ORIGINAL: venturer90 Currently, the viable topics for AQW guides are: # Farming Guides (I'm working on a really comprehensive one right now) # Features Guides (A guide that Explains the basic what-nots of the Gameplay) # Classes/Skills Guides (A Guide that is entirely devoted to a thorough explanation of the various classes as well as their skills) # Quest/Storyline Guides (Already Made) # Account Recovery Guides (Already Made) Well, I'm not sure, but are 5 topics numerous enough to have a AQW's Guide Board? I'm quite on the neutral side to this. I am inclined to disagree here. While there may be only 5 topics numerous enough to create guides on, some of those topics are too generalized to be thrown into one comprehensive guide. Take "Quest/Storyline Guides" for instance. While "Storyline" can be placed conveniently into one guide, the former "Quests" option cannot. If you would kindly refer to another guide forum such as MQ, it technically only has 3 topics for guides: Equipment and Builds, Quests, and Misc. topics. According to the MQ Guides Index, it is quite possible to have 2-3 guides on even one more specified topic. In MQ's case, we have 2 guides on mechs (3 if you count the spreadsheet). Under the "Quests" section, MQ has a total of 7 guides. While AQW might not have as many quests as MQ to write guides on, there are certainly a plethora of quest topics that can be turned into comprehensive guides. I, personally, support the notion of an AQW Guides forum. One is bound to come up eventually, so we might as well start sooner rather than later. With those 5 guide topics venturer mentioned, I can easily envision 10 guides in the forum if people were interested in making them (MQ currently has 10 guides, and started with even less, so that is a non-factor). While the current AQW guides may be moved to AQW Q&A and stickied the same way it worked with MQ, I simply fail to comprehend the purpose of such actions. It is quite manifest that an AQW Guides forum will have to be created in the future, so why bother going through the process of having guides in Q&A and later moved to a AQW Guides forum when that step may be skipped altogether? I would understand if there were only 2-3 guide topics, but even 5 seems too much to sticky in Q&A. It would clutter up the forum with non-Q&A material (not specifically Q&A material in the long-term), and from my experience, most Q&A thread starters disregard stickies in the first place (stickied FAQ answers most Q&A questions), so the level of activity and "bad threads" would not be stemmed. The detriments of having guides in Q&A first just seem to outweigh the benefits. In my opinion, it would be wiser, more productive, and require less hassle if an AQW Guide forum was created and left to grow. Guides on quests will already be worth about 5 guides alone at this stage of AQW's progression. That figure will only escalate from here. Moderation on this new forum will not be that large a problem. Similar to MQ, we can have AQW Q&A AKs moderate the new AQW Guides forum. Considering there are more AQW Q&A AKs than MQ Q&A AKs when the MQ Guides forum popped up, the chance of AQW Guides be given attention is highly probable. Having the actual forum will already give AQW Guides attention from AKs. Whether the forum is created, or the guides are moved to AQW Q&A, the AQW Q&A AKs might have to look after them anyways. I alone kept MQ Guides clean for months by popping in once a week, with some help from Gnome, so moderating this forum should not be an issue. Traffic in a guides forum is not great by any extent...even for AQW.
