Anyways, heed my words....

What matters the most is the concepts themselves, for if we do not have the concepts, we do not have the foundations for GOOD Change. Once we actually do have the concepts figured out, then it's just a matter to setting numbers and running trial-and-error experiments on them "until you hit the pay-dirt". After that... all is gud :)

hannibal: You've basically covered the reason i quit epicduel. I log on today and find central station now looks like crap except for a few screens of it, there are gun and aux enhancements and it costs over a 50 DOLLAR package to max out when you are already at the level cap.

Its a friggen' 2d turn based flash game with mediocre coding, why do you expect your players to pay this much?

This was a wonderfully written essay and I enjoyed reading all of it. I must say though, that I honestly think that you covered almost
every single right and wrong of EpicDuel's history. If only this game wasn't so darn expensive. If it didn't require so much money then
I wouldn't care as much, lol. But seeing as how I've invested too much in this dump... I'm going to wait it out and see how our
wonderful devs try to fix this mess.

*Note that I haven't bought varium in months and don't plan on until I see that its worth my hard earned money.

Not yet. It could get worse. Or better :D

I think a currency system like AQWorld's member and AC system could benefit EpicDuel. Note that AQWorlds members usually pay in gold and their membership has a reasonably long (but temporal) span, and the non-paying players get good items, albeit still inferior to that of the member items. ACs are the elite currency, much like varium in EpicDuel

 Read basically your entire post benny boy,and as a friend giving you his unbiased opinion i can agree with you on every lvl and beyond.Epicduel has not only hit rock bottom,it's dying very fast.The old 'evolve or die' quote has fallen so far behind now that you can barely see it if you've got your own set of binoculars.In short,it's gone and a whole new lvl of greed is now dictating the updates.

As vendetta stated earlier,people with 1 star under their name can kick the ass of a player with 7 stars.Stuff like these and achievements aren't even a real factor in the game,the game has 0 storyline and is asking people money the whole time.Hallo titan nightwraith,are you guys planning on retiring young or what?Do you want to see how long a fly by night operation can last before it gives in?

They don't care about the players or ideas even,every damn day you see an old beta or alpha player coming in here asking about the numerous cool ideas and promises from long ago.That's all that keeps happening,they've completely forgotten about what you people even want and features in the game such as stars and achievements are meaningless.

Features such as fame are released but no significant features or the promises of old.New money sapping methods are invented so frequently that you might as well sign over your soul if you wish to play this game competitively,they want ALL YOUR MONEY.They don't care about you are the game play,geez i doubt they even play the game.I might get banned for this post but honestly who cares anymore?

I can still come here and watch as this game slowly dies because you guys couldn't care less about the people that fund your game and even keep it alive.See ya epicduel,because this game will make it to the after life faster than i ever could.

Nice post (OP).

I agree, I understand they deleted so many of my post, we can hardly discuss anything here, the old forum was so much better.

ED is between a 2-Ton Rock and a Hard Place right now.

The Developers would need to work pretty hard to patch this up.

Espeially the Overpriced Items. *cough*

100% agree, i was around in beta (non varium then) recently upgraded in gamma three times, one 10k package, 7-8k package, and a 1250 package, thats 18500 varium of which i have warbot, e bunny chompers, the beast reborn, max enhancements on those weapons, including both eggzookas, i have under 2k left.

Having read the whole of the OP I do largely agree with it and would like to add a few extra comments.

First off, the whole power creep started not just with the frostbane, but also with the introduction of focus and agility.
Agility itself was entirely unnecessary, as previously, giving yourself ~170hp meant your other stats were significantly lowered; you could get maybe 40 stat points total off the best gear. These days it's ~110? so agility is brought in to address this.

Then it's still not enough as everyone just goes low-hp and high damage/prots. So they bring in high-stat reduced returns.
This causes more of a problem than it solves. Now players want even better gear with even more stat points to offset the penalties.

Basically ED is in a dark, downward spiral of decline.
The worst part is, it WILL NOT recover. The devs WILL NOT fix it because power creep makes them more money.
They are greedy and just see the $$ rolling in and care not about the players.

Point in case.
New bunny armors. They are already sold out, half a day from release.
400 armors (200 of each) at over $10 of varium per each one. Instant $4000+ for the devs. They do this every week. Release new shinies with a single stat point better and hundreds rush to buy them. So why would they stop? They won't. The greed has sunk in and there is no saving ED.

I have bought ~4x the 10k varium packages in ED so far, starting at founder. I will not be buying any again. I'm sorry I was foolish enough to buy as much as I did, but, the game is fun and I have done thousands of duels so I have no regrets looking back, only I am saddened about the future.

Titan, Nightwraith, I hope you guys are happy with what you've made. God knows you're happy with the money, and that's more important than customer satisfaction, right?

Why not have this, stop buying stuff and save up. Don't always buy equipment that are 1 stat point higher cuz its like using 1 credit enhancement that has been tripled-quadrupledor even pentacupled up with the varium included.

Statistical evidence would be truly appreciated. And as I do not have access to EpicDuel from my current position I may have incorrectly priced specific items, but not neccessarily made them appear more expensive than they are.

If anyone could provide me with some real staistics on player activity, complaint topics now compared to last year, varium pricing of items and in turn the real life reflection of prices compared to said items, I would appreciate it. I am aware some of you may be able to gather statistics on EpicDuel, and I will edit my initial post according to the true corrections you provide, I'm not here to submit incorrect information.

And PD, you stated that you and Xendran have an idea on how to make the game better? This topic is not just for us complaining, it will be used to discuss alternative ways in which the devs can satisfy their players without losing out. So please post your ideas, and I will be happy to include them, as Sageofpeace stated above, action determines satisfaction, getting down important information prevents this being a troll thread, and shows the devs exactly what we believe should be done.

To everyone who has posted so far, I thank you, please keep your input coming in, you are players and customers, and the devs appreciate your opinions. If we can't speak, nothing can be changed.

I really think Epic Duel should move in the direction of creating new gameplay.. the idea of "balancing the game" has been going on for far too long leaving us with the same gameplay as it was since day one..

1v1 and 2v2 (I wont including NPC's because its just not fun to fight them and you get very little from it other then wins and can only do them 5 times a day) we urgently need new battle modes and new features other then just weapons with high prices and more weapon enhancements..

what is the good in adding all these new weapons, enhancements etc when all we can do is 1v1 and 2v2 just the same as we have been doing for a very long time.. i do enjoy 1v1 for the most part, it can be very fun and its what i do the most with my time in ED, but we just need more options..

a PVP game with many battles modes and many fighting options available is what i hope Epic Duel will one day be

Well, I've been with AE for a very long time. Age: 7 years 27 days 8 hours 18 minutes to be presise. (AQStats)
I've been with ED since 12/15/2009 9:46:01 AM.

I have had a great time being with AE I've gotta my moneys worth out of the 7 years I've been here.
I had an great time with ED since the Beta phrase. Turn gamma Admins went money hungry. I've only been with ED for over a year & I'm most likey spent more on ED than the 7 years I've been with AE. Yet my ED account is nearly enough broke (last bit of varium left)
My AE accounts are still doing good. I still got AC's to spend, Z-tokens to spend & I will still have for a while.

Titan & Nightwraith NEED to start listening to the paying community. We've argued so much about releases but they never take the time out to listen to us & understand we do not want it. Everytime us (The paying community) want to dicuss why the admins are taking advantage of us, the topics get locked, same excuse & the admins never reply to give us a reason why there doing this.
Epic Duel will die soon enough if the admins do not listen & keep on taking advantage of us. Yes we like this game alot, well did, now I wish I really didn't pay all this money just to not have fun in this game. (I haven't played ED fully since August last year) Because I know I would be way more out of pocket than I am now. I can't have no more fun in ED anymore due to the fact that every week is a varium based update which costs too much.

Well, I typed to much anyway. Bottom line ED Team listen to us or watch you're game die. We've really had enough how you've treated us. We all now know how far you guys will go just to get that little bit of money out of our pockets.

Stop hating/disliking the DEVS they are working on the biggest problem ...Balance..
Thats why these last few updates .... were about balance..
If their was a new battle mode right now it would make the DEVS more busy

^ How is ,draining cash , called balance? If they were to balance the game , they'd put off releasing new weapons and REALLY work on balance . And would not allow mages to sink as a class . How many mages do you see nowadays . I'd say about 10% of the ED population is mages , which is just wrong . How is adding more enhancements balance . I QUIT THIS GAME . I bought 10k varium during Christmas . Bought the Spectral blaster, Got the Space Warrior , enhanced it , got the Eggzooka ,enhanced it and now i have 3800 varium ?!!? WTF ?! I don't even own a varium gun and THANK GOD I DON'T . This game is just .......................... wrong
