We don't know the solution yet. Right now it seems that we are nearing a stand still on ideas for solving it. Or at least the forum is I still can't seem to get into the chat thing

I found this Russian cipher that uses the numbers 0 through 9. It might be interesting.

Looking it up on Wikipedia it sounds like it might need a code word and it has a few steps so we need to know what step we have... this ain't going to be fun if it is that cipher

We need to use that Cipher! It could be it, or atleast give us a hint on how to solve this.

ChrisX... look at it. the final format is completely different from what we have.

We looked at the Russian cipher, and it looks like too many missing things to be viable.

yEAh, I found another problem with it too.
That cipher goes by tens in each line.
OURS doesn't go by only tens, only like two rows have it.

Perhaps a binary pattern could help.

Here is the binary translation of the hands assuming raised fingers represent 1's and lowered fingers represent 0's, in first binary and then denary format:

10110 11100 10110 ----- 10110 10110 11100 ----- 01110 11010

10110 10110 11010 11110 11010 10110

11010 00111 10110 00000 10110 ----- 11111 11010 11100 10110 00010

11010 11110 10110 10110 ----- 10110 00010 11110 11010 11010 00010

11010 10110 11110 11010 ----- 11010 00110 01110 11010 01110 11111 01110 11111 11010 11100 ----- 10110 11010 10110 01110 10110 11110

11010 11110 10110 10110

01110 10110 ----- 11010 11110 10110 11100 10110 00000 ----- 10110 11010 11100 00000 11010 00110 10110 ----- 11110 01110 11100

22 28 22 -- 22 22 28 -- 14 26

22 22 26 30 26 22

26 07 22 00 22 -- 31 26 28 22 02

26 30 22 22 -- 22 02 30 26 26 02

26 22 30 26 -- 26 06 14 26 14 31 14 31 26 28 -- 22 26 22 14 22 30

26 30 22 22

14 22 -- 26 30 22 28 22 00 -- 22 26 28 00 26 06 22 -- 30 14 28

(Leading 0's are used to keep everything lined up nicely) :)

This may or may not help in any way, but the hands instantly made me think of this.

Evil Moo, how did you determine what was "raised" or not?

I think he interpreted each finger as a place.

I basically asigned each finger a binary digit, those that were extended and fully visible I counted as 1's, those hidden in the palm I counted as 0's.

For example, the top left hand has 3 fingers up and two down including the thumb, in the sequence 10110, so that is the binary value I gave it.
The clentched fist has no fingers extended so I counted it as 00000 or just 0.

Do you think that the white bands on some of the hands have anything to do with it? I'm stuck.

I put the binary through a translator and it said it couldnt translate so Im thinking it may not be binary. when I think of something ill post it.

I'm not exactly a cryptographer, but I know that the letter E is always the most used the most.

Letter frequency of falerin message.

5 A
4 B
4 E
7 F
2 G
5 H
6 I
1 J
5 K
2 L
7 M
1 N
3 O
8 P
3 Q
2 R
4 T
2 U
1 V
10 W
2 X
14 Z
2 Y

Doubt it can form messages.Too much Z and W,few vowels.Letter substitution or vigenere anyone?

EDIT: About the hand puzzle,I've realised that there are more than one combination of fingers to make a "number".And,as far as I can see,the most used number is 3.Third letter is C.The inverse letter is X.

I think it's letter substitution and we know that f and b have to be vowels

Helpful and Constructive!

I've just arrived home after a hard day of work, so I'm tired and uninspired. Any ideas about what "The lesson and challenges here among the first ever known to man" may mean? Would "man" there mean "humanity" (so it would be a very ancient cryptographic system) or "each man" (so it would be something related to childhood)?

Edit: there seems to be a little problem with the letter substitution theory: the last two lines of the message start with "zz". There are not many words that start with double letters, and two lines in a row starting with two of those words...
