The Cure
Reverse the Curse

Darkovia Forest > The Cure

<<You and Chico with bandages wrapped on its head and right ear carrying a wooden staff runs from the left towards the right and stop less than midway along a moonlight illuminated path in Darkovia's leafless spider web strung forest>>

Chico: I hate traveling at night. Did I tell you that already?
<<You>>: Yeeees, Chico. Many, many... many times. Darkovia seems to be forever embraced in eternal darkness.
Chico: Something up ahead... We might be nearing The Cure, <<You>>! We'll get rid of your affliction soon enough!

<<Three shadows of bat winged creatures flies in from the right to the left approaching You>>

Battle: Evil Eye (3)
Full Heal

<<Chico runs from the left towards the right and stop less than midway along the path>>
<<You>>: ...and you were worried that a few flying eyeballs could pose a threat to me!
Chico: Oh no no, don't be silly. Chico was worried that a few flying eyeballs could pose a threat to HIM.

<<Black clouds on the left and right of the moon converge, blocking the moon and its light darkening the forest>>
Chico: Um...did this place actually just get DARKER or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
<<You>>: It has become darker. Seems even the faintest moonlight struggles to penetrate the evil surrounding this forest.
Chico: What on Lore could actually make Darkovia even darker than it already is??!

<<A flaming red left and orange right wing appear on the right in front of You and Chico, the creature is a black silhouette until it reveals itself to be an Infernal Undead Moglin>>
<<You>>: Probably not what you had in mind.

Battle: Infernal Undead Moglin (2)
Full Heal

<<Chico runs from the left towards the right and stop less than midway along the path>>
Chico: *shivers*Promise me that you won't let some necromancer make me undead. I can't bear the thought of an afterlife being constantly owned by heavily armed warriors.
<<You>>: Fret not, Chico! Now let's hurry up before more trouble finds us!

<<You and Chico runs from the left towards the right in a red rocky passageway illuminated by classic torches and stop in front of a three way path, skulls and a bone rest on two paths.
Chico: Well for a cave it is quite well lit, a nice change from that creepy forest. It's actually pretty warm in here compared to the outside too.
<<You>>: Hmmm, so far all the rumors are true. There IS a cave out here, in the middle of Darkovia...
Chico: Yeah, like that sage told us, the cave is made of "rock as red as blood"!
<<You>>: NOW the question is...which way do we go to find this fabled "cure"?

Red arrows are animated moving in the direction they point to Western Passage on the left, Eastern Passage on the right and Southern Passage downwards, click to continue.

<<You and Chico runs from the left towards the right along a red rocky passageway with green cracks on the walls illuminated by a classic torch and stop less than midway, skulls and bone are on the ground.

Western Passage
Chico: This seems to be the wrong way...

<<A ShadowSlayer walks in from the right towards the left, stops and raises its sword at You and Chico>>
Slayer Grove: Stop right there, foul creature! It is time to answer for all your evil deeds!
  • Fight!

    Two Battles: ShadowSlayer
    Full Heal

    Eastern Passage
Chico: Nothing seems to be this way.

<<A NightHunter walks in from the right towards the left, stops and raises its sword at You and Chico>>
Hunter Nolt: Well well well... your hide will make a fine addition to my collection!
  • Fight

    Two Battles: NightHunter
    Full Heal

    Southern Passage
Chico: Hm, looks like a bad choice...

<<A ShadowSlayer walks in from the right towards the left, stops and raises its sword at You and Chico>>
Slayer Stasia: You go no further! You have breathed your final breath, wretched creature of the night!
  • Fight!

    Two Battles: ShadowSlayer
    Full Heal

Chico: I wonder if there really ISN'T a cure for vampirism and lycanthropy?
Chico: So strange, according to that sage The Cure is here. I guess you're right, <<You>>. Let's just leave now before another Shadow Slayer tries to put a silver stake in you.

    <<The cave shakes violently>>
Chico: What in the gunglerum was tha-

<<A fissure appears on ground horizontally, green light flashes for a moment, a sinistral fault is in motion, it transitions into a reverse fault, then the hanging wall slides down revealing a pool of green bubbling sludge>>
<<You>>: That looks vile, I am NOT swimming in some... green sludge!
Chico: Good news, <<You>>! According to the legends, to cure yourself you only need to drink some of that...green sludge.

    Green Sludge: is it safe?
GENERAL SURGEON'S WARNING: Drinking random green sludge bubbling from the ground may be hazardous to your health... obviously.
    (2) Horrifying coloration of the hair may be temporary, but the stench will last years. Any claims made by the manufacturer that this product cures Lycanthrophy and/or Vampirism have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, cure or even prevent any disease.
    (3) Whatever you do, never wash your Moglin with this sludge.

  • Drink the green sludge
<<You>>: Ahhhhh! I'm feeling more like myself! Oddly enough it doesn't taste half bad... as far as green sludge goes.

  • I'm not drinking green sludge!
<<You>>: I'm not going anywhere NEAR that gak! I'll just live with my affliction for now.

<<Chico walks up to the edge of the cliff and looks down at the green bubbling sludge>>
Chico: Holy Noseflicker speckles! This stuff is gross...

<<Chico dips the end of its staff into the sludge and waves it around>>
<<You>>: Chico, don't be playing in it! We read the warning. Remember the warning? What if you fall in? This stuff is bad news for Moglins.

<<Chico pulls up its staff with sludge residue on it and turns to face You>>
Chico: Y'know <<You>>, I like you, but you're crazy. Chico is as sure-footed as a Neko. Have I ever told you of the time I-

<<The cave shakes for a moment, Chico with shrunken pupils waves its arms rapidly attempting to regain balance and falls into the sludge with a small splash>>
    <<You>>: Chicooooooooooo!
Chico: Chico is ok! This stuff is pretty warm, feels nice. Silly warnin- Hey... why are my feet getting so big! Uh-oh...
  • CHICO!!!

    Battle: Red Moglinster
    Full Heal

<<Chico faces You on the left, its staff is without sludge residue>>
Chico: Thank you, <<You>>! Chico would never be able to find shoes to fit. You are cured so let's get outta here! I hate scary underground caves with mutating sludge. Did I say that already?
<<You>>: I'm not sure it's any less dangerous than the cursed forest of Darkovia we have to journey back through.
    Chico: ...

  • Play again!

  • Leave

    The Cure

    Location: Travel map, Darkovia Forest

No... not the band, geez. Could it be true? Might there be a way to reverse the effects of vampirism or lycanthrophy?

You start the quest in a dark forest.....

Chico: I hate traveling at night. Did I tell you that already?
You: Yes. A hundred times. But in some places, Darkovia seems to ALWAYS be engulfed in night.
Chico: I think I see something up ahead! We might be near to the cure! We'll get rid of your affliction soon enough!

Shadows pass across the forest floor.

Chico: Holy webbed snooters!! Did you see those shadows??

    Battle Evil Eye (3)

You: And you were worried that a few flying eyeballs could pose a threat to me.
Chico: Actually no... I was only worried that a few flying eyeballs could pose a threat to ME.

    The forest grows darker...

Chico: Um...did this place actually just get DARKER or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
You: No, it just got darker.
Chico: What on Lore could actually make Darkovia even darker than it already is??!
You: Probably just more evil closing in on us.
Chico: Oh, okay. For a second there you had me worried again...

    Battle
Level 25 and Below: Moglin Fiend
    Level 26-49: Moglin Phantom
    Level 50+: Undead Moglin Demon

Chico: * Shivers* Promise that you won't let some necromancer make me an undead. I can't bear the thought of an afterlife being constantly owned by heavily armed warriors.
You: I see something up ahead too! Let's hurry up before more trouble finds us!

    You enter a cave.

Chico: Nice cave. It's actually pretty warm in here compared to outside.
You: So far all the rumors are true. There IS a cave out here in the middle of Darkovia...
Chico: Yeah, and like that sage told us, the cave is made of "rock as red as blood"!
You: NOW the question is ... which way do we go to find this fabled "cure"?
Chico: I see three passageways up ahead. Which one should we try first?
    You are given three choices:
  • Take the western passage
  • Take the southern passage
  • Take the eastern passage

Depending on which passage you chose:
Chico: Nothing seems to be this way
Slayer T: Halt! You fiend! Now you will fall, and your evil will cease to plaque the world!

      Battle
Level 25 and Below: Vampire Slayer (30)
      Level 26-49: Vampire Slayer (60)
      Level 50+: Vampire Slayer (90)
    or
Chico: Hm, looks like a bad choice ...
Slayer V: You go no further! You have breathed your final breath, foul creature of the night!

      Battle
Level 25 and Below: Vampire Slayer (30)
      Level 26-49: Vampire Slayer (60)
      Level 50+: Vampire Slayer (90)
    or
Chico: This seems to be the wrong way ...
Slayer C: Stop right there evil creature! It is time to answer for all you've done!

      Battle
Level 25 and Below: Vampire Slayer (30)
      Level 26-49: Vampire Slayer (60)
      Level 50+: Vampire Slayer (90)

The wrong passage will take you back to choose again.

If you have chosen the right passage:
You: I wonder if there really ISN'T a cure for vampirism and lycantrophy??
Chico: Yeah, you're right... let's just leave now (and maybe keep from being assaulted by more people in crazy hats!)

      The ground shakes!

Chico: Aaaahh!! What in the gunglerum was that??

The cave floor cracks and a pool of green sludge is revealed.... You also get a full heal.

Chico: Well, I guess there's our answer. According to the legends, to cure yourself you need to drink some of that...green sludge.

Mmmm Green Sludge! (Is it safe?)
General Surgeon's Warning: Drinking random green sludge that bubbles out of the ground may be dangerous to your health and may result in a number of serious side effects...obviously. Horrifying recoloration of the hair may be temporary, but the stench will last for years. Claims made by the manufacturer of this sludge that the product cures Lycanthropy, Hair Growth, and Vampirism have not been FDAtested. This product is not intended to diagnose, cure or prevent any disease. Rule #3: Whatever you do, never let your Moglin in the sludge...
    • Drink the green sludge

You: Mmm-mm! that was some delicious green sludge! Great taste, less filling! We should bottle this stuff and sell it on eBay!

        «You are cured of vampirism/lycanthropy/werepyrism!»

    • I'm not drinking green sludge!
You: I'm not going anywhere NEAR that gak!! I'll just live with my affliction for now...

Chico runs to the edge of the pool

Chico: Holy Noseflicker speckles! This stuff is gross...but then again...I really want to dive in!
      You: Chico? Are you OK?
Chico: Mmmmm......so squishy jammy toe snarfles soft.....and warm!
You: Chico! Do not even dare think about jumping in that goo...you read the warning!
      Chico: So.......warm..........
      You: Chico?!!!!
Chico: Hahahaha....I was just messing with you. let's get out of here, it is scary!
You: That is not very funny. What would have happened if you fell in there....you could have turned into a giant monster or something!
Chico: No way, do you seriously think the AQ team has enough time to build stuff that kind of complicated stuff?

      The ground trembles...

You and Chico: Uh oh ...

The ground trembles again and Chico falls into the sludge ....

      You: Chico.........!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chico: You know...this stuff is pretty warm! Hey...why are my feet getting so big? Oh no!
      Battle:

      Red Moglinster

You: That was pretty cool! Jump back in there again!
Chico: WHAT!!?!?! I hate scary underground caves with mutating sludge. Did I say that already?
You: Right...now let's head back to the equally scary cursed forest!
      Chico: ...

You return to the Darkovia Forest map.
Thanks to Dowornobb. Corrections from silaren.
