Switching the placement of DA and Assimilate:
Not happening, you mages wont even bother going to go the assimilate path and that will save you some skill points so you can max out your passives.

Overload and Plasma Rain having no staff requirements:
Only skill i see with no staff requirement is Super Charge.
Overload is a good skill, plasma rain and bolt should be buffed since they are useless in the higher levels and i pretty much forgot what some of those skills looks like again.

Physical Staves:
100% support, its not fair for mages to be ignored and made a stereotype of only using energy.

Okay, I agree with Plasma Rain and Supercharge being UP, but I think Overload's fine. It could use a tiny damage buff though.

Assimilation really needs to be unblockable. Even though it costs no energy to use, it only takes a bit of energy and has a massive cooldown. I would say remove the energy regen and make the skill unblockable. Making it usable with a sword might be going too far but it would make the skill used more.

For Supercharge, I would say decrease the energy required, buff the damage of it and add a tiny other effect to it. It really is not comparable with the others.

Plasma Rain needs a small damage boost, along with either resistance ignoring or a higher critical chance. The reason many high level mages don't invest more than the 1 point into it (For Deadly Aim) is because it's too weak.

@above if they lower the energy required then they would have to lower massacre and surgical strikes energy use which i dont think will happen

@H4lloween That's the beauty of Deadly Aim, its doesn't need to be maxed out. Also, that should happen. Mercs have that opportunity. Half of their skill tree is filled with the support skills and the other half with the maul/strength skills ( with other inbetween but none that are forced to be put stats on ). So why can't mages have halfo their skill tree full of staff skils andt he other full of useful skills?

Ok first things first, sc does regain health and overlord staff is a physical staff(I have it :)).
Personally, I think our skills do enough damage but don't ignore or lower any defences.
I agree that we should swap DA and assimilation or at least connect DA to reroute.
Assimilation should start with 3 energy and go up in 2s. Assimilation should not require staff.

Firstly, i'd like to point out something of mature taste.
OMG!

DEBOISE! RUSH! WHEN THE HELL DID YOU TWO RE-APPEAR?

Now back on topic, I've used a high Dex build with maxed technician with level 8-10 Plasma bolt. This is particually useful in 2v2 if you have another mage with you. The issue is the lack of skil opportunities involved, you can't Malf, Technician and Plasma Bolt with the amount of mana you start with, but with this build I've hit 76+ with malfunction and Rage Plasma Bolt . It is fun but not practical, I don't believe any class should have an unusable skill in their arsenal.

Yes it is useful in that it's unblockable and already unlocked, so if you need to rage against a high dex opponent who's low on hp, then it's there, however it's just an attack, no frills or status effects to make it useful in everyday play, the same applies to Plasma Rain.

On my first account Khannibal1, I have about 60 dex and tech. without stats from my equipment as a non varium level 28 mage. So as newbie as I was back then I always had maxed Overload And Plasma Rain. A caster build is entirely reliant on the other player on your team.

It does need to be buffed. And as I have mentioned before, SuperCharge is not on parr with Massacre/Berserker/Surgical Strike, despite the small health boost it provides. If you participated in playing whilst the EDF wer around you may have seen my supercharge build, which was relatively balanced and didn't rely on SC, but also managed to hit low 70's when the opponent was malfed. But in waiting around for SC we have to wait it out, we have no alternative strategy due to the massive amount of mana the skill consumes.

Mage need good physical staff.

Mage need to have a few less skill that require a staff.

assimilation could work with both a sword and a staff.

Super charge should cost a little less.

I agree a skill that does up to 25% crit like other class, maybe plasma bolt?
