of happiness inside. It's likely coming from the fact that there was someone who cared about him, but he certainly didn't expect it to be there. However, he does remember that he shouldn't be seen, especially with a hero. "Hey... an ambulance should be here soon, so I can't stay here. I don't want anyone to think you switched sides."

"No," she barely managed to say as she holds him as tight as she can, "Don't... you said... you wouldn't l-leave me by myself..."

"Yeah, but then I realized an ambulance is coming and I don't want to get you in any trouble, so... wait. I have an idea: how about I hide somewhere in this house where nobody would think to look, and then when they take your dad to hopefully get him better, I leave my hiding spot so we can continue trying to keep ourselves from breaking down. How's that?" Before she could answer the question, they heard an ambulance pull up to the driveway, so they immediately let go of each other and the cyborg runs to find somewhere to hide while he attempts to figure out what exactly happened to him.

SCANNING SYSTEM...

WARNING: UNKNOWN ANOMALY DETECTED

CURRENTLY KNOWN EFFECTS
1. TEMPORARILY INCREASED HEAT OUTPUT [TRIGGERED BY PRESENCE]
2. PERIODICALLY STALLED PERFORMANCE [UNCONFIRMED]
3. INCREASED EFFECTIVENESS OF EMOTION_HAPPY
4. SHARP INCREASE IN WILLINGNESS TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AS NEEDED
5. SHARP DECLINE IN STEALTH PREFERENCE

The last effect startled him very much. Given that it all happened in a short time, the first thing he thought of was the chance that he got infected somehow, but heroes usually aren't meant to do things like that. As much as he thought about it, he could never figure out an explanation for these sudden changes, and before he knew it, the girl started to call out for him.

"Umm... robot dude or whatever you are... where are you...? Please still be here..." The cyborg left his hiding spot (which happened to be the bathtub, of all places) and walked over to the girl over in the kitchen, who hugged him on sight, and he noticed the effects he discovered earlier were coming back in full force.

"Uhh... sorry about that, I was a little caught up on figuring out what's going on with me." She didn't like the sound of that at all.

"Oh, don't tell me you've got a serious problem too..."

"Actually, I don't think so, but I can't help but wonder what caused a few sudden changes from what I usually do." Somehow that made her curious.

"Umm... any chance you could show me?" He nods and finds a way to show the effects, and after a while, she smiled for the first time at least since they first met, but before she could tell him what was happening to the cyborg, the phone rang, and the girl relucantly answered. "Hello?... Oh, hi Stre-- what?... Well, then don't be surprised if... if I suddenly hang up on you or something... Yes, I have to know. He's my dad." There was a painfully long silence after that, and the cyborg started to get worried, even though they both knew her dad had a cerebral aneurysm, which was literally a swollen blood vessel in his brain somewhere, but all of a sudden she dropped the phone and cried endlessly over the robot's shoulder, who gently hugs her and pats her back as he starts sobbing. He tried to talk, but all he ended up doing was start to cry with her. This was clearly a far more threatening situation than either of them had hoped for.

It was unbelievable. It was simply unbelievable. The helpless teenager could not be in a worse position than this; if she lost her dad in these very hard times, both financially and emotionally, it would prove to be catastrophic in every way, especially since she felt like she failed him by losing the park war. She honestly wouldn't know what to do if the hospital wasn't able to bring her dad back home, but the cyborg absolutely wanted to make sure she knew that he would be there for her when she needed it.

"I don't know how much money you'll need to take care of everything you have to do," he says softly while one claw gently holds her wrist, "But when no one else is able to help ease all that pain, like if they had important things of their own to take care of, I will be here for you, at least, because few things can be worse than a suffering child." Suddenly, as if out of nowhere, he finally figures out the meaning of the statement his psuedo-'father' told him... and all it took was for him to be that diamond for her.

"Thank you," she replies as she grabs his other wrist with her hand, "I... I owe you so much for letting you help us out in such a bad time."

"You don't owe me anything; the fact that you actually let me help was way more than I could've hoped for." She faintly smiled at him. She couldn't believe that any villain whatsoever would actually have the heart to even think of nobility of this magnitude... but since she remembered him telling her he was a robot, even though a cyborg was a more accurate description, she had to ask him a question that she felt was rather silly, and very awkward.

"Umm... so... when you showed me... those changes earlier, what did you think caused them?"

"Well... since, um, they all happened so fast, the first thing I... thought was, well... someone had to have slipped in some type of virus when I was off-guard." The girl chuckled at him, which started making him blush for what he thought was for no reason.

"No, you didn't get infected at all, dear, or otherwise I would've complained about the same thing. What's happening to you-- er, both of us is that we managed to fall in love."

"Really? I don't remember tripping over something to make that happen, or even what this 'love' is," he says curiously as he scratches his head, "Did I hit my head or something when I fell?" The girl couldn't help but laugh at what he said.

"No, no, no. It's kinda hard to explain it, really, but it's... well... it lets you do things like this." She immediately closed her eyes and kissed him, which made the cyborg's eyes narrow in total surprise, but then seconds later he closes his eyes and they both start wrapping their arms around each other. 'Well then,' he thought to himself, 'Since this wierd new thing makes me feel better, I guess I won't mind it so much after all.' Neither of them, in fact, have ever felt this happy before, so it was natural for them to try to stay in this comforting position for as long as possible, but they couldn't stay long because there was someone knocking on the door shortly afterward. "I'll get it," she says as they reluctantly seperate, then approaches and opens the door. "Oh, hello... Are you... here to help make me feel better about this hard time too?"

"Yes, I am," the oddly familiar voice responded," "Though you seem to be handling this quite well."

"Yeah... you aren't the first one to arrive. Come on in." The cyborg seemed to be surprised when he saw a middle aged man walk inside.

"Frank?" he said to the man, not expecting him to arrive at all, "I thought they had you working on the fuel solution for the destroyers! Did they discover that they actually have a heart, but didn't want to admit it?" The middle aged man laughed.

"You dom't know how true that is, my boy, and they even hide it by making rules telling us what we can't do!" They both started laughing for a moment, and the teenager couldn't hold back a smile. "Ah, but it is a serious matter, however: we simply aren't allowed to make any child suffer so heavily, even if they intend to be heroes."

"As reassuring as it sounds," the girl said, "You're all still villains, even the robot dude here... err, no offense."

"Don't worry about it," the cyborg said, "I'd easily prefer that over an ear-piercing scream any day."

"Ah, but I am getting so old anymore, I almost forgot my manners. I am Frank Stein. You don't have to ask how I managed to end up with that name, but I will tell you that my parents had quite an interest over that particular piece of literature."

"I'm not so sure," the girl said, "Liking that novel so much and then deciding to name their child based on the iconic mad scientist? I'd say that would be borderline obsession."

"My thoughts exactly," her new boyfriend agreed, "But then again, Frank would seem a bit obsessed about it too since he's the reason I exist, more or less."

"Ha ha ha, touche... but he's right; I do have a peculiar interest in that novel as well, and it was quite a challenge to get everything to imitate exactly like how we would normally act, especially the emotions."

"Simply put," the cyborg started to clarify, "I'm basically the machine version of what an everyday citizen would be, except everyone else actually wanted me to be less of a softie, as they put it, and more of a one man army. We can explain it all later when we have more time."

"Yeah, since there should be more people showing up pretty soon," the girl said, "And some of them will totally freak out if they saw ya so..." She started feeling awkward for a moment, well aware that his 'father' Frank was in plain sight, but then she smiled and decided to hug the cyborg anyway. "I'll see ya later."

"I'll see you later too," the cyborg said as he hugged her back, which brought a tear to both his and Frank's eyes. "Do I get a prize for guessing who was cruel enough to make you go through this, dear?"

"You don't have to guess, hon, you could spot Davinci's overinflated ego at least a mile away." They all chuckled at that somewhat clever remark. "Make sure he gets what he deserves though, ok?"

"Believe me," Frank said, "With how much he wants to help you, I can guarantee Davinci will be begging him to stop."

"I'll even make him pay for the damage he caused, and that includes what he let happen to your dad." Now she started shedding a tear, and hugged the cyborg tighter.

"Thank you," she said while trying to keep herself from sobbing, "Both of you. Go through my dad's bedroom window, hon. You'll be in the backyard and that should make it easier to leave without anyone knowing you're here... at least, a little bit." The cyborg nodded and they both let go, then he heads over to, and opens, the bedroom window and passes through it, making sure to close it on the other side, and finally starts making his way to Skulldeep to teach Davinci a lesson... or at least remind him why that very important rule can't be broken.

The cyborg wasted no time getting back to skulldeep, though he had to be careful in case soeone managed to spot him. He reached the cave entrance before long, however, and approached one of the guardsmen.

"Where is he?" he asked in a stern manner, and the guard nudged for the cyborg to follow him.

"Cover for me while I show this guy where our little traitor's being held," he says to a nearby villain as they walked, without even slowing down.

"I can't wait to hear his trash heap of a story," the cyborg sarcastically said.

"Get in line, you got the whole cave demanding the same thing; just be glad you're not the one we're after."

"At least I'm smart enough to know that I have to follow the rules. You'd think he should know that by now!"

"But then you'd be forgettin' that his ego gets the best of him every time. Think of it as another reason why he deserves what he's about to get." The cyborg started to smirk as they turned down a hallway.

"Heh, that's one way to put it." They could already hear Davinci scream his head off, despite that they were some distance away, but somehow they managed to endure his nonsense.

"Furthest room on the right; can't miss it with him acting like a two year old. Tell them to tape his mouth shut next time, will ya?" The cyborg continued on toward the relatively small area.

"...an outrage! I've actually managed to get the malachite and all I get in return for my hard work is a knife in my back? When I recover from this minor setback, I'll make sure you--" He enters the room just as a villain hit Davinci, who was tied up in almost every possible. "Give it up, you wimp! You might as well--"

"Shut it," the cyborg tells him as he fakes an attack at the crazy man, looking very furious, "Your overinflated ego is what got you into this mess in the first place, but that's assuming you know what you've actually done."

"Let me make it clear to both o' ye'," the other villain said, " That crazy idiot was well aware of the situation that the teen was in when the higher ups called off the interception and told all of us about it, but there were obviously some who didn't listen. What really tipped us off was the fact that this nutjob pretty well put salt in the girl's wounds, as they say. Now since Frank told us that you're trying to help fix the damage he caused, which I admit I'm a little nervous about, I figured I'd wait until you showed up so you can have a piece of the action here."

"Waiting or not," the cyborg replied, "It wouldn't matter. I'd still get my hands on him and I'll have no problem making sure everyone knows that."

"Right. I'll finish setting things up so everyone is... 'reminded'... what happens when you go too far." The villain walks over to a spot out of sight, then Davinci and the cyborg glare at each other.

"I'm not afraid of you, tin can," Davinci said to him.

"You will be once I'm done with you, human. You should feel special that I had to come all the way back down here just to put you in your place, especially since you had to make everyone else do your dirty work just so you could get the last word... I'll bet you can't fight your way out of a wet paper bag even if you tried without your little minions."

"You do realize that you're the real traitor by helping out a hero, don't you?"

"Not when it's a child going through a rough scenario. You simply aren't allowed to put a kid through so much pain and sorrow like that, even when they're teenagers. Now if she was a full grown adult, then and only then, would your statement be valid, and I actually would be in your place right now. Since it's not and you're just acting like a five year-old, you might as well just shut up before you dig yourself an even deeper hole."

"Oh, no," Davinci sarcastically taunts, "I'm going to be beaten up by a life-sized children's toy! What's it going to do, slap me with those plastic claws while spewing off lame quotes from a boring movie?" Davinci started laughing maniacally, but the cyborg was unfazed by his worthless attempt and forcefully removed a small piece that broke off from one of Davinci's robotic parts, with the pain similar to tearing off a band-aid that was staying on one's skin for a couple of hours. "Now, you want to try that again, or are you actually gonna shut up and listen? Now since you even dared to rub her defeat right in her face to further destroy what little confidence she had in addition to whatever else the city might have retaliated against her, you will be getting the worst out of every villain who was part of that park war. Consider yourself lucky that--" He was interrupted by a voice that seemed to come out of nowhere.

"Alright, who's that supposed to be down there? Don't tell me it's Frank's precious little experiment I hear..."

"Hate to break it to ya," the cyborg said, "But it actually is. Believe it or not, it was the teenager Davinci harrassed that suggested me to come back here. Said she wanted me to 'give him what he deserves,' in her own words."

"Well... that doesn't sound very surprising to me, now that you mention it. Since she personally wanted you to do this, then you will be the one to remind Davinci what happens."

"This should be fun... though I would like to add my own personal touch to be sure he won't forget this."

"Interesting... what do you have in mind?"

"Eh, nothin' too fancy, but I will need something from the mess hall." They could hear the voice make an especially evil chuckle, which made Davinci a little curious.

"I know exactly what you're thinking of... you might actually be useful after all, but you better be ready to use it when it arrives."

"Oh, I will. With any luck, I might be asking you why it took so long."

"Ha ha! If you plan on enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it would likely be the other way around." The cyborg had to admit, the mysterious villain did have a point, but he did plan on trying to prove this person wrong.

"Just bring it over here; I'm sure with how big this cave is I'll be ready before it shows up." He then turned toward Davinci and gave off a mischievous smirk as he walked toward the helpless human. "Relax... this will hurt a lot."

Demolicious just couldn't stop pacing around the room; with her dad in such a critical state and the city not exactly pleased with what she did at the park, the possibility that she would have to attemt to support herself drew much closer than she was hoping for. She started thinking of everything that could possibly get worse: insults from the citizens, a fierce denunciation from the governor, even her ultimate worst nightmare...

"The city is angrier at you than you realized, I'm afraid," Frank said to her, looking almost as worried as she is, "When they announced the suspicion that you've turned, everyone seemed to be in a furious uproar. It's safe to assume they like to demonize vigilantism at any given opportunity."

"Yeah, it certainly isn't the first time they gave us a bad rap..." She slowly drops to her knees in total and utter despair. "But this might push everyone over the edge and give them the excuse they need to put us out of work forever. They would be turning on us vigilantes over what happened at the park... and they think Skulldeep is the one with all the evil around here. I just... I wanted to be in a better position to help my dad, that's how I got into the concept in the first place, but..." Tears started to run down her face as her sobs became audible. "I really won't know what to do when they actually shut us down, even though you and your... son... seem to be the only ones to actually understand.

"In all honesty, it's really because of your age. If you were a full grown adult into your twenties or even thirties, we would've left you to go without any help at all... yet I can't help but wonder how long it would be before they try to send someone to find your helper."

"Heh, I'm sure they're looking for 'im already," Demolicious said, trying to sound happier than she really is, "And that makes me worry about him, Frank, even if he's back into the relative safety of Skulldeep. I know he's capable of defending himself if he has to, but I guess I worry because I actually care about him so much..."

"And that would be one of the first signs of a true friendship, something I'm sure he would cherish dearly about you, if nothing else."

"Yeah, it's just..." She lets out a heavy, sad sigh. "I'm not sure if he'd be around long enough to share that fact with me, ya know?"

"Well, I could try to bring him back over here if you'd like."

"Thanks, Frank, but if going after Davinci is supposed to be his job, let him do it. I don't want him to get away with what he did."

"Hmm, agreed. We don't take betrayal like that lightly, though I do have to warn you the methods are quite... extreme, compared to the due process."

"Well... ok, then anything he brings back from the discipline would be enough proof. I trust he'll make it something Davinci will remember forever... even if it turns out to be completely wrong on a bunch of levels." There was another knock on the door and Demolicious slowly rose to her feet, still unable to mitigate the unhappiness of such an emotionally pressing time on her own, and walked over to the door to open it.

"Hi, Demolicious," the other lady said, who looks like she came from a formal event, with what appeared to be her twin brother next to her, "I, uh, heard about what happened at the park, but I just couldn't help but wonder what made you go that far in the first place."

"Yeah," Demolicious replied, "I guess you could say everyone's heard of me after the news got a hold of the event, huh? Come on in." They all walked back inside and closed the door, then the young man seemed to be looking for something.

"Atroxia, what are you doing?" the lady asked.

"I'm looking for her secret helper," Atroxia replied, who's wearing noticably more casual clothes than his sister, "I know she has one somewhere, Artisa." Demolicious was about to say something to the twins, but Frank started speaking before her.

"If I'm supposed to be a secret, I'm very sure that hiding in plain sight would be one of the worst ideas anyone could come up with. No, I am not her father, either."

"Seriously, Attie," Artisa tells her brother, "Give it up. It's not helping and you might even maker her feel worse."

"Well, I'm not really surprised that it's a trust issue," the notably sad teenager said to the twins, "But Atroxia's right. Is that the name? Well, anyway, I do have a secret helper, but he's off getting after Davinci for disobeying orders. Skulldeep's really steamed that the crazy nutjob's making me go through this, and the secret helper was brave enough to lend a hand when he could've easily been spotted by someone else and mistaken for... I dunno, kidnapping me or something like that." The twins were utterly flabbergasted; they never expected her to just blow the cover of her helper so suddenly. Atroxia even expected Demolicious to lie about it to cover her tracks.

"What did Davinci do to you?" Artisa finally decided to ask.

"What, other than rub his victory in my face? Pretty much just let my dad rot on his bed when he's got a serious problem that has to be dealt with right away. At least some of the villains have some respect around here."

"Ouch, that's... one way to put it," Atroxia said, starting to worry about her, "Um, should we even ask what they plan on doing with Davinci?"

"I don't know what they want to do with him," Demolicious replied rather coldly, "But I hope they give him nightmares over it."

"I didn't have to," the cyborg said, having just returned from Skulldeep with chunks of metal in his arms, "Shattering his overinflated ego was more than enough to make him cry like a two year-old that he was."

"Well, then what's with the pieces of metal?" Artisa asks him, "Wait, don't tell me they--"

"Yes, they did. Straight from Davinci and I didn't even need wire cutters to take 'em off." Both of the twins winced when they realized that the cyborg forcefully removed Davinci's robotic enhancements, even though they knew he was a villain. "Of course," he continues as he walks over to Demolicious and sets down the metal, revealing a salt shaker that was hiding underneath them. "I couldn't help but add my own personal touch to the matter." Artisa realized exactly what he did to Davinci, and her eyes narrowed.

"You didn't..." The cyborg smiled evilly.

"Oh, I did. I even let him just sit there afterward to take it all in."

"Thank you," Demolicious said to him, smiling a little in his direction, "At least I have somebody I can count on to help."

"Like I said," the cyborg replied calmingly to her, "We don't take betrayal lightly."

"You're just saying that so you can kidnap her later," Atroxia snaps at him, "It's happened before with--"

"Ain't gonna happen," he interrupted, "Or else I'd be in the same boat as Davinci and you know that."

"Besides, he's already proven to me that he's here to help," the teenage wrecker told Atroxia, slowly improving her mood, "You can say what you want, but the facts won't go away. I'll even show you the proof if you really want us to, but you better think about it before you bite off more than you can chew." Atroxia then started yelling at them in a foreign language, and afterward the cyborg slowly moves toward her, slightly angered.

"You dare demonize her desperation like that? Have you forgotten that she's about to lose her dad because of Davinci's interference?"

"I thought you piles of scrap metal aren't supposed to care about personal matters like that. Did someone switch on a remote control when you were shut off or something?"

"Nobody's making him do anything," Demolicious boldly tells Atroxia and holds the cyborg's wrist, "He's doing all this from his own choices. He wants to help me, Attie."

"Attie, sis, please stop this," Artisa begs to her... sister, "Maybe we should just leave them alone for a while."

"I'm not going anywhere until that rust bucket proves that it wants to help this... this criminal, Artisa." Demolicious and the cyborg look at each other, then give off a wry smile.

"Are you absolutely sure you want the proof?" the teenager asks her, and Artisa slowly turns away, noticing their smiles.

"Didn't I say I'm not going anywhere until you do?"

"Alright then," Demolicious said to Atroxia somewhat gleefully as the cyborg turns toward the young vigilante, "You asked for it." Demolicious turns toward the cyborg and pulls him in for a particularly passionate kiss, which initially makes Atroxia's face turn beet red. When she saw him place his arms around the purple wrecker, however, her face almost immediately turned green.

"Erm... come on, sis," Atroxia tells Artisa, "Let's give these two a little privacy for now."

"I told you we should've left them alone," Artisa replies matter-of-factly.

"Just shut up and erp... and go.

"Right... we'll talk to you guys later."

"Very well," Frank said to Artisa, since the lovebirds were occupied with each other, "Take care." After the twins leave, with Atroxia almost slamming the door, Demolicious and the cyborg parted their lips and smiled for a moment, then just held each other close.
'She asked for it, so it's her own fault,' the cyborg thought to himself.

"Umm... I never got to know your name," the cyborg said shyly, putting his claws behind his back, "I guess I kinda got caught up on trying to help you at least get some peace with such a hard time like this."

"It's ok, hon," Demolicious said back to him, smiling sweetly, "You thought of the more important thing first, and that's what counts to me." The cyborg started blushing, almost like he just met her for the first time, and she couldn't help but think that he looked rather cute in that stance. "Everyone calls me by Demolicious or Demo for short, but... you can call me by my real name if ya want."

"Thanks, Demo, but I don't wanna blow your cover if someone heard me say your real name... ya know, seret identities, and all that." She giggled and put an arm around him, while his smile widened noticably.

"Yeah, good point. Still, if you want to just lemme know. I'm gonna go get things ready, in case... well..."

"I understand. Me and Frank will still be here if you need us for anything."

"You're not gonna run and hide if someone shows up?" The cyborg gently starts holding her wrist.

"No, I'm not going anywhere. The city needs to know that the villains still respect the youth, and that includes you, dear." Demolicious started leaning on the cyborg, then he put his free arm around her back gently. Despite having a cast iron shell, so to speak, his metal body still felt warmer than she expected.

"Aww, you're so sweet... looks like Frank gave you a bigger heart than I thought."

"Perhaps," Frank strted to jest, "But I had to keep it small enough so it could actually fit with all the other parts I had to replicate."

"Well at least you didn't put it on my arm," the cyborg witfully replied, making them both chuckle.

"I dunno, hon; you did kinda fall for me rather easily, even when I gave you a chance to help. Well anyway, I better go through a few things so I'll talk with you guys later." She briefly touched the cyborg's lips, then he lets her go over to her dad's room and converses with Frank for a while. About an hour and a half later, there was a knock on the door, which Frank decided to answer it while the cyborg listened intently... but he noticed Frank looking up high.

"My, this is... unexpected," Frank said, full of surprise, I didn't realize how far the news would actually travel. I do hope, though, you will be able to fit in this house."

"I've been through smaller spaces than this," the other person said, with a female voice, "I'll be fine, but I did come here to see the teen though... just to help ease her pain a little; I know how hard it has to be for her to go through something like this."

"Very well," Frank replied, "But you wouldn't be the first one to help her in this time of need. Follow me." The woman managed to crawl into the house, who had to be at least ten feet tall, and Frank started to show her where Demolicious was. "Oh, and this is the one who was helping her all this time," he said as they paused when they saw the cyborg, "He's really been taking her well-being seriously."

"From how he looks," the very tall woman said, who had dark skin and was wearing some casual clothing with a stethoscope around her neck, "I'd have to guess he came from Skulldeep. Never thought I'd see a villain helping a hero out."

"Only because Demo's so young," the cyborg said, "Otherwise I would've easily left her to deal with it herself. You're not gonna believe this, but it is part of the few rules we have down there."

"Well then," the tall woman said nervously, "I guess it is nice to meet you... I'm Doctor Susan with the Super City hospital."

"And believe it or not, my name is Frank Stein," the middle aged man said while scratching his head, "I suppose you'll be here a while since you plan to give condolence, so I hope you won't be too uncomfortable."

"Like I said," Susan replied, "I'll be fine, just let me go outside to strech my legs once in a while." Frank motions the doctor to continue to where Demolicious is, and they walk over to her dad's room while the cyborg tries to find a method to recharge his power supply; not that it's low, but it would be better to do it right away in case he does run low at a more inconvenient time. Eventually he saw a phone charger lying on the kitchen counter, so he picked it up and looked at it for a moment. Curious to see if it would work, he tried to see if he had a slot that would fit the phone charger and found a slot that resembled the charger the closest, then plugged it in. After that, he plugged in the actual plug into a nearby outlet, then felt a faint, but constant, tingle on his left side in the spot where he plugged the charger in. It seemed to be working to recharge the power supply, but it sure isn't doing it very fast. After almost a half hour, Frank, Demolicious and the tall doctor come walking back over to the living room where they see the cyborg recharging.

"Oh, well this is a surprise," Frank said, "I didn't think your energy would be low already."

"It's not, Frank," the cyborg replied, "I'm just playing it safe."

"So, he's not truly human then," Susan said to Frank, "Is that what you're saying, Frank?"

"Yes, he isn't really human. I tried to replicate it as much as possible, however, and it seems to be a success so far. He's even willing to help Demolicious whenever possible."

"In that case," the tall doctor said while sitting on the floor looking at the cyborg, "He might bring knew meaning to a living computer. The hard drive could be like long term memory and the two cameras could be like eyes. Microphones could be like the ears and the RAM could be the short term memory... hmm, what else could be comparable?" Demolicious wasn't interested in the rambling and the cyborg was actually getting annoyed, which Frank easily noticed.

"I suggest you two pay attention," Frank tells them, "Or I might have to discipline you."

"Aw, come on," Demolicious complained, "We're not in school, and it's not like we're gonna benefit from this at all..."

"Suit yourself then," Frank said to her as he stood up, "Well, I've got to finish working on that fuel solution for the destroyers, and maybe even check up on Davinci, so I have to return to Skulldeep. I'll see you all sometime tomorrow, perhaps."

"Ok, Frank," the cyborg said to him as they wave goodbye, "Take care." Frank gestured a partial salute, then walks out of the house. Dr. Susan, unbeknownst to the pair, nodded like she knew what she was supposed to do, and continued what she was saying.

"Hmm... oh, yeah, the CPU might be the brain, or at least the thought process, and-- that's odd. I didn't expect actual organs to be with the machine parts."

"Yeah, well, Frank didn't make me a cyborg for nothin'," the clueless machine tells her, not even bothering to ask how she knows.

"I see... I guess he has thought of everything, then." Demolicious started blushing for seemingly no reason.

"Yep, even gave me a pair of lungs that I don't really need. How's that for authen--" Demolicious tugged at the cyborg and whispered something into his ear, then the cyborg immediately became embarrassed and could never finish his sentence. "Erm... wait, what?" was all he could utter before the informal doctor continued the very unexpected subject... right up to the point where they both ran off into seperate rooms and shutting the doors, completely red in their faces.

"What?" the doctor asked with slight concern, "Was it something I said?"

"Just shut up!" they both shouted through the door.

"Geez, tough crowd... alright then, since it's getting late, I'm going to head on home. Take care... I guess." When the informal and very straightforward doctor realized they won't respond, she just simply left the house, to the relief of the dumbstruck and embarrassed pair. Minutes passed before the cyborg slowly opens the door to 'his' room and carefully looks out for the doctor who is long gone, then goes over to Demolicious' door and knocks.

"Um, Demo...? You wanna talk?"

"Is she gone?"

"Oh, yeah, she ain't here."

"Alright then. Come on." The cyborg somehow managed to use just one claw to open the door, but immediately shuts it after he enters her room. They aren't exactly willing to risk another identically embarrassing event. He tried to sit on the bed next to the nervous vigilante, who was now in her purple pajamas, but he soon realized he might accidentally break the bed with his rather extreme weight, so he sits in front of her instead.

"Alright, first things first," he started immediately, "She definitely should've been more considerate with the whole thing."

"Can't argue with that, but I think she shoulda just dropped it entirely. You can't just up and talk about somehing like that so openly. What if she started all that if she was out in public? If we were in public with her?"

"Ugh, I probably would've kicked her down for it, especially if we were who she was talking with." They continued attempting to explain the doctor's reasoning for a while, during which Demolicious pulled down the window shades, but eventually they suddenly stopped, trying to get the subject out of their minds, but alas, the more they tried, the more the subject came back.

"I just can't get rid of it," Demolicious finally admits, "And it's all because of that stupid doctor."

"I wanna nice, long chat with her tomorrow about this... maybe she'd tell us just what the blackened hamstrings she was thinking when she started the whole mess."

"I don't want to lose sleep over this, hon, but... I just don't know. We know we love each other, but..." The cyborg sighs rather heavily as he stands up and holds Demo's wrist.

"Look, we can argue about this all night, but we'd never be able to find any answers... and it'll keep bugging us until we do something about it, so if you're absolutely sure you want to, we can try to put this to rest once and for all." Demolicious thought about it for a while, making sure to cover every possibility and outcome in her head, then finally sighs, stands up and holds the cyborg's wrist firmly.

"Alright. If I'm not gonna get any sleep until this problem's fixed, then I guess we'll have to try. Just one thing, dear."

"What's that?"

"Remind me to shower after this."

Demolicious was sound asleep on her bed, even when the morning sun was struggling to shine through the shades, so the cyborg just simply laid on her bedroom floor with the phone charger plugged in his left side, where it was last time, and thought about what she said to him the night before:

'I never thought that any villain at all would be so considerate like you are... in fact I don't think you even are a villain.' That statement rang endlessly in his head, never fully realizing how much it truly complimented his benevolence. Not even Frank, despite him treating the cyborg better than almost everyone else, could compare to that. At first he thought it was just a dream, just waiting for someone cruel enough to wake him up and never believing he could even come close to feeling this happy, but the evidence was clear. This was no dream. If Demolicious didn't let him at least figure out what was wrong with her dad, he was sure to be trapped within Skulldeep, suffering from who knows what horrible nightmares they might come up with...
And he began to sob, finally realizing how much her statement really means to him, with genuine tears rolling down both sides of his head, since he was facing the ceiling. Demolicious heard his sobs and slowly woke up, then somewhat drowsily made her way to him and sat down at his right side (in between two pairs of tiny holes on the otherwise well maintained carpet) and placed a hand on top of his actual claw, proving just how much she trusts and loves him.

"Who would've thought that a simple act of kindness could take you so far?" she said softly. The cyborg slowly sat up, gently closed his claw until it barely touched her skin, giving the impression that they were actually holding hands, and started to lean on her shoulder.

"I'll never for... forget you for what you just said to me, Demo." he said back to her, referring to her compliment.

"Hey, for all you've done to me yesterday, all you have to worry about is whether or not I believe you actually are a villain. Besides, you so totally deserve to be my boyfriend anyway. I just hope... well, that everyone else would believe you're here to help. If not..." She paused briefly as the cyborg turns to face her, "I might have to get used to the horribly ashy smell."

"You haven't actually been in Skulldeep before, have you?"

"Nah, but everyone in the city knows it's sittin' pretty on top of a volcano. Still, if no one thinks you're helping me, then I'll have to leave my dad a note that I'm moving there... well, that is if..."

"I hope he does, Demo. I really hope your dad makes it through the big problem he's going through, even if I might not get to actually meet him."

"Thanks, hon, but... I just don't see that you will be able to meet my dad whether he gets through this or not. Still, it's something to hope for." Demolicious carefully slides her hand away from his claw and stands up. "I'm gonna change out of these pajamas, so you'll have to take my phone charger somewhere else, ok dear?"

"Alright," the cyborg said as he unplugs the phone charger from the outlet, then stands up, "Just don't forget to show me around the house sometime, in case I do stay here." He started walking out the door, but she grabbed his claw before he left, making him stop.

"Hey..." She started blushing as he looked back at her. "I... I wouldn't mind trying it again s-sometime. Ya know, just to make sure that tall woman was right." The cyborg started to blush as he laughed nervously.

"Yeah, let's go with that..." They looked in each other's eyes for a moment, then she briefly kissed him as they held each other. "I wouldn't mind either, Demo."

"Ya know... if you never told me that you're a robot, or whatever you are, I would've thought you were a villain who actually wanted to use his heart for a change."

"As long as you got the idea that I was here to help, I wouldn't care what you thought of me... well, that's not exactly true, but-- ah, you know what I meant." Demolicious giggled, then smiled at him. She seemed to adore how he sometimes makes a fool of himself.

"Just get out and let me change," she teased, then the cyborg takes the phone charger into the living room and plugs it in an outlet there, then thinks for a moment while he waits for her. Why did Skulldeep want to keep him from having his own thoughts? Was it because of how powerful he was supposed to be? Were they deathly afraid that he would turn against him without a moment's notice? Or is it simply beause they're acting like three year olds when they didn't get what they wanted? Whatever the reason was, their hatred stuck out like a rusted nail, but he wouldn't expect the city to treat him much better. Somehow, though seemingly out of nowhere, he thought about why Demolicious' eyes looked so... odd. They weren't anywhere near like a regular person's eyes, in fact they glowed a bright shade of purple just like part of her recognizable gloves. Perhaps the malachite could have given her a strange reaction that made her eyes glow like that when she was fighting in the park. Demolicious soon came out of her room wearing a cute, but plain t-shirt and knee-length shorts, shifting rather uneasily as she walked toward the contemplating cyborg.

"There's... something I wanted to tell you last night," She started to say, which got his full attention, "But then I got so concerned about how you would react that--"

"Don't tell me it's about what happened, is it?"

"No. Do you see that my eyes glow like this?"

"Yeah," the cyborg nervously responds, "I kinda wondered how they became like that, now that you mention it."

"Then pay attention, dear," she said as she holds his claws firmly, "I'm going to tell you the whole story, but you can't tell anyone about this. I don't want anyone thinking that I might be controlled by some crazy villain, alright?"

"As if getting help from one wasn't crazy enough," he said as he gently holds her hands, "Besides, they'd be focused on trying to stay as far away from a walking death trap as possible much more than listening to some tall tale."

"Hmm... you got a point, hon. Still, I just... I wanna be safe about it."

"I hear ya, I'm just trying to make it easier for you. I'm all ears." She told him everything that led her to why she was being so desperate, and exactly what had happened during the park war. About a couple minutes later, when she was finished, the cyborg slowly stepped away from Demolicious.

"Wait, so that's really what happened all this time? That's how your eyes are all... glowy..." Remembering the curiosity, he immediately dropped to his knees and bowed his head down, seemingly in absolute terror. "L-look, I'm sorry about what ended up happening, but I thought that they were just ancient Greek myths or something like that. If I would've known--"

"Shhhh... it's alright, dear. It's alright." He slowly lifted his head up and saw her sitting down in front of him and smiling. "I'm not mad at you; I understand that you didn't know about it, but at least it wasn't your fault. The only person I would be angry at is that tall woman for making us go that route, but she actually helped bring us closer together... even if she might not realize it. Besides, if she wanted to keep us from it by actually talking about it, the guilt of knowing that it horribly backfired should be enough punishment for her."

"That gives me an idea... if she comes back here to see how you're doing, we should start by telling her you feel a lot happier, and if she asks why, BAM! We let her know that her so-called plan backfired on her... actually, we'll let her figure it out herself, but I want to see the look on her face when that happens."

"Hmm... I wouldn't normally approve of this, but I can't let her think that she can get away with it, either..."

"Hey, she knows I'm part robot, and remember when Atroxia gagged when she wanted me to prove I wasn't a villain? Imagine the doctor's reaction when she finds her plan backfired on her! She'd never want to blurt out that stuff again!"

"Hmm... well... alright, but don't think I'll stop there." He smiles rather mischievously when she said that, almost in delight.

"Hey, that's what I want to hear, but remember we have to let her figure it out. Don't make it obvious." She pulls him up to his feet while she stands up, then they both hug each other as tight as they could. A few seconds later, she kisses the cyborg while he carefully runs a claw through her hair, trying to make sure he doesn't accidentally cut it, but then he realizes how tight he's hugging her and seperates from her. "Oh, geez, I- I'm sorry, hon, I got a little carried away..." Demolicious just giggled at him.

"It's alright, I'm ok. At least I know what it feels like to be squeezed by an anaconda."

"And this is why I love you so much; you always turn my little mistakes or whatever I do to act like an idiot and turn it into something we can both laugh about. I never thought I'd find someone so nice like that."

"Aww, that's so..." She started to blush as the cyborg shyly puts his claws behind his back. "Ok, you are so not a villain. There's no way a villain would be even close to being as sweet as you are."

"Hey, I just wanted to find someone who would be nice to me. I didn't realize how beneficial it turned out to be for us."

"I so wish my dad could make it right now; I have got to tell him how sweet you are to me... but I guess for now, I better get something to eat. You want something small to snack on, in case it might screw up a machine part, hon?"

"Yeah, better to be safe about that. Maybe just a piece of cereal or two." Before Demolicious went to the kitchen, there was a knock on the door, so she went over and opened it. It turned out it was none other than the tall doctor, who was standing on one knee.

"Hey," the doctor said plainly, as if nothing ever happened, "Mind if I come in?" Demolicious knew what she wanted to be here for.

"Yeah, come on in; we were wanting to talk with you anyways." The tall doctor managed to crawl her way inside and sit down while Demolicious closed the door. "Specifically, it's about what happened yesterday." The cyborg walked over to his girlfriend's side, not wanting to miss the conversation.

"Oh, boy," the doctor said, knowing what exactly they wanted to discuss, "Look, I knew that you two would someday start talking about it, so I thought grossing you out would keep you two from... from..." She saw Demolicious hold the cyborg's claw, which struck the doctor as a bit odd since she knows the teenager always held his wrist whenever they wanted to hold hands, then she saw the cyborg actually closed his claw gently onto the teen's hand. (giving the impression that they were truly holding hands) At that point, the tall doctor was both completely flabbergasted... and red in the face. "No... no, no, you... y-you didn't..." The pair just smiled at her, and she immediately turned completely red.
'Now's our chance,' the lovebirds thought to themselves, and they got their revenge on the doctor by embarrassing her with the same subject. Surprisingly, it didn't quite affect her as much as they expected, but when they mentioned repetition, she couldn't take it anymore and moved as fast as she could into the farthest room from the pair, who simply laughed whole-heartedly while they continued to hold hands.

"What's the matter?" Demolicious teased and continued to laugh.

"Was it something we said?" They both laughed hysterically when the doctor told them to shut up, realizing the ironic twist of fate that somehow managed to happen. "Ya know, hon," he said to Demolicious, "I guess that wasn't a bad suggestion after all. I mean, we got our chance to get back at her for it."

"Yeah, just like how we kissed in front of Atroxia, that woman pretty much asked for it. Well, I better get us something to eat before my stomach realizes it's not getting anything."

Demolicious and the cyborg were happily enjoying a bowl of cereal together while they were watching the news, though the cyborg didn't have milk in his bowl to further exercise caution, thus he had to eat it much like popcorn. The tall doctor had left a few minutes ago claiming that she had errands to run, but they both knew it was because of the revenge they had exacted upon her earlier.

"I've been thinking, hon," Demolicious said to him, realizing that the news didn't seem all that interesting, "Since you don't have a name, I thought maybe I could come up with one for you to use... ya know, in case we end up having to talk with a bunch of people later on. I mean, what if someone asks for your name when you don't have any?"

"Hmm... that... could be quite a snag, Demo. Why, did you think of something?"

"Yeah, maybe something like... I dunno, Fluffy-luffykins?" The cyborg immediately dropped the cereal he was about to eat and raised an eyebrow at her.

"You're kidding me, right? Tell me you're not serious." She just laughed at him.

"Nah, I wouldn't do that to ya, but I did kinda want it to be a pun, like Justin Case, or Curtis E. Card." The cyborg snickered at those names, being amused.

"Heh heh, well if that's the case, it wouldn't matter what we choose, so... I'm goin' with Carl Burator."

"Alright then, Carl," she said while smiling, but at that moment, the news finally had a story worth listening to.

"In other news," the reporter started, "There have been unconfirmed reports that one of the villains seemingly going rogue from the Skulldeep Crime Syndicate, or SCS, is now residing somewhere within the city. If you see any suspicious persons, you are asked to call the local police department at once and provide all the information you know regarding this villain."

"Yeah, good luck with that," the cyborg scoffed, "I don't think anybody's gonna believe you saw a villain helping somebody out. Heck, if you're lucky, you might get away without having to see a psychiatrist or whatever they're called."

"Nah, you'd probably just get called a lunatic if--" Suddenly there was a knock on the door, but something about it made them feel uneasy.

"Demolicious? It's Strebor Goldenstein. We need to talk, and don't bother try to hide whoever's helping you; I've heard the rumors loud and clear." Strebor's voice didn't sound very happy, and neither of them were willing to risk jeopardizing the situation by a false assumption.

"Alright, Strebor," she said, fearing the worst, "Come on in." Strebor opened the door and shook his head upon sight of the cyborg.

"I feared it would have come to this," he said with a hint of sadness, "But I never would've thought I would see it with my own eyes... how could you allow him to make you fall so far?"

"Strebor, please, he just wants to help."

"Ah yes, the timeless classic excuse of assistance... then perhaps later on he could escort you to a random place and hold you for ransom... or worse!" Carl decided to stay out of this to hopefully make it easier for her.

"He would've done that already if that was true! I could have been missing for hours before anyone would even notice I was gone!"

"Who's to say he's not waiting until you're completely offguard?"

'If that was the case,' Carl thought to himself, 'I would've done that yesterday.'

"There were plenty of times when I was offguard," Demolicious said back to Strebor, "When I was leading him to my house, when I was distressed about my dad so much... I could go on for hours, and yet he still didn't kidnap me! Not even once!" Strebor and the teenager continued arguing for quite a while, yelling back and forth about their polar opposite opinions, but she was slowly losing ground. Strebor soon afterward attempted to make the final blow...

"Then explain to me why he allowed Davinci to commit such an atrocity." That was when the cyborg couldn't hold back any longer and stood up for her.

"Because I wasn't even around when that bratwurst even started that war," Carl said as he approached Strebor, "I had to live with the fact that he already caused that much damage and promised myself that I would help fix it with her. I even gave Davinci a living nightmare to--"

"Such is to be expected of a simple puppet of a calculating mastermind..." Demolicious realized just how much that infuriated Carl and slowly steps away, but a familiar voice sounded out from what seemed to come from a bedroom.

"I suggest you think about what you just said before you dig yourself a deeper hole... Strebor." An instantly recognizable person came walking out of the bedroom where the teen's dad used to be.

"Franklin Neal Stein," Strebor said nonchalantly, "I don't suppose this abomination is your doing?"

"He would have been an abomination had I not interfered. They were about to make something that wouldn't care if it killed a child!" Now it seemed like it was Frank's turn to argue with Strebor, so Demolicious carefully walked over to Carl and held his claw as the two adults argued bitterly like little children, trying her best to quietly calm him down.

"You would make that thing kill a child?"

"Never! I was preventing him from doing so!" Although it was admittedly unnerving for the pair, they were glad that Frank was willing to support them.

"Well fine," Strebor finally said after minutes of pointless arguing, turning toward the pair, "If you're not going to fix this problem, then--" All of a sudden, he stopped and everything was quiet. He looked at them for a moment, rubbed his eyes like he couldn't see it, then looked closer; He had just noticed that they were holding hands. When they started smiling, Strebor started to turn red in the face. Soon afterward, however, he started to feel very, very sick and literally ran to the kitchen, making everyone else laugh.

"I warned you not to dig yourself a deeper hole," Frank said matter-of-factly, trying to contain his laughter, "But you just won't listen, will you?" It certainly seemed to be amusing for them, since Strebor managed to think about what might have happened just a little too thoroughly.

"Don't worry about it too much," Demolicious said to Strebor, "Besides, I know he'll be careful since I still have both my hands with me and, well... I really don't mind having him around anyway."

"Alright kids," Frank said to Deolicious and the cyborg, "Let's go somewhere else and leave the frustrated man alone, ok?"

"Aww, but dad," the cyborg joked, feigning his complaint, "We just want him to feel better!" Demolicious just couldn't resist giggling at what he said and held his claw slightly tighter.

"No, son, I think he needs to be left alone for a while."

"Alright then," Demolicious said, "C'mon hon, let's go to my dad's room and look through a few picture albums, that way I can at least tell you a little bit about my dad." Frank and Demolicious start walking toward that room, but the cyborg held still and wanted to tell her something.

"Hey..." She stopped and turned toward him curiously. "Any time it gets to be too much for ya at all, just let us know. If anything, we'd at least give you a shoulder to cry on, but we'll try to help with more than just that... especially me." For an unknown reason, she decided to undo her ponytail and let her very long hair extend almost to the ground.

"You so lied to me, dear," she said calmly as she held both of his claws now, "You are totally not a villain. There's absolutely no way you would be this nice to me if you actually were." Carl heard faint footstepsexit the house and assumed it was Strebor trying to leave unnoticed.

"Well, I thought I was," he said back to her, completely ignoring her long hair and Strebor for the moment, "But I knew something wasn't right when I decided to help find out what happened with your dad in the first place."

"And when things rolled downhill, you almost literally devoted your life to helping me at least find peace in this really tough time, but you've done way more than that. You... you..."

"Done so much where it practically vaporized my villainous claim?" She nodded at him, then was curious about whether or not the cyborg had hair of his own, so she removed his helmet and set it on the floor, then laughed at the sight of his completely unruly hairstyle seemingly conformed into the relative shape of his helmet.

"Helmet hair... I remember when I first had that and the first thing I thought of was 'where's my brush?' ha ha... ah, well, maybe later I can fix it up for ya."

"Yeah, maybe... but right now, we got some photo albums to look over." Demolicious smiled softly at him as she held him with one arm and caressed the back of his head with the other.

"That can wait just a moment, hon." Carl started to hold her and smiled, knowing where this was going.

"Don't take too long or Frank might start to wonder." They drew each other close and closed their eyes, then...

"NOOGIE!" She immediately rubbed the top of his head vigorously with her fist, completely taking him by surprise. "Noogie noogie noogie noogie!"

"What the? Aww, I am so gonna get back at you for that, Demo!" She laughs at him, having just outsmarted the cyborg.

"Yeaahh, no you won't. Sorry Carl, I just couldn't resist it."

"How 'bout we just look at the photo albums before I start thinking of my revenge?" They hold each other once more as Frank pokes his head out to see what's taking the pair so long, then goes back in the room

"Alright alright, but I know you won't do it, dear."

"Watch me." They actually kiss this time, then walk over to where Frank is, holding hands the entire way. The cyborg never got his 'revenge' on Demolicious only because he never really wanted to.
